A Day In The Bazaar

though i admire the kind of ideas that your writing revolves around, i wish you wouldnt be so damn direct sometimes, such as:

``his birth was celebrated as if he was a first-born (Nusrat did not count, for she was a girl). ``

its better to be a bit more subtle
The Urdu Press in New York

Its lovely that you translate in order to make the what the urdu journalists write more accessible. Moreover the quality and range of their writing is interesting, from the reference to Sylvia Plath`s poem to the male/female quality of Nirma`s dancing. I just want to say something to #3 kashifaziz, to chuck his holier-than-thou attitude out the window. Are there not Muslim brethren in the States?

Shaping the Grayness

FarzanaVersey & GhalibZaman,

Truthfully speaking, but quite shamefully so, I Dont read and write urdu too well! But i still keep trying to develop a habit of reading urdu.
Its quite interesting to hear that you think this piece is like a miniature painting, because at the moment that is exactly what I`m doing, painting in the miniature technique!
