Nafisa loved the article. Touched on several interesting points specific to our community and also some general ones. Life does loop a full circle doesn`t it.

Thank you so much for reading and actually being the only one to understand my article as well. I really was not trying to ``slam`` anyone, just was stating my confusion and experiences, maybe even looking for some answers. Anyway, the poem was very touching, write on.....

The Case for De jure Legalization
Posted by hia4 Jan 4, 2000 01:28 am
It facinates me to see how Mr. Mirza seems to know a lot about sensitive/authorized information like the holding cost of the Siachin operation, yet fails to know the correct first name of the Pakistani Chief Executive. For your information, it is Pervaiz Musharraf and not Kemal Musharraf. Try reading a Pakistani newspaper every now and then.

Talibanization or the Turkish Model?

Tvarad, my sentiments exactly. I think Pakistan messed up Afghanistan and messed it up right royally. I am not saying that Pakistan was the only factor, but it certainly was the dominant one. Who else but the ISI were responsible for creating the Taliban (obviously with US funding). And once things started getting out of control, Pakistan easily pulled out. I do consider myself a patriotic Pakistani, but facts are facts!!!

New Chowk, Classic Chowk

I have pretty much read all of your articles published in chowk, and I see a theme which is very similar to what I get from my India friends living here with me in New York. In my humble opinion, most of the Indians that I have come across, or whose articles I have read (including yourself), still have a problem with accepting the fact that Pakistan exists. It has been 52 years sir, and we are still alive and kicking! I think you people should stop dreaming about how things were in United India and finally accept that we do exist as an independent nation!!!! Agreed most of us might understand Hindi/Urdu and may have the same skin colour, but our lifestyles are too damn different. They may have been similar back in the forties, but not anymore. In the last 50 years we have tread along very ifferent paths.

What is Pakistan to me?

It shocks me to see how by using good diction, you try to justify the most horrendous things. You sit and explain how YOU were taught anti-bacterial and chemical destruction warfare in the Merchant Marines, but some how you even twist and turn that and blame it on Pakistan. How whacked is that?????
