The Not So Rational Beings
Posted by Gnostic Jan 29, 2003 05:52 pm
Granted that relativism was killed after WWII [in particular], it doesn`t mean that the anthropologists and other social philosophers of the time were infallible and that the idea cannot be rejuvenated again even -- and you will agree with me here, I know you well -- if it is the acceptance of capital punishment though not of murder and head-hunting in such societies.

bahmad #991

Dear bahmad:

Thank you for your prompt response to my query in my post(#990).

The next para in that post was also a request to you about getting me some information on the August 13 issue of the paper. Should you have a copy, then, I shall be grateful to receive it from you at the e.mail address indicated there. I made that request for the reasons I indicated, also, in that same paragraph. Please help.

Sincerely,

Ref. Zeemax 954-55

You see Zeemax, my strategy to deal with anger, frustration, disappointment, agony, and tyranny, mixed with the feelings of helplessness and powerlessness (de-powered? social impotence?), is to go autobiographical.

Recalling and recountinting of my turning points in life, moments of unusual fortitude, always rejuvenate me. They tell me, ``yes, I can; yes, I can``.

And by God, yes, haq hai keh I can! And, so can you.

We have the brains and we have the power. All of us.[Even Umairr and Assad_K!]

Re. #200

Erratum

In the 3rd para, line 3, please insert the words ``democratic system``, between `i.e.`, and `viewed`. Without this correction the sentence does not convey the meaning which was intended.

My apologies for this oversight, and thank you.

SameerJB #1133

Sameer: A quick response. Shayam was a Sialkotia, unquestionably. One person, Ijaz Mohsin, a Christian friend, claims he was Shayam`s classmate in F.A./F.Sc at the Murray College. [Why Christian? So you know I trust his word].

For a long period of time Dev Anand did not contradict statements that he was from Sialkot. Then last year on the ``Bus`` trip he said he was from Lahore. From among the ones whose names You or I have mentioned, these are the only two names that come to mind with the mention of Sialkot. Shayam was a bonafide Sialkotia. Dev Anand can change his mind, now.

I know Meena Kumari was from Lyallpur. If you like I could send a reference to you of a book on her life in pre-Pakistan days. The only uncertain fact discussed in that book is about her real name i.e.,whether Khursheed her birth name or changed during he early teens....

Who was the hero of ``Chan Wey``, you ask? I asked first!

Nobody knows. But he had Rs/30,000= !

Most sincerely yours,

Kafir K Khan

I agree with Zeemax view. What a beautiful suggestion. But the problem is how will you contrlo people like BB and NS. Who will abolish Zamidaari and tame Vaderahs. Look at India - it reduced the influence of Zamindar by Land Ceiling Act, Bhoodan Project run by Vinoba Bhave and

abolishing princely perks etc. Who is going to curtail Maulanas ? ``
