Israeli Zionist teams are training Indian forces in Indian occupied Kashmir: Jane`s
Updated on 2001-08-17 13:45:26
WASHINGTON, August 17 (PNS): Israeli intelligence agencies have ``several teams`` now in Kashmir training Indian occupation forces to fight Kashmiri Mujahideen groups operating there.
``Israel is understood to be ``heavily involved`` in helping New Delhi combat Mujahideen and this is part of the intensifying of relations between the security apparatus of the two countries, said a report on Jane`s Terrorism and Security Monitor.
It gave no specific details of the cooperation or deployment, but said the moves ``fits into Israel`s increasing focus on events in Central Asia, and as far as Indonesia``.
Recent reports in the Israeli media also speak of increased exchanges between New Delhi and Tel Aviv, including one account of a phone conversation between India`s foreign minister Jaswant Singh and Israel`s Shimon Peres in which they discussed the security issues facing their countries.
Although Singh did not express or mentioned anything on Israel`s brutal action against Palestinian Mujahideen and, on the contrary, had plenty of questions, Peres is said to have explained the rationale of the Israeli counterattacks.

An expanation of the verse with some comments of my own.
Allah the Almighty says:
``Do not kill the person God has forbidden to kill, except with
justification. Whoever is killed unjustly, We have appointed to his
next-of-kin authority (for revenge) but let him not be extravagent in
killing: for surely he is helped by the law``
[Surah al Israa (17): 33]
Baidawi, the Quranic exegesist writes:
Regarding ``Do not kill the person God has forbidden to kill, except with
justification``; the exception is with regards to one of three cases:
unbelief after previous belief, adultery after having led a virtous life and
the intentional homicide of a believer.
Regarding ``Whoever is killed unjustly``; means without the death being
deserved according to the law
Regarding ``We have appointed to his next of kin``; refers to the one who
administers their affairs after death, that is, the heir.
Regarding ``authority (for revenge)``; refers to authority to carry out the
punishment prescribed for homicide on him who is to be punished, or to
undertake retaliation (qisas) upon the one who committed homicide. Since
Allah says in the verse `whoever is killed unjustly`, this shows that the
killing must be an intentionally hostile act, since mere error is not
characterised as unjust.
Regarding ``but let them not be extravagent``; the one who kills in one of the
three cases above is justified
Regarding ``in killing``; in that he may perhaps kill someone whom it is not
justified to kill. The prudent person thus will do nothing that brings
destruction to him. Or, the `heir` who is not to be extravagent (in
exercising his option for revenge_ ismeant, when he inflicts mutilation
whilekilling, or when he kills anotherthan the one who committed the
homicide.
Regarding ``for surely he is helped by the law``; here the motive for the
prohibition of extravagence is stated in a new sentance. The pronoun `he`
refers either to the one who is killed (unjustly), since he is helped in
this world through retaliation for the death which is established by God for
the sake ofjustice, and he will be helped in the hereafter though the reward
of paradise. Or the pronoun refers to his (wali/heir) since God has helped
the latter in that He granted him the retaliation and commanded others to
assist him. Or the pronoun refers to those whom the wali (heir) kills in
extravagence, because they are helped in thatretaliation in extravagence or
punishment and responsibility for the extravagence are accepted.
No one doubts the atrocious nature of the attack in NY & DC. The
perpretrators, whoever they may be must be caught, and punished. However as
Prophet Muhammad said:
``The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the
strong is the one who controls himself while in anger.``
[Bukhari 8.135]
Prudence needs to be considered in order to ensure that no more `innocent
lives` are taken.
At the same time, it has to be realised that US foreign policy does itself
result in many innocent peoples lives being taken away as collatarel damage
e.g in Iraq where hundreds of thousands of children have died as a result of
US sanctions; or in Palestine; or in ...
What ought to be sought is justice, not a pre-Islamic form of tribal
revenge; that is, your son killed my son, so not only will I kill your son,
but your whole tribe even if you and the rest of the peolpe in your tribe
had nothing to do with it. This was a very common occurance in the pre
Islamic days amongst the Arab tribes.
Allah the Almighty says:
``In the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do
evil...``
[Surah ar Rum (30): 10]
``You will all return to Me and I will tell you the truth of all that you
did``

