Does Islam, in fact, Encourage Paedophilia?
Posted by ballukhan Jul 23, 2007 09:52 am
1. Age of consent does not guarantee that the consent is obtained, it only increases the probability that the individual girl would be mentally and physically strong to resist pressure- but that does not happen often.

2. consent to marriage in most of the patriarchal societies are enforced through parental and peer pressure. This is an ugly truth of these societies.

3. paedophilia was almost a norm in these patriachal societies. For females, the first menstruation has been the universally accepted sign for entry into women hood.

I would not get too worried about it- except that mullah gardi tries to justify his own paedophilia by referring to hadiths. Paedophilia is a crime in the modern times- that is the end to it!! And mullah gardi would not be allowed to turn us back into those 'golden' ages of universal paedophilia.

Re: # 282

What is necessary is complete separation of religion from statecraft.

We need to roll back all those Islamic and Christian republics.

Recently, Nepal which was the only hindu state world wide turned into a secular state.. There was hardly a hue and cry about Hinduism Khatre Mein.

We need to roll all these Islamic states back into secular republic. Start with Pakistan.

There is no need to ban religions. Let people who want to pray to their realities do that at their cost.

``then not losing any opportunity to attack Islam ..``

So the Fatwa has been seconded by another chowk mullah. Ah, now that Mush is going to smoke out the mullahs from Lal Chowk all these mullahs are teeming up calling it an ``attack on Islam``....

Any way, Jihad has already been declared against mush by these hijr* mullahs and their supporters. Come on , let us see if you can win.

This is the finest victories for the modern Pakistan.

Long live modern Pakistan!

Down with the hijr* mullahs!!

Masadi,

I think that that you should be shut out from chowk as they have shut you out from the modern civilization. Your abusive Ad-Hominems are so glaring that even Al Zawahiri`s curses pales in comparison.
You are mouthing imbecilities like all those Al Qaeda apologists from Lal Masjid after realizing how your Ghazi has been humiliated and looks like a hijr@ in that burqa.

Please close down these horrible places of brainwashing the young. It is nauseating to see these young and masum children being turned into violent and hate filled demons by these mullahs.
Burn them down. I am glad Mush is doing the right thing now.

Masadi,

You cannot create a coherent argument without throwing in jargons and indulging in ad-hominems.

If you have a GUTS theory that you think has been revealed in the message then tell us how, than trying to abuse Gill Saheb and others.

Till then we can only laugh at your self conceited `knowledge` about your ``truths``.

``you have yet to understand strong arguments for the proof of existence of god.``

I have already provided atleast 50 `proofs` for existence of God on the Chowk on other boards - and all of them were `good` enough for any looney who wants to buttress his faith through `proofs`.

The issue of ``faith`` versus ``reason`` has been the centre of debate in christian theology since ages and the only honourable solution for those who want to keep their faith is by not indulging in sophistry. One can understanding God and his message only through the language of ``metaphors`` as Gill Saheb rightly suggests and not through ``science``.

Theology and spirituality can never be a ``science`` and hence trying to construct ``proofs`` is a futile excercise.

I am yet to see a refutation of the classical problem of evil.

I am yet to see a strong argument for the proof of existence of god.

It is amazing to see superstition of a deity called god running the lives of millions of human beings.

Thats true. There can only be hope when people like him start participating in restoration of democracy than distibuting sweets after every military coup.

Allama Iqbal- Is he still relevant?

My advice to those who want to re-imagine afresh the Pakistani nation`s identity.

Forget about Jinnah, forget Partition, forget Iqbal.

Do not think that re-construction of Pakistan would imply some sort of a reconstuction in Islam.

Do not waste your energies in trying to strengthen some theological principles whose fresh exegesis cannot match those of the mullahs.

Just struggle for one notion- i.e. secularism.

Forget all those illusions about some imaginary leadership of ummah - only then can one think about re-imagining Pakistan`s identity as a modern state.

Just struggle for turning Pakistan into a secular and multi cultural nation.

