The Place of Debate
Posted by ali1 Feb 7, 2002 11:04 pm
Romair said it best... Pakistanis should decide what they want Pakistan to be..... I would like to add that this should happen after elections and no military dictator, not even someone as sincere and honest as Mush, should be able to make a decision on this issue on behalf of all Pakistanis.

A Cowassjee, MP Bhandara and YL Hamdani would have us believe that Jinnah was born on Aug 10th, delivered his speech on secularism on Aug 11th and died on Aug 12th. Of course he drank wine and ate pork during this time, thus confirming his status as a secularist.

Here are some quotes from some other speeches of Quaid-e-Azam.

To the lawyers of Karachi on January 25, 1948. ``Islamic principles today are as applicable to life as they were 1,300 years ago. Islam is not only a set of rituals, traditions and spiritual doctrines. Islam is also a code for every Muslim which regulates his life and his conduct even in politics and economics and the like``

Speech at Sibbi Darbar on February 14, 1948 ``It is my belief that our salvation lies in following the golden rules of conduct set for us by our great law giver, the Prophet of Islam.``

Broadcast to the people of the United States of America in February 1948. ``The constitution of Pakistan has yet to be framed by the Pakistan Constituent Assembly. I do not know what the ultimate shape of this constitution is going to be, but I am sure that it will be of a democratic type, embodying the essential principles of Islam. Today, they are as applicable in actual life as they were 1300 years ago.``

The above is quoted to prove that he said the same thing to all audiences, his emphasis on Islam was not to appease the muslim masses of India.

His last speech:

At the opening ceremony of the State Bank of Pakistan on July 1, 1948 ``I shall watch with keenness the work of your Research Organization in evolving banking practices compatible with Islamic ideals of social and economic life. The adoption of Western economic theory and practice will not help us in achieving our goal of creating a happy and contented people. We must work our destiny in our own way and present to the world an economic system based on true Islamic concept of equality of manhood and social justice. We will thereby be fulfilling our mission as Muslims and giving to humanity the message of happiness and prosperity of mankind.``

So there..... personally, I would like Pakistan to be rid of the Mullahs, Bhuttos and the Sharifs. That would be a good start.

IT or a time to get LIT?

You lost a bid at SBP... big deal.

Next time, know the decision maker in advance and send him a suitcase of Jinnah`s pictures... the ones printed on the Rs. 1000 bills, and you`ll be ok.

[About sending Advani to Pakistan: I believe the clear message was that you could keep these angry old men at home and send certain film actresses instead.]

seems like some greedy old men from pakistan are salivating already....... tahmed321, uncle, what are YOU going to do with these certain actresses?

Rsuxana # 54, you need to be more original. Your parodies are pathetic.

[.... I have heard of a few married Hindu women who ran away with the handyman....

Oh??? I didn`t know your mom was Hindu. Now I get it...]

I was talking about a Khatri Hindu lady from military background who ran away with a handyman while visiting her son in Boston. I am sure you know if this incident?

[However, you need to know something about Hindu women.

Even if they are married to the worst misogynist on earth, they will not say that in their next life they want to marry a different person. Because, for them, life continues when they are re-born and marrying a different person would be infidelity to their current husband.]

I have read this mumbo jumbo elsewhere. Things have changed since you left your RSS shaka in the 60s.... I have heard of a few married Hindu women who ran away with the handyman.... but you can live in your time warp, no problemo!

[``The thousand year fight has only started my dear.``]

Dismissing the general who deployed too close to the border is a brilliant start for the thousand year fight, isn`t it ``dear``?

[``Perhaps you know the most popular slogan in India these days.``]

Your slogans are nothing but hot air, caused by an excess of dal masoor and gobhi aloo. Here, take some hajmola, relieve yourself of the hot air, and start the war if you will. Maybe recall General Vij from his forced vacations?

Pakistanis are not exactly dissatisfied with these wars. We liberated 1/3 of Kashmir (and some more to hand over to China), sucessfully defended Lahore and Sialkot against a full blown Indian attack, lost East Pakistan which we deserved to loose etc. etc.

And mind you, the ``wars`` didn`t start in `47 and haven`t ended yet.

[Kutte ki dum seedhee nahi hoti.]

Bhai sahab, please don`t insult the kutta bhagwan, lest he sends the rat bhagwan to chew your lingum bhagwan. he is considered to be the most vindictive bhagwan of all, even more than the elephant bhagwan and the monkey bhagwan.

[``Only the fashion sense of the RSS keeps me from becoming a fanatic :-).``]

Patriotic Indians with a keen sense of fashion show their love of the flag by wearing tri-colored underwears, with the chakra tastefully centered on you know where.

They wouldn`t trade these with the saffron chaddies, would they?

It seems like you haul Indian singers and dancers around when they visit the US. I was wondering if Varsha Bhosle is your daughter?

[``Karachi doesn`t sound that different from Kashmir. Your security forces burn houses, so do ours. Individuals are killed there and here. Same difference. So how the hell does anyone get off claiming moral ascendancy.``]

Three vital differences.

One, people of Karachi are not fighting for their right of self-determination, they were never promised a plebisite by the UN or by Pakistan, and there is no country other than Pakistan with territorial claims on Karachi.

Two, the magnitude. Compare the number of people killed and houses burnt in Karachi vs. number of people killed and housed burnt in Kashmir..... No to mention that rape is an instrument of state policy in Kashmir.

Three, we have people like Rehan who are willing discuss and explore the issues and problems facing Pakistan unlike the besharam hindustanis who parrot the atut-ang mantra of their cow belt leaders.

A number of not so minor differences too. Like AI and International press is allowed in Karachi unlike the democratic Indian Kashmir.

[``If Indians say they are no more secular than Pakistanis, no more democratic than Pakistanis, no more caring about human rights than Pakistanis, will you stop yelling in our ears about Kashmir? ;)``]

No. You cant live on stolen land after killing the rightful owners. We WILL kick you out.... all secular/jehadi/mullah/sharabi Pakistanis agree on that. Remember what the ``secular`` ZAB promised? The 1000 year fight is not over yet.