Open Letter to O. B. Laden
For those of you interested here`s my account of the tragedy that happened yesterday.
I had a splitting headache because I couldn`t sleep all night, so I called into work at 9:20 to let them know that I would be in late. I relaxed back into bed but then at 9:38 am my eyes popped wide open...something was terribly wrong...I felt tremors laying in bed...my entire apartment shook...my heart pounding as I got out of bed. Perplexed and disoriented from my headache I opened the blinds to my sliding glass door, the sun shone in and I saw what appeared to be dust particles out in the air. I thought nothing of it really...I just figured it was debris from the construction on the apartment going up next door.
So I reached for the remote control to my TV, when my telephone rang...my mother sounded panicked on the phone...`` * * * * * * *...have you heard what happened? They hit the Pentagon, they hit the Pentagon!...`` She was worried that something may have happened to me, after all I live so close. I reassured her that I was fine...but should really rush to work. Just then I heard sirens...ambulance, fire and police all right outside my apartment.
The sounds all a cacophony of tragedy blending together...my headache only got worse. So...still in shock really, not realizing the magnitude of what
had occurred I got ready to go to work.
I got into my car as I do every morning to leave the garage of my apartment building, and once outside it seemed like I was in a transported to a scene from the movie ``Independence Day``. There were panicked people everywhere...Navy and Army personnel running away from the Pentagon right next to us...crying and walking...hugging each other and in dismay...a women had taken off her Nine West heels and was now walking in her stockings...two lane roads were jam packed with three cars in two lanes...panicked people in cars everywhere...all heading no where...traffic signals weren`t working...horns and sirens going off...complete chaos...complete disorder in once a very quiet and orderly city...cars were wedged everywhere...a stern man in a Lexus was driving on the sidewalk...people all frantically trying to get anywhere but here. I sat in all the pandemonium and chaos and looked up to see the dark clouds of black smoke out of my sunroof...and that`s when it hit home...deep in the pit of my stomach...they hit the Pentagon...they hit this large building with fathers, mothers, aunts and uncles just two blocks from what I once thought was my cozy safe apartment. It was all so unreal...so scary...
My eyes darted right and left, trying to process the chaos...and that`s when I noticed the glares from the sets of eyes fixated on me...``go back to where you came from!!! you *#@ *&

Why the Indians change or revert to rascism with red Necks of England.
Conversion charges divide British Asians

ONDON: The second, almost surreal stage of the campaign to distinguish British Indians from Pakistanis appears to have begun, with a section of second-generation Sikh youths linking up with the far-right British National Party and identifying a common enemy - Britain`s two-million strong Muslim community.
``British Sikhs and Hindus object to their daughters being converted by marriage and we object to Muslims causing trouble here,`` Nick Griffin, the Oxbridge-educated head of the BNP who has a conviction for inciting racial hatred, told this paper.
``Yes, we`ve contacted the BNP, we Indians don`t want to be tarred with the same brush as the Muslims, who are taking our girls,`` a young Sikh accountant who insisted on the anonymous name Mr Singh, told this paper.
Mr Singh, who alleged that ``extremist young Muslims`` were going to extraordinary lengths to form relationships with Sikh and Hindu girls to convert them, said the problem was increasingly urgent in west London, Birmingham and Leicester, three areas where Sikhs and Hindus live in large numbers alongside the Muslim community. Anecdotal evidence aside, no one can produce any hard data that there is a concerted campaign of conversion.
``This is irresponsible and divisive,`` said Ghiasuddin Siddiqui of the Muslim Parliament, ``most religions are missionary, but in 200 years of preaching, did the Christians manage to convert all of India?``
The new alliance with the BNP has caused great unease among Sikh pacifists and Muslim leaders, who say the Asian community would be foolish to trust a party that espouses a return to pristine British culture and believes multi-culturalism to be a failed experiment.
Sociologists say much can be read into the strange coming together of Sikhs and a political party that visibly speaks for white Britain. Britains Sikhs, a small community that is often lumped with the one-million strong Hindus, evidently resents being ``engulfed`` in terms of media imagery and the official branding of Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans as ``Asian``.
Indian groups have been pointing out the difference to any one who will listen ever since the summer of riots between British Pakistanis and police in the northern English towns of Bradford, Burnley and Oldham.
Even so, doves and hawks alike say a very real problem exists. Gurunam Singh Sahni, former head of London`s Central Gurdwara, admitted he could instantly think of at least seven recent cases of conversion to Islam by marriage among the Sikh families he knew. ``It`s becoming frequent now, but this is not the answer to it,`` he said.

