Assessing Pakistani Science

swarrier #293

``However in terms of Behram, his posts are not very accurate. He`s like the ``Nowhere man``. He writes what he wants to write. And in truth, vituperation aside, I find his posts mildly amusing and sometimes boringly repititve.``

Simmi,
I do not know anything about Pakistani education system, and hence won`t comment on that. However, I can safely convey my gratitude my satisfaction towards Indian education system where I could study in a Rs 12 per month government school, and than could get educated from world class professors at less than Rs 300 per month. I can state with confidence that I am not an exception. A large percentage of my friends are from rural background. God bless our education system in India..

If Behram is typical of engineers coming out of Pakistani education system than Pakistani education system is in real crisis.

My dear Warrier sahib,
In case you didn`t notice, less than 10 posts on this board discussed original subject.

Bava ji has been jumping up and down like a monkey and I am only supporting his assertion that US holds Pakistanis in high esteem.

I didn`t make original statement ``Pakistanis sell their mothers for few dollars``. A high ranking US official made that statement. I am sure that Bava ji used this claim as one of the certificates.

Bava ji #289

Yes do get rid of hate mongers, but what will you do about those Pakis who, when asked where are they from, answer that their origin is in India and refuse to admit any link to Paki land.

(BTW, do tell us how many $$ you charge for your mother..)

The US is well served by Pakistanis only. The hindoo hate mongers should be removed from the US for many reasons which the MNCs are trying to push it under the carpet.

Yes yes bava ji,

Pakistani are known to be loyal servant everywhere. In fact a certificate was awared in USA few years ago that very clearly stated that Pakistani are so loyal to USA that they will even sell their mothers for few dollars.

We know of a very well serving Pakistani who now sits in Islamabad and directs US bombers to targets in Pakistan.

And don`t worry, you are also named as one of those well serving Pakistanis.

Painters and artists tend to find art in naked bodies, and personally I respect their freedom to do so.
So this particular painting merits do criticism. However if art starts including ``saraswati`` or ``ganesha``, in a form that can be seen as demeaning, than I would have concerns. If Hussain (or anyone else) want to paint naked bodies, they should paint nude models, may be from their own family.

Is the Koran Truly Amazing?

Masadi saheb
So The Quran, word of the God, is merely narrating the ``observation`` of Zulqarnain, which we can ignore as optical illusion. It could have very clearly stated the fact that Earth is revolving around the Sun and Sun never sets!
Have you ever heard of people who explain ultimate truth in verses of the Gita, or in the Bible?

Why don`t you just explain contradictions in Ramanjan`s post #85? If he is incorrect than you should be able to prove that.

The Algebra of Arundhati’s Injudiciousness
Posted by friend Jan 24, 2006 12:36 pm
Even though it does not matter at all, for once I agree with FV..

Arundhati Roy`s crusade appears to be heading towards a confusing direction. On one hand she is ok with accepting hugs from people (read `white people`) who may be contributor to world problems that she is crusading against. On other hand, she is trying to project herself higher than her compatriots (Is is because they are not white enough?)

It would have made sense if she rejected ``brooker`` because those prizes are usually meant to promote western idea of ``good`` and ``bad``...

Regards

Masadi,
Just because tahmed disagrees with you- he doesn`t become a fool. He has been a voice of reason and moderation on this website for over 7 years.
Please disagree but civilly.

I studied in a ``sarkari`` school, and AFAIK, my 12th board exam papers had only a role number field and didn`t have a religion column.
I could also get into an IIT, and there too there was no religion field in entrance exam paper. Recently a rikshaw puller daughter got selected to medical school in Maharashtra. My colleague and room mate in Tata`s graduate engineer hostel was a Christian who graduated from Vellore (not a minotiry college). Another colleague was a muslim girl who graduated from Delhi college of engineering.

Why a ``minority`` institution is necessary to ensure education of minorities? I would understand reservations till 12th grade to ensure that any social hesitation (inherited through parents) in accepting and intermingling with other groups/religions is overcome. Reservations at higher level hinders motivation to excel. Higher education should be based on merit. That is only way to motivate all to learn.

Dear editor sahiba #364
India (or any other nation) has all the rights to decide who they will talk to and deal with. Mushy rule in Islamabad is not legal and who knows what will happen to any agreements made by Mushy. Mushy certainly didn`t honor any initiatives taken by earlier Pakistani leaders. He is still trumpeting his rudely awakening world to the reality of Kashmir through Kaegil operations

``All this while, our relations with our arch enemy India saw several ups and downs. There was the much trumpeted bus journey of Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee to Pakistan in 1998 and my supposed refusal as the Army Chief to meet or shake hands with him. Then came the Kargil Operation with all its reality and distortions. It proved a lesson to the Indians and a rude awakening to the world of the reality of Kashmir.``

You must be mad to suggest that Indians must trust Mushy!!

You chose an interesting subject. Very recently I noticed that several people that I always thought to be Indians were actually from kenya, South Africa, Zambia and Mauritius, and had been living there for 3 or 4 generations. Amazingly some of them were following Indian customs more strictly than us first generation NRIs.

And all members of Indian diasphora have experiences similar one you quoted about restaurant. 10 or 11 years ago I and a friend were walking in Sandy Springs area of Atlanta. A cab stopped near us and desi cab driver asked us in Panjabi if we were lost. Though we were not he took us to our apartment (he did charge us for the ride), gave his address and invited us home. He was from Pakistan.
