They should follow the lead of their couterparts in India and do things for themselves and make sh*t happen for themselves as Pak govt. or ppl will do jack to help them.

They`re going to have to be proactive in trying to make society at least tolerant of them.
Save this Cultural Heritage

oh my god, stupid PC vallahs if they had any akil they would restore the old haveli and make it into a 5 star hotel suite thing like some of the old havelis of India. I hope they dont knock it down!

Khair, if the dancing girls could dance and people (normal people) could go just to watch them dance and pay money, then maybe they wouldn`t need to sell themselves as they could make money from their performances.

But, alas, our people and culture is not that far ahead yet!!!
A cliché from Nawab Din’s Story

Bechara Baba ji,

I hope his wish is granted and India lets him stay in his pinD. I dont think this case will have any implications as this guy i stoo old and he is not claiming property or anything, just his right to live the last few years of his life there. It would be a different story if my dad went to India and refused to come back and asked for his land/house back. But this guys way too old for any punga like that.

Be nice to him Indians and help him!

Violence Against Women

Emma

We just have to look at our own mothers to see what happens to women in Pakistan. When my mother got married my Nani said to her `you leave this house in a doli, when you leave that house it will be in a coffin`

My mother is of a different generation and time who accepted their parents decision without question. The mantle is with the younger women who will have to empower themselves, cause the men are not going to do it, as it goes against their interests. You have a long struggle ahead of you, God bless and good luck!

But at the heart of Pakistan’s problems lies a truth – one etched in stone – that when a state proclaims a religious identity and mission, it is bound to privilege those who organize religious life and interpret religious text. Since there are many models and interpretations within every religion, there is bound to be conflict between religious forces over whose model shall prevail. There is also the larger confrontation between religious principles and practices and what we now consider to be ‘modern’ ideas of society, which have emerged over the past several hundred years.

The crux of the matter, the ONLY thing that will help Pakistan is to make religion a personal choice and become a secular country as we were meant to be, Just like India and if the overly Islamified Pakistanis dont like the example of India then tell them Turkey.

A religious state can never succeed, Look at Pakistan when we were secular, before we added Islamic to our name, we were a much more successful country then, with a lot more unity. Pakistaniyat should be our guiding light and principle and not that of any faith, as every faith and every variety of Islam is practised by people who are Pakistani.

Maybe now the time is ripe/right for a secular Pakistani movement to gain ground and start doing something!

Mumbai Rocked by Seven Bomb Blasts

Devkant,

Shaheed is used not only for people who willingly give their lives up, but for those who die in accidents and such, and other situations. It is beleved that their sins are cleansed and they go to the next life pure. Hence the use of the word Shaheed.

Thanks
Ally

wiseguy

Tareekh means `History` the rest is Hindi. And as Fuzair said, Muslims of East Punjab were like Hindus and Sikhs of West Punjab, unaware and unwilling to leave, They didn`t choose Paksitan either, but were forced to go there by Sikhs and Hindus who were murdering all Muslim ppl. But khair i`ve already explained that to you below, and you still didn`t get it, seems like you are very blinded by your hate. Oh and that civilisation you talk about, i also belong to it and take great pride in it, and just so you know, it all started in the land that is now Pakistan!

Ciao!!!

The Muslim league may have asked for it, but does that make the Muslim suffering in India any less than the Hindu and Sikh one? Many of the people who lived their lives normally in India hadn`t heard the name Pakistan till the morning they had to leave chased by kirpan weilding Sardars and Hindus!!!

The politicians may have chose it, but most ppl ended up being in either India or Pak by default, and if they moved it wasn`t thru choice but thru majboori (for the most part in Punjab and Bengal)

So spare me the crap about `you dont care about Hindus and Sikhs` and `you asked for it` pehle apney girehbaan meiN dekho, aur apni tareekh ko samjho...

Nice write up, you`ve written as an observer, very informative and gave some glimpses of Isreal that we would not normally get. Look forward to more of your travelogues, only next time dont make them so long and break them up a little. Thanks a mill

I don`t hear a word from you about the Hindus and Sikhs who used to live in Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Baluchistan

The same can be said about the millions of Muslims who lived in Punjab and Bengal and were driven out, as well as the millions from other parts of India, infact more Muslims were driven out and killed than vice versa. Open the one sided narrow mind to understand the other. Many would easily call BJP/VHP/Shiv Sena Isrealis of South Asia. It works both ways!

As for the content of his post, you have to understand that along with Kashmir, Pakistanis have Palestine and lately Chechnya and Bosnia ingrained into them since they are kids, esp the ones who live/born/bought up in the west. This is his reaction, why get your Karma and aura in a twist and cause disharmony within yourself by the contents of his post?
