Hidden Hindus

Shandana,

A very moving article indeed - but then Muslims in India get ostrasized too - so where do we start and where do we finish this argument....

... Maybe one day - somewhere in time we humans might just be able to discover this secret and then live in harmony.

Reflections Of Shame

Salam Feroz

It has taken you eight years to express your feelings/anguish - and I believe it`s time for you to forgive yourself ....

Fairdinkum Jee - Salaam - ref #67

Lets look at this verse from the Quran (2:177) - ``It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness to believe in God and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, AND FOR THE RANSOM OF SLAVES; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing.``

- Showing that muslims should spend their wealth, money and to give love and respect to orphans, the needy etc and the SLAVES ....

How about a hadith - (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 2, Belief, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 29)

Narrated Al-Ma`rur: At Ar-Rabadha I met Abu Dhar who was wearing a cloak, and his slave, too, was wearing a similar one. I asked about the reason for it. He replied, ``I abused a person by calling his mother with bad names.`` The Prophet said to me, `O Abu Dhar! Did you abuse him by calling his mother with bad names You still have some characteristics of ignorance. Your SLAVES are your brothers and Allah has put them under your command. So whoever has a brother under his command should feed him of what he eats and dress him of what he wears. Do not ask them (slaves) to do things beyond their capacity (power) and if you do so, then help them.` ``

Now why did Islam not proclaim slavery HARAM - this was due to the fact Islam at the time was growing - it was still weak. After winning a war against the non-believers - muslims were often left with hundreds of non-believing women, young children and the elderly. These people were without any support because their men had died in the battle field. Allah allowed the muslims to take these people as slaves to help them survive. There was no Islamic government and welfare system and the muslims had to take care of these people from their own means.

Muslims were ordered strictly by Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) to be kind/generous and treat them as they would treat their own children - the adults were not allowed to be beaten. AND if someone had enough wealth they could buy the freedom for the slave - set them free. That was the utmost act of kindness you could show to another being infront of Allah.

You ask me of the Royal haraams now - that my dear friend is the bitter twisted mentality of muslim men in the middle east. It is practiced because they are hypocrites and using the old customs for their personal desires. They have not moved on and realised what real Islam is.

To de-value any human be it a man or a woman - be they muslims or be they non-believers is a sin. I did not critsize you. I felt you were not looking at the value of a human being.

.. last note - a SLAVE is allowed to request his freedom - and the master is ordered to pay the slave money to help him stand on his feet to be able to face life with a good jump start - this is from the verse 24:33

... God bless ...

Faridinkum - it appears you have no respect for humans - for that is what Islam teaches us. I can not believe in this day and age you are talking about `kaneez` (concubine) and mistresses - and then have the gall to smile about it too.

I advise you to look at your relationship with you daughter/sister - if you do not have one yet then when you do. For how would you like someone classing you daughter/sister in the `kaneez` status - but not as a life partner. Shame on you and your thoughts.

BTW I am muslim girl - but i feel embarrassed to be connected to your belief.

.. Phew ... You have a real gift of making the reader feel the atmosphere ... the emotions ... its quite a powerful tool .. use it well and I am sure your name will become famous.

However, can anyone answer this question for me why there are so many hijraas born in the Indian continent? Sounds probably stupid to most of you but its just something that intrigues me about these people.

To Western Women

...I am sorry to read that someone of your calibre believes that a woman needs to be covered ie wear a hijab to be respected .. for is that all not in your heart .. to expect respect .. respect yourself

To work .. is no crime .. no sin .. for our Prophets first wife had her own business - as a matter of fact to work side by side with your partner gives you a satisfaction which is beyond words.

So why dont you consider talking about the balance people like us can acheive. To be in sharam but all the while to be successful. For we have the most beautiful graces - which are not seen in other cultures. To recognise these is what we need to be aiming for instead of critisizing the culture where you choose to live.

By the way a woman is more than daughter, wife, nurse, cleaner, cook, lover - she is a excellent teacher ... healer ... carer ... farmer ... builder (brick and cement), accountant.. lawyer and above all counsellor ...

have a fun and pleasurable life .. God bless

Very interesting ... indeed ... though the hibiscus would not be my ideal flower of femininity - anyway its expressive enough ... and makes you realise what you have missed out in life by livng away from the tropics.
