No discussion about female aggression can be complete without reference to the recent laws in India regarding divorce.

Just as marriage is acceptable to society, so should divorce. With the freedom of women of the world today, divorce should be blamed as much on the woman as the man, and hence maintainence laws etc. too should factor this in.

That thoughts become reality is indisputable.
However, this cannot justify Jesus and Mohamad seeing and imagining things, which has gone too far, and possibly was caused by undiagnosed schizophrenia.
As for religion, here are my favourite quotes :
“All religion, my friend, is simply evolved out of fraud, fear, greed, imagination, and poetry”
Edgar Allan Poe
``A thorough reading and understanding of the Bible is the surest path to atheism”
Donald Morgan
“People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.”
Dave Barry
“I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world.”
Richard Dawkins
“A man who is not afraid is not aggressive, a man who has no sense of fear of any kind is really a free, a peaceful man.”

Revathy was one of the few writers on chowk who wrote for the pleasure of writing, rather than to belittle anyone.
I shared Revathys views about god and religion, and remember what she wrote in support of one of my articles a little more than a year ago:

Bravo, Mr. Parthasarathy. I applaud your courage and frankness in saying what many people probably feel but are too timorous to say out aloud. Humanity as a whole seems to have lapsed considerably into tribalism instead of bringing barriers down crashing and seeing the strong common threads that hold us all together. What boring gods we have created! Little better than the angry old men of the tribe, gods who are petty and vengeful, gods who have created a violent, unjust world.
The word `religion` stinks, but let us admit that man and his need for transcendance have created great art, great literature, great music. Think of the wonders of temple architecture, great Islamic mosques and the cathedrals of Europe that soar towards the sky! Such a pity that they do not house gods worthy of them.

Chowk is a big family, though we do not by and large, know each other personally. Many are acccomplished writers, and yet are anonymous. Revathy was one of the few writers on chowk who wrote for the pleasure of writing, rather than to belittle anyone.

J.K., the modern `mystic`? Not to me.
This soft spoken, well-meaning, articulate and respected gentleman was the sharpest intellect of the 20th century. His understanding of the working of the human mind is unparalleled.
If M.K. Gandhi was the master of being non-violent in practice, JK was its master in theory.
What did he think of religion?
`WHEN you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence ...
... So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.`
All I have to add is absolute silence.

Teaching Science Badly – and Well
Teaching in the subcontinent is oriented towards biased versions of history, language and religion.
The phobia towards teaching science is amply evident, and deplorable. This must be corrected.

Sorry to hear about your dads passing away.
The probablity of infection spreading from the knee to the brain is lesser than strokes from blood clots as a result of lack of medical prophylaxis for this.
In either case, your doctor could have plenty of explaining to do.
