Two absolute falsifications in this post:

One, pre-partition Punjab, like pre-partition United India was an unnatural creation of the Brits. Historically, it has always been the provinces of Multan and Lahore (and a few princely states) and what is now being promoted as Punjabi culture/language is Lahori culture/language at best. Most of the Sufi poetry is in Multani/Seraiki and not Punjabi. Punjab didn`t exist in the time of these Sufi poets who are now being promoted as symbols of Punjab.

Two, the Hindu-Muslim-Sikh bhai bhai BS in pre-partition Punjab is a cruel fabrication. Religious identity was extremely strong in Punjab which lead to the widespread adoption of Urdu by Muslim Punjabis and Hindi by Hindu Punjabis.

No other ethnic group in India butchered its own like (Hindu and Silkh) Punjabis did during partition. Thousands of Muslim Punjabi women were paraded naked in Jullender by Sikhs, at least 30 trains arrived at Wagah without a single Muslim alive, only dead bodies of men and children and mutilated bodies of women.... chopping off breasts and pulling fetuses form the uterus is a Sikh/Punjabi specialty it seems.... the list is endless. The ``midnight madness`` excuse put forward by the ``scholars`` of Amrita Preetam variety is just that, a pathetic excuse. The animosities that were hidden within came out into the open.

Even post-partition, we see mostly Punjabi Hindu mobs kill 3000 Sikhs in a few hours in Delhi.

Now these idiots want to celebrate Lohri with Punjabis in Pakistan, and exchange Gurdas Mann and Arif Lohar cassettes. No other ethnic group in India suffers from such delusions and amnesia. Thankfully, most children of the panahgirs from Amritsar, Jullendar, Ferozepur and Hoshiarpur are happy and proud to be Pakistanis and don`t give a flying guck to their ethnic kin from across the border.
