``saying ``venezuelan/brazilian`` melds them together inaccurately...there is a visible difference between the two..the former take the cake by far, at least as far as the women go``

But Saxena-saab by that standard what does the label ``Brazilian`` mean, for what is probably the most etnically diverse country on the planet?

``Forget the neighbor`s wife, I suggest a trip to Caracas``

Actually the place I work does a lot of work in S. America (Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil mainly). The joke is that no batchelor engineer who was sent down there has ever come back without someone in tow :-)

``Even in Pakistani villages, happiness is one son in the Fauj and the other in Dubai.``

To each his own. In Kerala I guess bliss is one son in the CPM and the second in Dubai.

``I had once a neighbour with a Venezuelan wife, put the Biblical commandment to challenge!!``

A nice chat with her in which you try to discuss something of more significance than the next sale at Macy`s would have helped you control your libido :-)

Ref Sadna

``The Pakistani military IS cowardly. It is afraid to fight a war with India in the open and has depended on surrogates to do its fighting for many years(remember Kargil)``

What is cowardly for one person is considered intelligent by the other. By all accounts Paki military srategy for the last 20 odd years in Afghanistan and Kashmir has been brilliant. They have at little military cost to themselves managed to advance their political-military agenda.

Now when it comes to affects these have had on their own societies they are not paid to (or have the expertise to) evaluate or factor it into their calculations. This is drawback of havng a military led foreign and domestic policiy.

An observation:

Every Paki (male atleast) here seems to have family in the armed forces or atleast has a keen interest in military affairs.

The sociology of such a highly ``militarised`` society must be interesting :-)

In defence of Bombay-bases

More importantly Bombay-bases are more ``bindass`` while Dehli-kudi`s have this ``attitude``

``Consider this: if acquiring an arabic name is so dangerous why would a converted muslim like A.R. Rahman not keep his ``hindu`` name?``

Actually Mr Sauce if I am not wrong, A R Rahman IS hindu. The story I have heard is that his mom asked for ``mannat`` at some dargah and in return named her son after the saint.

Hey man, you totally misread me. The ``pandas`` in Puri are an absolute abomination. ``Praying in peace`` is the last thing they know how to do, fleecing tourists in the name of religion is more to their style. Putting an end to their power would be a great service to hinduism. It will make you (in my eyes atleast) a great defender of hinduism.

15 thousands minority families dislodged in two districts: thousands of houses ablaze, hundreds of women raped

(Translated from Bengali)

Report from Janakantha, Oct 10, 2001: Post election violence and oppression against minority has displaced more than 15 thousands minority families in Barishal and Bagerhat districts. The affected upazilas (sub-districts) are Gournadi, Ujipur, Agailjara, Mullahat and Chitalmari. Hindu minorities from those upazilas are being forced out of their land and taken shelter at various villages in Ramshil upazila under Khotalipara districts. The displaced minorities have taken shelter to various schools and colleges at Ramshil bazaar and their relatives in those areas.

Islamic fundamentalists have initiated a rain of terror forcing minorities to endure living in a nightmare condition in those areas. Janakantha correspondence Mr. Mojammel Haq after visiting the affected areas today (Tuesday) described that the situation is far grave than the atrocities of 1971. Those family even not displaced in 1971, now they are facing far severe condition and being forced out of their own native land. The oppressed minority reported that due their support for Awami league in the election, BNP supporters went on rampage setting ablaze houses and raping women in Chadshi, Bahadurpur, Barthi, Pingolkati, Ashukati, Tarki Bandar, Narchira, and Sharikal under Gournadi and Rangtha, Bakal, Rajihar, Chingatia, Ramshidha, Dhanduba, Jayrampatti under Agailjara upazila and everywhere in Ujipur. With primitive laughter Islamic fundamentalists raped hundreds of women, removed eye of victims and loot all the belongings of minority victims. Such primitive and barbaric atrocities cannot be expressed in words. Mr. Bimal Biswas, a leader of local Awami league described middle age lawlessness and barbaric rampage in the area.

He mentioned that Islamic fundamentalist gang raped mother and her daughters of a Hindu family from Uttachadni under Gournadi upazila in front of public eye. In another incident, three daughters of a minority family were taken out of their house and gang raped publicly by Islamic fundamentalist. He also told to the news conference that BNP cadres kidnapped most of the women and girls from the villages at night, raped them overnight and released them in the morning. Janakantha has also reported that Bangladesh government has not taken any step to prevent such atrocities nor has provided food and shelter to the thousands of victims. If food and shelter is not given immediately, most of the displaced families will starve from lack of food and water.

15 thousands minority families displaced

``jagannath temple is not a tourist spot. it may have become one. but that is not the purpose to let foreigners move around with camers clicking on `how cute` idols. it is a place of worship``

yeah, but i guess you have no problem wandering through the Notre Dame or the Sistine chapel happily clicking away, why this double standard? Hey and if the pandas can make a few more bucks fleecing the foreigners maybe they`ll leave us alone :-)

I know for a fact that non-hindus are not allowed into the Jagganath temple at Puri. The town itself has lot of foreign tourists etc (it has pretty decent beaches). There is this special window to which the idol is raised on some days of the year so that his ``non-hindu devotees`` (yes, this puzzled me too) can have a ``darshan``.

I remember this vividly though I visited Puri nearly 10 yeas ago because of my rage at being told this.

(Hey, ylh, tahmed etc wanna come along we`ll storm the temple at Puri and put the moron ``Pandas`` (priests, but disgrace to the word) in their place.

Ref kafir k khan,

1)Classifying fish as veggie: is very common all over east asia also. A lot of japanese attitudes towards fish closely resemble Bengali ones (great people think alike :-))

2)Another peice of trivia: Did you know that Bengali is genderless. There is no ``male-female`` gender, nows thats called gender equality!! (frankly concepts of gender equality are probably as alien to Pakis as ``chochoree`` :-))

Every Paki here seems to speak some toota-phoota language that they imagine to be Bengali. Whats the deal was it required in school prior to 1971?
