Are you listening Gen Musharraf?
Muzamil Jaleel
...Although the outfit had to eat its words soon and a denial was also issued later under pressure from the Pakistan military government, Jaish`s distancing from the act too did not last long.
Azhar told Pakistan`s leading Urdu daily Jung that it was ``historical success and was a matter related to Kashmir`s freedom struggle``. Jung quoted him as saying that the outfit has ``replied terrorism of Indian Government with terrorism`` and ``it has no relation to the developments regarding Afghanistan``.
...Professor Sheikh Showkat Hussain of Kashmir University, however, makes another point. ``Pakistan has a military rule and it is really difficult to organise such massive protests when Army is in control,`` he said. ``There is every likelihood that Pakistani establishment is allowing these demonstrations with a purpose. They use it as a bargaining chip with the Americans and the west because it shows how difficult a decision Musharraf has taken by aligning with the West,`` he said...

i don`t think being a frontline state was some sort of a competition. better you guys than us anyway. enjoy it and if a couple of billion dollars can persuade musharraf to start seeing sense, even better. shammi had couple of months ago suggested that india give that much money to musharraf for this very purpose. the sulking and whining only seems to be over the lack of a public comment from the powers that be to address the jaishes and the lashkars. but if that is being kept under the wraps so that your educated and uneducated jihadis stay indoors, that should be fine. There are some positive indications though – such as the reported arrest of fazlur rahman, connection between mohammed atta and the Indian airlines hijack in ’99, jaish being in the annual report on terrorism, powell and bush`s references to kashmir...stay tuned :O)

because their brethren might be getting a raw deal, say in fiji, would be the day when

btw, i didn`t read any reaction from any pakistanis, about the other msnbc article written by a muslim from an indian family. do you think it reflected the reality? do you think good muslims should/would do something? would you?
pakistan being the frontline state...good luck and i hope some world leaders would actually feel safe enough to spend the night there as well when they come for `exchanging ideas`. blair today and clinton last time didn`t think so.
the hijack...perhaps the only time in the history of the world, one country`s military chief
publicly accused its elected prime-minister of hijacking its own plane. that is called the
reality check.