Boom in Female Wealth Creation Driven by Business Success

LONDON, June 11 /PRNewswire/ --

- Business Success is Driving Female Wealth Creation Globally, Resulting in a Larger Number of High Net Worth Women

- Inheritance and Marriage are no Longer Lead Sources of Wealth

- Women are Often More Thoughtful and Purpose-Driven When it Comes to Investment Behaviour

A report published today by Barclays Wealth reveals that the affluence and influence of women is growing and is increasingly fuelled by their own individual enterprises - highlighting that the perception of inheritance and marriage as the lead sources of female wealth is out-dated.

In partnership with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a new global survey of 600 wealthy individuals(1) published in Barclays Wealth Insights: A Question of Gender, reveals that the vast majority of women are generating their wealth independently.

Wealth is largely driven from earnings and business ownership (83.9 per cent) or from personal investments (32.8 per cent). This compares to marriage (24.7 per cent), divorce (2.2 per cent) and inheritance (19.9 per cent), which the research shows are becoming less important sources of wealth.

Women`s growing economic power is reflected in the increase between 2006 and 2007 in the number of women featured on the Sunday Times Rich List, which grew from 81 to 92. The combined wealth of Britain`s richest women in 2007 is GBP33.27bn. Meanwhile, it is predicted that by 2020, female millionaires will outnumber male millionaires in the UK at 53 per cent. Behind the US, the UK has the highest proportion of women in managerial positions among OECD countries, with 117 female directors of FTSE 100 companies, while 77 per cent of those companies have at least one woman on their board.

Amy Nauiokas, Managing Director and Head of Brokerage at Barclays Wealth, said: ``A Question of Gender presents a fascinating global picture of women and wealth trends - in particular the evidence which points to more women becoming independently wealthy via their job, ownership of a business, or from personal investment. While the more `traditional` drivers of wealth still play a part, they are no longer the dominant forces they once were. While it is not necessarily a case of providing women with a different service or products, it is crucial that the wealth management industry understands the motivations and needs women have, and that a one size fits all approach to managing this increasingly influential audience may not work.``

The survey also reveals that women are less likely than men to invest in the riskier end of the financial spectrum, such as private equity (15 per cent for men versus 7.5 per cent for women), derivatives (13 per cent versus 7 per cent) or hedge funds (14 per cent versus 12 per cent).

The differences also extend to investing a windfall. When asked how they would choose to spend a cash windfall of GBP100,000 (US$200,000), the majority of men said they would prefer to put the money in the stock market (18 per cent), but women have a greater propensity to avoid high risk, choosing instead to invest in their personal pension (13.5 per cent). This supports the view that women are more thoughtful and purpose-driven when it comes to investing, whereas men tend to look for income and growth.

Amy Nauiokas, concludes: ``Women will alter their approach as they reach their goal and will often act to protect what it is they have built up. But equally, when they are in the mindset that `this is for investment and saving` women are very diligent and plan well. They are also absolutely more disciplined in allocating a figure for the spending pot to enhance their lifestyle and enjoyment. ``

Indian business women beat the world
11 Jun, 2007 l 0126 hrs ISTlTIMES NEWS NETWORK
LONDON: Asian female-entrepreneurs are generating more wealth than women in any other region of the world, according to a new global survey of 600 wealthy people, making the Bharatiya nari and Chinese nu more driven and daring than her sisters elsewhere.

The report to be published on Monday by Barclays Wealth, Britain`s leading wealth manager with £93 billion client-assets globally, is seen to shatter the stereotypical belief that Indians and other Asian women rely on inheritance and marriage as the lead sources of their wealth.

Instead, the survey, which Barclays carried out in partnership with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), highlighted an important finding — that the vast majority of women are generating their wealth independently.

The survey titled `Barclays Wealth Insights: A Question of Gender` said that ``compared to any other global regions, the wealth generated by female entrepreneurship is highest in Asia, where 26% cite income from a business as their main source of wealth``.

Globally, only 20% of women cite income from a business as the main source of wealth. The survey said that today`s global picture of female wealth was largely driven from earnings and business ownership (83.9%) or from personal investments (32.8%), which compares favourably to marriage (24.7%), divorce (2.2%) and inheritance (19.9%).

Barclays used wealthy female Indian entrepreneurs including Kalpana Morparia, joint MD of ICICI Bank, and Perween Warsi, the multi-millionaire Bihari British founder and CEO of S&A Foods, on its ``insights panel`` for the survey.

Both Morparia and Warsi, who are used as case studies, have gone on record in the report to urge less emphasis on gender.
