Rape and Exploitation - Pakistan’s Dilemma
Posted by friend Sep 19, 2005 03:26 pm
Salim
Kindly do not treat this as a feeding frenzy at Mushy`s expense. Mushy represents that environment in our communities where powerful always gets away with anything - whether it is rape of a woman or rape of principles.
It is everyone`s frustration coming out. It is also coming out with a hope that perhaps this time we can get a big guy to act properly and make corrections to our ``diseased`` system.

I am not chasing mushy because he is Pakistani. Mushy`s mirror images are in India too. Do you think anything positive can now happen to Sonia Naz? Even if a court now convicts the perpetrators, tomorrow another Sonia Naz will get raped.

This is a diseased system and a prime symbol of that system, Mushy is a reasonable target.
Rape of another Kind

#27 Dear sir
What Mushy did was condoning ``rape``. If leader of a nation can take this position (of women getting raped to get VISA), it is not just stupidity of an individual, it shows his lack of understanding of the issues facing his nation. His nation obviously treats him like a demigod and learns from him. I won`t be surprised if someone uses his lines as an argument in a court case.

Example must be set from the top

Ferocity and rage to Mushy`s behavior is really a good thing to happen. If this rage can result in something concrete (e.g. his sacking) than it would act as a deterrant to anyone trying to condone (or participate) in acts of rape, or acts of supporting rape.

Otherwise people will pay just lip service to all sermons and keep raping women.

Now this faisaluno comes up with another excuse --

3. Rape of Pakistani women is justified because Turkish and Indians do so

Earlier two excuses were

2. You can have sex with a woman in Pakistan if she lets you enter her house
1. Pakistani women get raped to make money and get Canadian Visa.

We still have place for few more gems!!

I am not sure how this incidence can be tolerated anywhere. DSP in Sonia Soz is still under investigation. But this Mushy guy is now on record justifying such behavior. Their should be a no-tolerance policy towards everyone - even if that person is prophet himself, everywhere - in India, Pakistan, and rest of the world.

This Mushy guy should have been locked up in a NY jail cell and given an opportunity to earn a green card.

``I love it how Indians love to exploit all such things and it gets their creative juices flowing... when Pakistan is getting a bad rep... This.. coming from the land of millions of phoolan devis, honour, caste etc. ``

Wow! so now it is ``our internal issue`` stuff. When it is Kashmiri`s right than it becomes Pakistani`s birthright to get involved. When it is a question of human rights in their own country than it becomes a question of ``biradari``!!

Yaseer - BTW is your family interested in migrating to Canada?

Another disgusting defender of faith!!

Another pathetic attempt based on I am not saying that Shazia got raped willingly but people say so!!

So anyone who is permitted by your mother to come inside your house is permitted to have sex with her? Is this custom of your land?

What is article about? Is it some lame attempt to justify what Musharraf said?

``Perhaps what Musharraf is so angry about is exactly this: the violence that is being inflicted upon our country through the crime of rape. Blaming the victim is a gross misunderstanding on his part; he must retract his statement, or at least replace it with a clarification that would do his stance more justice. What he tried to say to the Washington Post is that women are not the only victims of rape; Pakistan is becoming the victim of a type of “political” rape through the subsequent “exploitation” (in his eyes, anyway) of the rape victims, to the detriment of Pakistan’s image. ``

Why Pakistanis still won`t admit that they have a scoundral running their nation? Such type of comments made by anyone in a corporate setup will lead to his immediate sacking. Why are you willing to tolerate Mushy ``if he just clarifies``? Still pleading and hoping that Mushy will be next prophet !

A disgusting article by a woman!!

Here is one better solution
1. Pakistan gives up autonomy
2. India takes over Pakistan
3. Constitution is changed to make sure that anyone remotely connected with Islam can not be take any judicial, legistative or executive positions (or better - Islam is declared illegal)

(Having said that, no one other than Bengalis, wanted independence from Pakistan, as a majority. Sindhis, Pathans and Hunszkusts etc. don`t want independence. They are happy with Pakistan. Bengalis wanted it, and should have been given it peacefully. Everyone would have been better off.)

Did you conduct a vote to determine this? Conduct a ``free`` vote and you may get a surprise!!

DM#52 and Hamidm#53
Kashmir was nothing but a case of gross mismanagement that was exploited by Pakistanis on religious grounds.
If Kashmiris had any love for Pakistan, they would not have captured ``these liberators`` during operation Grand Slam and handed over to India.

This raaga of people wish sung by HamidM and Romair will make sense if they will apply that to people of Pakistan and let them decide their own destiny. Where do they think NWFP will go if they allow them to vote between Afghanistan and Pakistan? And which direction will Sindh go?

Pakistani`s are very fond of searching for root-cause. As aptly said by Tony Blair, root cause is doctrine of Islamic fanaticism propagated primarily by Pakistan which assumes that a democracy based on Quaranic principles and a judiciary based on Shariat is only possible form of society.

Kashmir is infected by this disease and even though it is painful for India to do so, India must disinfect itself of this disease before it spreads out in the world.
Katrina: An Abdication of Responsibility
Posted by friend Sep 3, 2005 06:08 am
American respose to Katrina leaves me stunned. I remember a flood in Delhi`s outskirts and Haryana in 1979 when large parts of west Delhi were flooded. Within hours all schools buildings were take over as shelter for the victims, langars started distributing food, and school were closed for more than two weeks (I remember our enjoying school closures)

If 100,000 plus people in that city could be left orphaned, than it may happen to other cities too. I think now it makes sense to own a gun in this country.

I have decided not to respond, but I wonder why the newspaper thinks what that lady says is so very significant that in the course of 4 days she gets to publish two letters on the same subject. Is the media happier with this image of Muslims?

Wow! Head you win, tail I loose!! Some muslim mahila wants to support Fatwa. And media is to be blamed for publishing her views!!

Even if has those stanzas, what is offending about them? Is that about mention of Lakshmi and Durga?
For all I know from our JNU trained historians, Lakshmi, Durga and Kali were pre-aryan dieties that got incorporated in aryan divinity.

How can a nation that greets each other with Allah Hafiz, and mentions khuda in its national songs, claim right to criticize vande-matram for mentioning Durga and Lakshmi?
