``While your Indira-nostalgia is touching, also remember that Indira blasted the ``peaceful nuke`` that ultimately led to the checkmating of the Indian military despite its overwhelming might``
There is good evidence that the Pakistani program was well underway before the buddha smiled. You may want to read more on this subject (Perkovich or Tellis will be a good place to start). (no offence intended :-))

The Last Crusade
Wednesday, May 15, 2002 (Srinagar):
The number of children killed in the Jammu attack has gone up to eleven. Today, a three month old baby succumbed to bullet injuries.
Subedar Attar Singh was on duty at the border when he got the news that his two children -- Amandeep and Jitendra had been killed. Now all that remains are photographs from the family album. The parents recollect the dreams that their kids often shared with them. Nirmal Kaur said that her son was too young, but her daughter would say that she either wanted to be a doctor or a pilot.
One of the three terrorists who attacked the camp came right through the corridor of Nirmal`s house and chased her into a tiny bathroom where she was hit by three bullets. When her children heard her crying for help and reacted, the terrorist turned his attention on them.
The children`s room has blood stains all over. The shelves have dolls and a knapsack that have suddenly changed perspective, stained with horror.
A similar tragedy took place at Havaldar Manjit Singh`s home. The unarmed Havaldar struggled hard but the militants killed his two year old and his three month old daughter.
These names will be forgotten by the near fraternity. And such crimes just add to the list, which is a part of everyday life for people in the valley.

Only 3 army jawans were killed rest were all civilians, women and children. The GOI response must be immidiate and effective. Ideally we should target families of serving, retired Paki officers (wherever in the world they may be)

the pakistani-trained muslim terrorists killed 7 civilians on the bus. They deliberately attacked the residential colony not the base.

Ok Ylh, can you point to a single instance where you have even to the slightest extent modified your views based on what you read on Chowk. I dont recall any so what use is it debating with a person who is convinced he is always right?

The airfield was Kalaikonda near Kharagpur. And indeed it was a very effective raid. Hats off to whoever thought it up!

``The irony for the 14 squadron was that it was the same outfit that earned the nickname `Tailchoppers` by wreaking havoc on IAF planes on the ground outside Calcutta in 1965. ``The airfield was Kalaikonda near Kharagpur. And indeed it was a very effective raid. Hats off to whoever thought it up!

``No I can`t quote from the article ``Super 7 in Pakistani Marks`` - I tried to find additional stuff on emeralddesign and on kanwa - but no help there either``
So you admit you have no evidence: none, zilch, nada?
So on what basis did you make that remark?

I find no refernce in that article that says its being flight tested, can you quote?

``As for the J-10, it uses the Russian Lyulka AL-31 engine (also used in the Su-27/Su-30 family of aircraft). The Chinese have not been granted a license to build it, let alone pass it along in aircraft destined for the PAF``
Well, there are some reports of a Chinese development of two new engines (i dont know how credible), the WS-10 is a low bypass turbofan (probably for the J-10) and WP-12(?), a pure turbo (probably for the FC-1).
So it is possible that the Chinese probably intend to manufacture the first batch of J-10`s with the AL-31F (given the 50 engines they have ordered) while pursuing the WS-10.
So maybe sometime in the distant future we may see a Pak J-10.

Sure who can argue with such platitudes, anyone can mouth them. The problem is with people who dont hesitate to say such things but all they want is another stick to beat their neihbour with, kapish?

We could argue till kingdom come (or is it ``jannat come``) about who started the fire first. (Maybe I`ll say it was the Pakistani support to the Razakars in Hyderabad). But the important point is for both of us to denounce violence againt civilians (Ye, I also am including Gujarat, and the attacks on Shia mosques in Pakistan)

``Kargil was a legitimate military excercise by Pakistani army. Pakistani army`s claim that the ``Mujahiddin`` planned and carried out that attack, and Indian governments` claim that they were ``stabbed in the back`` were both examples of extreme cyncism and silliness.``
Being a liberal, a pacifist are appreciable things. But we must learn to distinguish between them and stupidity. Unfortunately your above statement doesnt pass that test :-)

I see that Ms Scout again wants to deny the truth about the Pakistani Army. The last time she did this was when I quoted several facts about the Army/ISI role in Afghanistan.
anyway to each her own :-)

I know my attempts to show you the truth are doomed, you may dismiss all i write below as Hindoo propaganda but anyway let me try:
``maybe i missed it but i don`t remember ever reading about any ``international terrorism`` conducted by the Pakistani military...and specifically by the military....do you consider Kargil international?``
Ok how about:
1)93 bombay blasts? Tiger Memon, Dawood Ibrahim (know these guys?) have close links to Pakistani millitary. (there are several reputable references). Do you know where they live now?
``and what defined what occured there as terrorism? isn`t that area a land of conflict between India and Pakistan? why would fighting in a land of conflict suddenly be equal to ``international terrorism?````
2)India does not accept Kashmir as a disputed area, the state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.
By your logic if today I declare Karachi as ``land of conflict`` (btw what does that mean?) would that justify any violence there?
``you of all people exhibiting typical Indian mentality is disappointing.``
I do not care to respond as I do not indulge in such mindless invective.
