On Hate
Posted by suroor Apr 15, 2002 02:19 am
It may be a good idea to focus your energies on more productive ventures. I have to remind myself of this regularly. I think that the emotions we read about in the news nowadays have penetrated our psyches so much that they influence our communication- depending on how much you let politics affect your daily

relationships..

If anything, the sadness that one feels when seeing the state of a world infused by hate should anything but remind us of healing the hate and melancholy in our own lives.

A Delightful Cut

Just a little to give back to our patriarchal, hypocritical society.

Ahhh...revenge is shooooo shwweeeet.

The Puppet

Nice story, Zeejah. Yes, agreed control is a part of love that one experiences, but a small percent.

I think my ideas about love being something that makes us better people :) doesn`t allow me to see it in such a negative light. Maybe it`s more of a `surrender`, not necessarily control that lovers experience. If it`s all control and heartbreak why would one waste their time with it?

Point taken that it`s the game that we enjoy playing, but shouldn`t there be more to it than just that?

Not Far, Now

This poem has some underlying tones, secret messages perhaps, passed on to a ``beloved`` thru this forum. I get the feeling the poem was written to a single person, and is surviving ridicule before it reaches its ultimate destination.

About the criticism...it was a little harsh, maybe a bit too cynical. Hamid, please don`t be discouraged, and keep writing.

The writer seems to be experiencing a momentary lapse into Romeotism; if this is the case, he/she should be allowed some expression of these theatrics.

Did we all forget about those miles crossed in the rain, at the wee hours of the morning just to sneak a glance of your lover....

My well wishes, to you Hamid.

Resignation

This poem, borrowed or original, was just so sweet that it`s hard for me to criticize its place on the chowk. Sometimes arguing over our ethics, values, our religions or personal choices for not subscribing to one, makes us forget really what we all were before we were so Thoroughly cultured/corrupted (your choice).

I like these small reminders, poems/annecdotes that ground us, and are sometimes desperately needed, during the colorful adventures of our lives.

To Anarayan (Reply 23)

I can understand that childhood experiences may not be times that some reflect upon with the greatest joy, and maybe that has to with the possibility of severe negative expeiences- abuse, neglect, what have you, that outnumber the few happy moments. Now, if you still look back at your childhood negatively, you may not have completely healed from some of these times.

PS. It occurs to me that you may just be playing devil`s advocate here; if so, overlook the previous sentiment.

To Hamidm (reply #24)

It`s always so wonderful to hear stories from parents who routinely discover some of the `magic` that children carry with them. Someone once said that being around children cleanses our spirits....

the mysterious cycles of life.....
