Pakistan\'s Afghan Policy
Please dont pass summary judgement on (the lack of) bravery of US soldiers. The brave soldiers killed in Kargil are less than the equally brave ones killed in the beaches of Normandy or elsewhere...
It`s the US society which does not have apetitie for too many casualities. And for all the right reason. They treat the lives of their citizens with some respect. Sadly that can`t be said about either India or Pakistan...

``While I do not support Fundoo Pakistanis but you right winger Hindus are in the same league. ````
Rest assured, if there`s any one in India who respect Sikhs for their `last stand`, it`s the right wing Hindus. It is from Sikhs that Hindus learned how to treat the foreign forces..
What you hear here is either from left wing minority appeasing Commie ba$tards or from naive moderates (where I suspect Ranjit belongs to)

For a guy who `honestly` didn`t want to get into Gandhi-Jinnah debate, your eagerness to jump into it is pathetic, if not surprising...
But as I mentioned earlier, I am not interested in this debate. so take a hike,

Manto,
Honestly, even I am least interested in starting that debate with you. You are entitled to your opinion. I am to mine. So let`s leave it at that,
Ranjit # 267:
Drawing such strong conclusions based on violence in Punjab during those 6-8 months is flawed. It`s almost impossible for any one to stop the mob mentality during the time of such madness. I doubt even Gandhi could have had such success in the Western theatre..
So let`s go to the core of your argument. You believe Nehru is of the same ilk as Patel and Jinnah. People who condoned voilence tacitly or not.. Other than basing your argument on a theoritical construct, do you have any proof? Please let me know if you have any. Also, let me know how much involvement he had in creating the Constitution, how much lobbying he had to do for either adding/deleting Secularism in our Preamble?

Hijacking of Islam
You have got it right. Muslims are a besieged lot now and their irrational reactive anger is most reserved for the fringe elements among them..
But it is not that strange!
Fear of deprivation, Fear of unknown, Fear of losing one`s authority have been the primary reason for the majority of human conflicts,

Revisionism at it`s height of immaturity...
You can blame Gandhi , but not his sincerity on the issue of co-existence between all religions.. And Congress of 1940s, atleast at the high level has more or less the same view. Of course, we have leader like Patel who believed different, but I strongly suspect Nehru is cut from the same cloth..

Sorry to say this, but you are on the losing side of the argument. Not in the theoritical sense (you seem to have a valid point), but from a practical sense...
There seems to be an overwhelming number of Muslims who refuse to accept you and their opinion makers are far more powerful than you..
As I see it, you have limited choices: Stand your ground and get prosecuted, convert into something (mainstreet Islam or other religion) or move out..
The irony is that the main stree Muslims in India might soon arrive at this stage

Leaving all this Kargil nonsense aside, looks like this mohajir is still hustling well. He wrote a book of half truths, did some good PR (how many can get people talking about his book in a meeting with Bush) and now must be raking in some good moolah....Good for him and we only have ourselves to blame (of course, more so pakis than indians..)

Hang Guru, if that helps
We should not decide on the execution issue based on whether he would or not become a martyr. What`s the garuntee that he would not be exchanged in another hostage issue and be made a bigger martyr?
Having said all this, this guy seems to have won his life by helping the prosecution. If his information was that useful, that has to amount for something...

A good article. As you said, Vatical should be the last group to comment on religious extremism..
But leaving the untimeliness and unfair representation of history by Pope aside, there is a merit to his argument. Muslim world needs to be dragged from middle ages..

On another note, there is a very strong local movie industry in AP, Tamil Nadu and a reasonably strong one in KN, Kerala, WB. Your information on that needs to be updated,

Notwithstandng the recent turn of events, Blair had earned tremendous respect of anti-Islamist forces world wide. His tremendous grasp of the challenges and sophisticated `sell` of the struggle to lay public has been invaluable in this continued fight against Islamic Terror..He might get lampooned in his last stages as PM, but future generations will remember him fondly for saving us from this scourge,
