Choona Aur Chooriyan

Beautiful!

``whitewashed`` walls that imprison. I think these are the forced morality, forced pure life of hypocrisy that is forced on poeple in/from the land of the pure and thier helplessness against it. roses wihtout thorns indeed!

Your description of the woman led me to believe she was used as a decorative `piece`, rather than a warm blooded human.

Hiddedn from the brilliance of the sun. away from the warmth of nature in to a cold , sterile ``pure`` unnatural cocoon created by society/family.

Chowkwalas Interview Pak. Law Minister
Posted by Born to Be Jul 21, 1998 09:24 am
Is there ever a chance of there being any LAW in Pakistan? Can I come to Pakistna without thinking when is my car going to get stolen, when are dakoos going to enter my house, is the dollar going to be frozen again, will my child be kidnapped, is the MQM going to collect bhatta from me too if I open up a business?

Can I ever come to Pakistan and live a normal life?

Selective Islam in Pakistan

Your `sarcasm` did come across and that is addressed below. By the way US is in the west and India is in the east! OOps sorry for `labeling`!

I am assuming you hate geography!

Re: Truth

Apparently you are denying most of the things you said earlier.

As for the congratulatory note. it just shows the bias in your head. East/West does not mean good/bad. It is a geographical criteria! What are you going to do next congratulate me on living in NYC!

FYI hinduism is regarded as an eastern religion along with buddhism, taoism and other Asian schools of thought. And yes there are some very interesting stories in the Geeta. Now that deserves a congrats!

Re: gsm

From first hand experience such behavior is extremely common in our Islamic Pakistan. As for the US, waiting in galis ? Where have you been ? that just doesen`t happen as long as a female does not go to the places you mentioned where they have the `construction worker` types. There arent champoos waiting at bus stops, subways for girls. when you walk down wall street, 34th street you DONT encounter the street obscenity that a female would on Tariq road or the financial area in Saddar.

People( a huge majority) here really dont have time for this crap!

People( an overwhelmingly huge majority) in pakistan DO have time or take time out for this kar-e-khair!

Re: Truth

I think you grossly misunderstood IK`s statement regarding Diana.

It was not wishful thinking, he was speculating on the turn of affairs had Diana become a muslim. I believe it was a subtle hint at her ``accidental`` death, ``accidental`` being disputed here.

It doesnt matter if Diana became Hindu or Muslim. Islam does not need an endorsement from anyone. About the west factor, there is an increase in muslim conversion in Europe and parts of US. Islam is Islam whether in the EASt or West. FYI Islam unlike Hinduism is known as a western religion, not eastern.

Please spare the poor animals this Eid!
Posted by Born to Be Jul 10, 1998 12:12 pm
I agree totally with the reply preceding mine. If a POOR ghareeb person can spend more than a few thousands at a party surely they can do much less for the qurbani. Also there is no compulsion for a qurbani if you cant afford it. If you cant afford the sky high prices man, take a hike!

You really dont HAVE to do qurbani!

it seems you want all of us to give up qurbani cause you cant afford it.

People give in to their ego a lot and BTW if ego/face saving is the purpose behind a person`s qurbani, you cant call it a qurbani-It just aint one!

Whatever you do depends on your `niyat`.

I also wonder what you think about the fast foods, restaurants, jerk meat!

Re: SR

`Riding camels and drinking milk`? I think you are losing a lot along the chronological times. I am assuming if you were born in that century you would have been cruising around in a Corolla and drinking `PEPSI-the next generation`

Extremely retarded logic!

Good Girls and Bad Postures

In my reply(First few lines) I by no means meant to say that muslim women should not dress according to the Quran.Sorry but, I realized the implications after I read my REply! They should but men should not stare at women regardless of their dress(this is also in the Quran FOR MEN), Because otherwise it would mean that its ok for all muslim men to start watching porn simply because the women are not dressed `properly`(what `dress`!).

Why is it that men always start pointing fingers at women, quoting quran and forgetting what is in the Quran about THEM. That is ignorance and discrimination of the worst form! Please educate yourselves before trying to educate others!

Re: Parus

Women have the Right to dress the way they want. Taking it from your point of view:

WOmen should cover themselves according to Quran.

Well, I am assuming this refers to muslim women. Are you then implying that a muslim man may not stare at a covered muslim woman but has the license to do so at an uncoverd muslim woman(keep in mind uncovered does not imply naked)

What about non muslim women in Pakistan?

Pakistani men oogle no matter who the woman is, no matter which country they are in. It is a fact!

Even if a MAN goes out in burqa men WILL stare simply because it is a female.

Infact my personal expereince has been that desi men tend to stare more at desi women. If you dont dress/look(Dupatta and the whole nine yards) desi they wont really stare as much.(However, inPakistan this point is really not applicable)

Men dont have the right to visually rape ANY woman. Or should WE start staring at male crotches now, just because a MAN is wearing jeans? It can Be done, you know.

I would be more than willing to help in inproving this disgusting obscenity in pakistan. Wouldn`t it be a good idea for someone to write something/suggestions about what to do/help to improve the plight of these perverts?

RE: Amit

Finally, A voice of reason, albeit from the other side of the border!

Why cant we all accept our differences and go about our ways in our own SEPARATE countries. Why do we have to constantly get constipated over the idea of a united subcontinent?

Pakistanis and indians have over the past FIFTY years developed radically differing lifestyles and the mere fact that Pakis and Indians both still do `bahngra` at their weddings is not sufficent grounds for the suggestion. It is no longer a question of just religion in itself. (there is very little Islam being practised in Pakistan). It is now a matter of TWO SEPARATE nations with DIFFERENCES. DO you really believe that the luxury loving average pakistani could ever find the lifestyle of an average Indian appealing? (Pakistan is a poor country-govt wise only)

I do hope the Kashmir issue is resolved soon. Its about time!

Re: All those who believe that muslim problems in india are imagined in the Muslim mind
Honey!
What about the Sikhs who dont get along with the Hindu majority. Are they also (in your hyperactive imagination) under a spell of a beautiful city, perchance in Greece somewhere?
What about kashmir? HELLOOOO!!!! It under indian occupation, not pakistani! Get it!
You appear to be really impressed by Alice in wonder land. Its a good book, only to read--not to live in!

The Essence of Islamic Banking
Posted by Born to Be Jul 1, 1998 10:13 pm
Can anyone please tell me what is considered interest in Islam?
I have heard that fixed-rate is prohibited.
What about mutual funds that have
1. varying rates of interest?
2. invest in stocks and BONDS both..thus have no fixed income.
What is halaal income?
I am really confused.

Zain, the poeple you are addressing are lost in Alice`s Wonderland. Have no clue what they are talking about. thus are using nonsensical rhetoric, long winding arguments that in the nend make very little sense given the PRESENT STATE OF AFFAIRS and ``halaaT`/happenings both in India & Pakistan & Kashmir & Bangladesh.. not to forget this planet. Earth to Mars!!!! Helloooo!
Any suggestions for Kashmiri muslims/sikhs first.. talk about Pakistan later.