RINAGAR: Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir believe that militants want to enforce the burqa in the state as they could use the dress as a camouflage and carry arms under it.
B N Kabu, Deputy Inspector General (operations), BSF told Times News Network that militants wanted to impose the burqa as they could move about freely with weapons hid under the burqa. He added that if the security forces start trying to verify the identity of the wearer of the burqa, allegations of indecent behaviour will be raised. This, said the DIG, would attract international indignation.
When asked whether the BSF proposes to check the forcible imposition of burqa on the Kashmiri women, Kabu said so long as they give it the name of Islamic dress code, the BSF would not intervene to hurt the religious sentiments of the majority community in Jammu and Kashmir. But he said, ``our boys are ready to nab the hoodlums throwing acid or other chemical substance on the unveiled girls in the public.``
K Rajindra, DIG , Kashmir police said police guards have been posted at schools and colleges and at thoroughfares to protect unveiled women.
The DIG said sources within the militant ranks will help the police track down those militants guised as burqa-clad women.
However,a BSF jawan posted at Lal Chowk said he was scared of burqa-clad pedestrians as Fidayeen (suicide sqads) could be behind the veil. The jawans get alert whenever a burqa-clad person walks past a BSF picket in the city, said a BSF officer. The jawans even have a nickname for burqa-clad persons--`Masked Death`.
The security guards of Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah have been instructed to keep away burqa-clad persons. Authorities are also thinking about keeping burqa-clad persons away from the Civil Secretariat to avert any Fidayeen attack, sources said.

Bhopal, September 3: A group of BJP workers on Monday burnt an effigy of Bollywood film-maker Rajkumar Santoshi and posters of film actress Madhuri Dixit to express their protest against what they described as ``objectionable dialogues`` against Hindu gods and goddesses in Santoshi`s latest movie Lajja.
Police said the BJP workers led by Rameshwar Sharma, leader of the party in the Bhopal municipal corporation, were trying to move towards Raaz Talkies, where Lajja is being screened, when they were stopped in view of prohibitory orders in force because of the monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.
According to BJP workers, Madhuri`s posters were burnt because the ``objectionable dialogues`` against Hindu gods and goddesses were uttered by her in the movie. ``Lajja`` is also being screened at the local Sangam cinema hall, but no demonstration was held there.
This is the second time this year that a demonstration against a Hindi film has been staged in the city. On July 19, activists of the Youth Congress had staged a violent demonstration against Hindi blockbuster Gadar.

The Real Jehad
FROM MUKHTAR AHMAD
Srinagar, Aug. 29:
With only two days to go before the Lashkar-e-Jabbar’s burqa deadline expires, a separatist women’s organisation has come out in support of the Islamic dress code.
“I thank all those who initiated the purdah campaign in Kashmir,” Asiya Andrabi, the chief of the only women’s separatist organisation in Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Milat, said in a statement in Urdu.
“We should even boycott those families which live an un-Islamic life in Kashmir,” Andrabi added.
However, frontline outfits like the Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen had opposed the imposition of the dress code.
But Dukhtaran-e-Milat’s support to the burqa diktat has spread fear among women in Kashmir who had been assured by the stance of the frontline outfits.
“After the Dukhtaran-e-Milat’s support to the veil campaign, we cannot take any chances,” said Amina Khan, a school teacher, while shopping for a veil along with her female colleagues in Srinagar. “The threat now sounds genuine. That’s why I am buying an abiyah (veil).”
There’s a great rush here as women are busy buying burqa. There was also a burqa sale on Monday. “We have been flooded with orders,” said Ghulam Mohammad, a tailor. “We are working overtime to meet the demand for burqas. I am working day and night along with my helpers to beat the deadline.”
Many Muslim women in Srinagar also supported the veil campaign. “A veil is good thing for Muslim women, but acid attacks have no logic. Let them (militants) convey their message to women through religious preachers,” said a veiled Nighat Yasmeen.
“By adopting the Islamic dress code, Kashmiri women have silenced the opposition voices ... (and people) who tried to sabotage the massive dress code campaign in Kashmir,” Andrabi said.

My research actually focused on immigrant communities in the West. I would be interested in learning how the issues of dual citizenship, transnationalism and postnationalism play out on the subcontinent. So, what is your opinion?
