Dear Pankaj, you are right. Due to my lack of imagination, I suppose, I could only think of my original user id at work at that time, silly me! May be I should change it now.How is your thesis coming? I really have lot of load this semester. But with all its good and bad, chowk is such an addiction! Got to go.

I agree with you whole-heartedly what you said about this constant bickering. But it takes only a handful to turn the matter so ugly that shows that our tolerance is only skin-deep whereas hatred is deep-routed. This is such a baggage we are carrying generation after generation, really do not see how this can be eliminated.
Some people are totally insenstive to others feelings, although they are literate, they can misconstrue any information, add their personal biases. Some say, you can write anything when you are annonymous, but isn`t one`s own conscience is always there? Obviously, lot of us were not brought up with the basic human values, which should be true for any religion.

The Art of Cribbing
Looks like this board is stolen from original theme. At least we are not fighting.
Urstruly, anamika means who does not have a name. In the movie, Jaya was in disguise, pretended to be losing her memory, hence lost her name as well.
Pankaj, as you said correctly, Pank is mud, aj is jata, that is born out of one. Thus, Atmaja is one who is born out of atma, that is one`s own self.
Fear is Bhaya in Indonesian which is also Bhaya in Sanskrit, Barta is News. Yes those were the times! Now we are supplying cheap Hindi movies all over! where women come out in fashions/designs which Indian culture does not have any bearing. See I am cribbing!

Layman: there are exceptions, but very few I suppose. For example, Kajal, Nutan, Bindu, Payel, Nupur, but whether they are derived from Sanskrit or not, that is a question!!

Harimau, your last post to Farzana was powerfull stuff. When you can do it so eloquently, why call names? Ali1 do not call me hypocrite for that, I do not have any problem with siding with any Pakistanis who are reasonable (eg., Bilal, Sameer, Temporal, Hamidm, Tahmed, Godot, Sac, Rajanjua, Feroze,Fuzair, Fairdinkum, even Krashid, and many more, do not feel bad if I have left out, you all are very reasonable one point or other). But I have yet to see Farzana agree with any Indian with any issues, and I am really disappointed. Farzana, you also have to undertsand hindu views sometime, don`t you?

You raise a good question, I am sure there will be lot of Indians who will love to reply you, I add just my personal observation, no statistics. Muslims in India are doing quite well in some areas, take for example film, music and arts. I can`t finish counting names who really made their marks in these areas. I always try to watch the production team of any serial or program that is shown in any Indian TV, eg, ZEE TV. You will see about 20-25% muslim names. For example, BR Chopra`s big hit TV serial Mahabharat had a main script writer who was Muslim. Why they do not come for higher education equal proportion, I really do not know, since in my batchelor engineering class, there were about 5% muslim. But none of them came to US when I went there, although one of them was very good, he rather settled down with a job in IOC in Delhi (Indian Oil Corporation). Shammi, Shadhana, any thougt..?

Dear Faruk, my sincere thanks to you. Your posts resuscitate the faith in Indian system, good to know your view as an Indian Muslim. The poors in India do not have any religion and there are 600 millions of them, if 140 millions are muslim, then there are atleast 460 miliion poor hindus. Just a number to ponder.Regards

Dear Shadhna: Actually Mamata is very honest herself, but what I dislike about her is that lately, she is trying to milk every opportunity for the upcoming WB election. Then it does not make much difference whether she is corrupt or not! I am not condoning BJP, but given our country and her politicians, we probably will jump from frying pan to fire. It is really apalling that these people toy with the most sacred institution/job of country. Krashid, I agree.

Yes Harimau, have some shame.
Farzana, I hope as an Indian, you also pray for a stable government who can work for a while.

Farzana: the very fact that tehelka`s tape got such a national/international exposure, does it not tell you something? There will be more such exposures, these are the people who exposed those immoral cricketers! And we need more of this to eradicate the cancer of curruption in our country, and it is one of the root causes also for divison among people. But if BJP has to leave at this point, it will cost Indians dearly, and it may be the situation if the oppositions have their ways! Look what Mamata Banerjee has started, I had respect for her, but she has crossed her limits! Yes Harimau, have some shame.
Farzana, I hope as an Indian, you also pray for a stable government who can work for a while.

Dear Tahmed.. as temporal says...take hamid`s post with little salt.. beneath all the sarcasm, there is substance.. of all the people you should be able to understand that..true believers can not be distressed by some words..as God`s position can not be changed by we mortals..take hamid`s words as literary gems.
Now, why I am even trying to imitate him?

See, in this world we all have our own expertise( vice or virtue what that may be), so as in Chowk. Some of us are expert in hurling abuse to others, some are expert in name-calling, some are expert preachers, hypocrite!!! (you can include me in that category, if you want to, I would be honoured!). Our dear Temporal, is expert poet, but he is certainly not as good a dot-buster as hamidm is. I guess, Temporal will agree with me that the crown goes to Hamidm and only Hamidm...
Regards from horrible hypocrite hing (I thought hing came to India from Afganistan) eating hindooo...

One correction Mr. Siddiqui, it was 3 lashes, instead of 50 as you mentioned. It was reduced to one after Singapore`s then ambassador Mr. Nathan (who is president now)to US was cosulted?reprimanded? However, your selection of example is not appropriate. The laws in Singapore are strict in order to keep the country as efficient as it is now. Tell me, what did Taleban gain by wasting ammunitions, man-hours, and all the show of rocket-launchers, missiles to destroy some speechless statues? Those statues looked so good at the backdrop of scenic mountains, they almost looked natural as if they belonged there. Nobody was worshipping them, couldn`t they be kept just as symbols of art? It only showed the skills of Afghan people only, no less, no more.
They Changed My God
Your god is already with you since you could write this poem so beautifully. Reading morning newspaper has become a sadest event of my daily chores, when a desperate feeling of losing God overshadows the mind while reading about widespread destruction, hate and horror all over the world. Then, the God comes back either in a form of a beautiful poetry as you have written, or at the sight of the playground full of children`s laughter. We all want our Gods back for all 24 hours, all 365 days, and all years! Not just for those fractional moments.
