Hoodbhoy`s arguments r less about him and his activism and more about the HEC`s policies. If HEC and Ata are not beyond question, then one should not stop any Hoodbhoy or any Daudpota from criticising HEC or Ata.
You should more worry about why Daudpota was fired than why he ever objected publicly.
Instead of forcing compliance, we should encourage and tolerate dissent. What is happening b/w HEC and Hoodbhoy is really very good. If HEC feels forced to change the title of course this time, we might anticipate, next time, they might as well don`t fund souch ludicurous projects

Am I Insane?
u have the audacity to disparage ur spouse`s family by labeling them as uneducated and ``rags to riches``. And looking at ur brother`s response, it seems to me that u and ur family r not that behind either in their jahalat.
u said: ``Belonging to an educated family unlike my in-laws ( just rags to riches) I have a sophisticated way of doing things. It may seem normal to many of you but having three course meals with starters is not a trend with my in laws! They labeled me too modern and outgoing. New York maybe in America but for everyone but my in laws, they think it is in Pind Dhadan Khan. ``
If u r so liberated and modern, y the hell u married a guy without living with him?
Who was holding a pistol on ur head to marry a pakistani and muslim guy ?

I guess Musharraf is more equivalent of Taliban, whom Afghans loathe but consider as a necessary evil, for providing security.

Maybe it is because Pak army has decided to surrender before foreign enemies/challengers on all issues, but NOT READY to make any concilliations with the Pakistani civilians?

What Does It Mean to be a Muslim in a Secular Country?
in my view, state should not have even anything to do with marraige of two persons or any other animals. It is personal, and it should be left like that. When state decides on the issues of divorces and monetray settlements, it wreaks all havoc on other areas (like who should be able to marry). The probelm is not homosexuality or religous persecution....It is more a problem of strong governments, and lack of respect for people ability to evolve on their own. We can stretch this argument to areas, where we will see that powerful institutions and ppl`s view of them as `necessary evils` is the major hindering block in natural evolution.
When we say that Ahmedis should have equal rights in Pakistan, we r actually not answering the main questions: y do we have such structure, where even the ability to deny a community`s rights is with 1 or 2 institutions? Ahmedis might be hated by 90% ppl in Pakistan, that should be OK. But their ability to segregate ppl along some lines should be questioned in every one`s interest.

Nothing is wrong with that, as long as nothing is wrong with keeping mistresses!I wonder how we can expect of fulfilling all our needs from one person? Just the way we change our friends in the course of lifetime, y marriage should be excluded from this normal evolution of a man in his life? People change, their interests change, and they get bored of one or other parts of their lives.

Any man, who considers sex as sacred, might suffer from ED. Sex is just a hot monkey sweaty act, and lets not induce religousity and sacredness in it.But just a Q out of curiosity: Does Islam allow licking ``holyiest of holyies``? Is it sunnah?
Karachi Blast - The Untold Story
1. Create a large guarded prison, with electric wires around it.
2. Build immam barghas and sunni mosques as mud houeses
3. Put bomb and arsenals in secret places around the prison.
4. Leave die hard sunni and shia moulvis inside it.
5. Live telecast them 24/7
6. Lets hope they blow out each other in 1-2 days. See who wins
7. Ask ppl to bet on who will blow the other in the next attempt. Get advertisement agencies to finance the whole setup
My friends, this is real-time tv Al Qaeda style.
Benefits:
1. We will quench animal instincts of ppl thru thier religous leaders
2. We will isolate bombings and violence in controlled manner
3. Any moulvi who says one thing against the other sect will be sent in the real-time prison
This is win-win situation

Another Forgotten Hero of Pakistan
Now, what is going on in theis artcile and the thread, is that we recreating history to invent leaders. ``Mian Iftikharuddin`` is dead like Jinnah. They were all ineffective people for obvious reasons that we r all witnessing. What Jinnah thought of Pakistan, doesn`t matter. What ppl of Pakistan want, does. What ppl wanted before 1947 did matter, not what the leaders and demagoges did. People made the history, their laziness or their hard efforts. And they did what they did, is based on the culture and the particular environment/setup. This is how history should be read. Merely analysing some Tom dick and Harry (and what was in their tiny minds) would not lead us anywhere.

To me, it is surprising that ppl dig deep in the history to look for some `leaders` whose thinking resembles theirs. It is perhaps pathetic, if the motive is to increase the self-esteem of the self or the nation. Now, what is going on in theis artcile and the thread, is that we recreating history to invent leaders. ``Mian Iftikharuddin`` is dead like Jinnah. I guess he was the one long incarcereted during Zia era. When he came out of jail, we, in communist party`s students wing, sincerely thought he would lead the progressive movement in late 80s. The drunken b@stard married a very young girl, and then joined tableeghi jamaat !

What Is the Point of Marriage?
<

Lets restrict our interactions to exchanging body fluids. Lets elevate `vows` to more than human interactions.
btw, when was the last time u talked to a sheep? how can u exchange vows then?
While we r here, what was the last time u really asked a girl how she feels about u, rather than sending ur mother to talk to her mother? Lets first elevate women status in ur society, then talk about sheeps and dogs.

So why do gay men want to marry? Just a recognition thing. Once they r done with it, they would be `normal` again.

marriage is a chick thing. I have been persistently asking my fiance to move in with me, but she has to prepare for wedding and stuff. The corporations have also created the concept of diamonds as `show of eternal love`, so there goes my $ 10K. Its all about corporations manipulation of lazy workforce, which relies on `working workforce`So why do gay men want to marry? Just a recognition thing. Once they r done with it, they would be `normal` again.
