Maniza Naqvi: Writing for a Cause
Posted by sal. Sep 1, 2004 06:51 am
i just love the last paragraph of this article. I completely agree with everything in this paragraph, not that the rest doesnt make sense, its just that in the last paragraph the things said, I have been thinking along the same lines for a while, and its nice to see someone putting them to words.
We all are different from eachother, yet the problems faced by people are similar everywhere. Be it Pakistan, Argentina, America, or India, we all go out in the morning for work to make money to feed our families and provide shelter for our loved ones. That never changes. I go to university in Canada, and I had the pleasure of making friends with some Indian students, and living with them for a long period of time made me realize how alike we all are, and how all are problems are similar. Made me realize that no matter what situation or condition you find yourself in, hearache and happiness will acompany us, along with all the emotions that are felt by everyone else. The emotions that make us what we are, humans.

this was simply one of the truest articles i have read in a while. Simply beauitful. I love how you were managed to place all your ideas in this article so perfectly. I am a moderate muslim, growing up in North America, and for the last 4 years I have been having the same arguments about politics, religion and society with my pakistani friends. Finally someone agrees with my ideas and puts on paper my vision of pakistan and my point of view of the problems facing my country. Good Job.

I am extremely shocked that...there would be this many gay people in Pakistan, i can unsderstand india, but pakistan...anyhow thats not exactly a bad thing....equality is the most important thing a state strives to achieve....and in order to do that the society needs to accept these people as there is nothing wrong with them, as Mr. Khurram so rightly states...we all commit sins...and most of them are considered `ok` by the society then why not homosexuality...not that its a sin, but why discriminate against someone because of their sexual orientation...
I havent been to Pakistan for the longest time...but i have been told that the society is much more open...i hope there is hope for the helpless gay community of Pakistan.
