harish:

i remember her age. i remember being her age too. :)

as for abandoning this series. . . naaah. . . it was more a case of trying once again to abandon chowk. not something i can force myself to do. ek din jab hona hai, ho jayega. :) not before this series is over though!

the struggle continues,

That was a rather an acute turn of the prhrase...precariously relevant! :)

And your reco on rozaiba should clear some hurdles for him in meeting this English teacher!

The line that got me was-``She believed that it was an investment in their sensitivity. ``

MaheshG,

Thanks!

cayenne,

Is this some Pavlovian response to the impending visit home! Glad anyways for the salubrious mood!

Thamizhan,

She was part of several experimental schools where they believed in integrated schooling for all. That means, there would be blind, deaf, and variously similarly disabled students. But there were also many who suffered from acute attention deficit syndrome, dislexia etc.

BeeJay,

I have a feeling you`ll change your opinion and learn to esteem Rohan more than you have been...:)

For one, he does not suffer from the one universally male human disability to ask for directions! Like who Huxley said...we all are ...``I may not be perfect...but parts of me are excellent.`` lot!

Hah....you are so mean. And here I was thinking I scored my first witty line with a woman!

Thanks for staying!

Patwari,

Good to know you are still catching up on the series. And appreciate the appreciation of tonal change in the narrative!

dost,

IN a moment of Ducth courage I even called up to tell her its online. I have switched off my phone, and changed my address since!...:)

HN

Aren`t you scared that the ``dangerous`` Principal might read this account? :-)

nambiar, out of the many in yourseries this was the most light-hearted. Good to see that. And compared to the shiv shena one this was a good break even though I found the first two still the best.

This is fun reading, after all the serious stuff from the last installment.

[Rohan and I once again knotted our tool bag and the rucksack carrying all our things onto the carrier of our bike.]
Oh no, the troublemaker is back!

[“Let’s ask somebody,” Rohan piped in to help the confusion further along. ]
What kind of MAN would ask for directions?!

[Very often, her talk was a long list of instructions or declaration. I liked to imagine that this was the façade that she kept up to mask her insecurities.]
Here you go, again!

[“Well, yes. All around the country just to reach you.”]
You are an expert on butter, aren’t you!

Mr. Nambiar,

Do you mind telling us what sort of ``differently-enabled`` school does she teach at? deaf? blind? Just curious about this.

This guy`s back to normal again. No reactionary assumptions or psychosomatic disssertations. He`s just a `normal` guy now, who`s attracted to the garrulous fitfy-ish widow and the shy guy from coorg who`s her house guest.India is such a sensual place.Sigh.
