``Do you know who they remind me of- I am still thinking...``

think of a number, like 90000. that should remind you of who you have in mind.

narain,

[...Both of our nations have some legitimate historical claims on Kashmir...]

what is pakistan`s legal claim over kashmir?

narain,

[...stop being held hostage by the past...]

yes, but how about some non-academic cures?

sadna #342,

releasing photographs of the attackers is of no use, even if the absence of these seems `uncomforting`. had the photos been released, doubting thomases would then argue that those could be of any 5 dead people in kashmir in earlier encounters...there is no end to it.

what is of significance is the arrest/confession of professor jilani (related to aphc jilani?). the professor is no ordinary unknown street-man being accused of an isi agent and `made` to confess.

On India`s allegations of cross-border terrorism, Musharraf, in an interview to the Saudi Gazette, said, ``The Kashmir struggle is an indigenous struggle for the right of self determination. No freedom movement that has touched millions can be sustained by mere outside support.``

``Calling the just struggle of Kashmiri freedom fighters as cross-border terrorism is nothing but gross untruth,``

War Now and, Forever?

[...When last in history did two democracies fight wars?...]

that would be in 1999 in kargil. pak had a `democratically elected` pm then. now go ahead and tell us that kargil was not an indo-pak war.

in 1965, ayub khan was also `elected`.

there is no reason to believe that democracy in pakistan would mean an end to indo-pak wars/proxy wars. the only thing that might end wars is probably a war.

urstruly,

let us know when pok muslims are allowed to set up offices in islamabad demanding freedom from pakistan and are given widespread coverage over ptv, like the indian kashmiri muslims are allowed to do in new delhi. maybe then some indians would take you seriously. till that time, farzana would remain your best bet.

Hyderabad, Jan 2: Dreaded Pakistan terrorist outfit, Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT), planned to blast the Bangalore house of computer giant Azim Premji to attract international media attention, highly-placed police sources said.

Ashfaq Ali, who was arrested by the Delhi police in connection with the Red Fort shooting incident of December 22, disclosed this to investigating agencies.

for the sake of completeness, it would have suited the author to mention somewhere that a lot of `violence against the christians` has something to do with the infighting amongst the various tribal people as well...but i guess the mention of sangh parivar has ready acceptability in such cases.

and i really wish the good professor had resisted from discovering `south asian subcontinent`. is he going to discover `south asian ocean` next?

sadhana,

[...By the 1990s the intensity of this violence reached levels unseen since the partition riots of 1947``

[...Is this really true?...]

he is referring to 1992, i think. the jnu_wallahs have one version of the events, the bjp another which claims that the number of communal riots is the lowest since it came to power.

truth is a rare commodity. personally, i am planning to live at least till 2047 to see how mahaan mera bhaarat really is. hopefully, by then no govt will have to shove the slogan down our throats.

yaar aakar,

i was wondering where were you all this time when the `widely read and respected` one was around. exactly what have you been saying when you are drunk? :O)

about musha and pak, tell us something new.

and lastly, what is this fascination with signing out with `peace` amongst many? of course, the more moronic is `peace out`!

...Suhail Malik of Sialkot, interviewed by a New York Times correspondent in an Indian prison, has said he had no regrets for participating in the massacre, which coincided with the US President Bill Clinton`s five-day visit to India from march 20.

Malik said he had opened fire on the Sikhs just because he had been ordered to do so by his commanders and that he knew nothing about the plot to kill the Sikhs until immediately as he stood in an orchard where the 35 people were killed. `` I used my weapons when commanded... We are told what to do and not why. Afterwards we were told not to talk about it,`` 18-year-old Malik said.

``The Koran teaches us not to kill innocents. (But) if Lashkar-e-Tayyeba told us to kill those people (Sikhs), then it was right to do it. I have no regrets,`` he added...

asking sophomoric questions like `what about the pundits` to lone sahib is pointless. the aphc is on record saying that they can not vouch for the safety of the pundits in the valley.
