I feel sad!! When the entire chowk crowd on a Indo-Pak slanging match no one is willing to discuss the `real` political situation wthin Pakistan!! This shows that the current Chowki elites from Pakistan only care for their portions of this political pie and cuts from this casino roulette........
Where are these who claim to speak for PAkistan on this board topic???

All`s well as long as the ``casino`` is making money and attracting more customers.

A refreshing Nauman, congratulations!
I look forward to your piece on the `international crowd`.
Looks like Sui situation is just the beginning of a what one may refer to as ``feces hitting the fan``. Unfortunately this had been coming for a long time, and I hope people have had enough to put an end to this bloody roulette. There doesn`t seem to be any other way out of this crypt.

SITUATION IN SUI
I agree with the author. The situation in Sui gas field, Dera Bugti and surrounding areas is getting worse day by day. Terrorist attacks on the gas facilities are heinous crimes. But what is aftermath? Frontier Corps have taken combat positions at hilltops in the vicinity of Sui Townships, house to house search operation underway, FC troops departed from Quetta to join the personnel of Bhamboor Rifles, residents of the township are being questioned ( about what?), army troops ordered to get ready for any unpleasant situation, residents are vacating the area, gas supply to the rest of the country is compromised, gas load-shedding schedule announced, production of industrial units diminished, domestic stoves are lowering their flames, motorists with CNG-powered vehicles had to return empty handed from filling stations, business of 700 CNG station across the country is in doldrums, heat of situation in Sui area have started reaching each and every home via pipe lines, government being threatened by quitting support if action taken in Sui area, almost all political circles are unhappy with the situation and even more distressed by government’s “thought-out” possible “solution”, president of the country says “ ‘they’ wouldn’t be able to perceive what struck them”. Populace of the Dera Bugti being portrayed as hostile. This is today’s Pakistan? This is what President Musharraf advocating for last 5 years? Extending hand of friendship with those who helped to create East Pakistan and threatening people of the country with dare consequence is not something to bear fruits of “conciliation drive”. Friendship and broth hood should be preached on all fronts.
Establishing writ of the government is mandatory but using force in the beginning of the process is not appreciable. Ignoring sacrifices of the Baloch people in creating Pakistan are so minute to forget or ignore so easily. By the way, why media naming “Baloch people” responsible for these crisis? Don’t we have any other word? There had been no investigations yet and no body blamed for the situation in Sui.
Their might be some people trying to exploit situation and trying to create difference between authorities and the people of the area. Army officer blamed for raping lady doctor should be considered innocent until proven guilty. Government must keep all options open to secure the gas fields and residents of the township. Statements from Islamabad should be released after much consideration, contrary misconceptions can multiply and more dangerous situation can generate. The way such crisis handled back in 1970 is not exemplary. As gas consumption decreased due to lack of supply, domestic users must minimize their usage, industrial units should arrange alternatives and owners of CNG-powered vehicles must be given relief by decreasing petroleum prices for this month. We should remain optimistic that all possible efforts are in process to calm the situation and life will be on normal routine within next couple of days.

Re: # 3
Your point is well taken. I touched on that a little by using the term ``the international crowd``. More on that later.
