The languid genius...epitomising the mystic aspects of this game in his sublime artistry.
if a sufi poet were to play cricket, he would be Inzy.It has been my pleasure to savour this great batsman`s genius since 1992.

And a better ambassador of Peace between India and Pakistan can`t be found.

May we long have the pleasure of his unique gifts.

It is a little tricky to compare to players of different eras. Miandad had better players around him but he also faced tougher bowling attacks on more bowler-friendly conditions and still maintained an outstanding average and bailed Pakistan out on many occassions. I would probably rate him over Inzamam, but I can`t be too sure.

I`d rate Inzy better than Miandad too. His team wasn`t as inexperienced as the current Pakistani players are.

Re: # 13

Basit was a great prospect, no question. But u cant compare a batsman who has played 2-3 years to a batsman who has played for almost 15 years.

As an Indian, who just watched his side pulverized in the recent one-dayers, I have got to admit that I only have immense respect and admiration for the big man. He has always been one of the most talented batsmen out there, but in the last two years he seems to have turned talent into remarkable consistency in both forms of the game. Add to the fact he scores at a decent pace in both forms, and has this incredible knack of hitting centuries towards winning causes, and that speaks volumes.

no arguments there!

Yes Fizza, i somehow forgot to post cumulative runs in Inzy`s ODI and test career. I was probably too caught up with the some intriguing details about his career. But thank you all for the encouragement!

Re: # 11
I have always thought Basit Ali was a class apart. Better than Inzi.

He could have got himself out in an attempt to play a ball against its merit, and no one can guarantee the next man in would have been able to score even that single run! It was a matter of judgement, that he materly coped with, like many other occasions, be that of judgment as a captain, or as a batsman...in this particular series. I think it was really worth the wait.

Inzi’s the best batsman since Miandad. That’s saying a lot. In fact, one could well make comparison’s between the two. Will there be a point when Inzi will be considered the best batsman produced by Pakistan? That may sound far-fetched, but with Inzi’s track record, the possibility is there.

However, a single series win isn’t an appropriate basis for judging Inzi’s captaincy. However, if he leads another such victory, I may have to reassess.

i think he is an excellent captain and a fantastic batsman. every time Pakistan was in trouble it was Inzamam who batted us out of trouble, he set an example for the rest of the team. Ganguly is a good captain but Inzamam is better. Who cares if he dos`nt run around like a jack rabbit.

A good batsman - but a poor Captain. He is far too lazy and looks disinterested while Captaining on the field.

Gangoli is good - and even Yunus Khan looked very active.

And why did he wait for the last ball to score that one run - we almost lost that match. That is inexcusable.

Inzy`s also popular for throwing away his bat, or holding it up and chasing anyone who steams up his short-temper.

We still love him despite :D

I briefly browsed through the article and I think Adeel Khan forgot to mention Inzy`s also second to Tendulkar in total ODI runs (although several players closely follow).

Without a doubt, Inzy`s the most down-to-earth captain Pakistan`s ever had. He`s got a sense of humbleness in him that you don`t find in cricketers of such great calibre.
