The Calculus of Miscalculated Human Misery

Let this be the Humble Pie that these Paki Islamists require on their face regarding Iraq-

1. Start hundreds of civilian multi parties without religious agendas.
2. Conduct elections where parties cannot compete on religious and non-secular agendas.
3. Do not give any credence to militant groups. Outright ban them as out laws.
4. Promulgate a secular constitution with no reference to Islamic laws.
5. Arrest all the mullahs and send them to gitmos without worrying about anything else.

the moment Islamists find themselves debarred from sharing the power they would run and hide in their rat holes and blow themselves up to heavens............

Animism and Mythology

Re: # 52

``good`` people do not require theology to support their ``good`` actions..............if you try to do that then you would find yourself in the same boat as radical Islamists .......
The Apology of Socrates

``To question any pre-established belief in any society is always malevolent whether its Salman Rushdie`s Satanic Verses or Ahmadinejad questioning the Holocaust.``

Good comparisons here................Rushdie`s work was a fiction..........a story churned out of his fertile mind..............same with that idiot Ahmadinejad`s questioning of Jewish Holocaust..........

Socrates killing himself quietly without harming others for his truth is a lesson for all Jehadis.

Those who are eager to go to heavens and their world of ``Forms`` must emulate him than try and kill others in vengence!!!

We need to offer copies of ``Phaedo`` to all the Islamists.................

Re: # 42

That`s a loaded comment -

``True Religion`` , ``Valid elements`` all reveal the prejuduces laid down during one`s childhood.
That is the type of analyses I am looking at rathar than an analyses that presumes the ``truths`` of religions.
Animism is the corner stone of all great religions. The mind/body duality , the ghost-in-the-box notion of reality with heavy emphasis on ``Almighty`s will``-
This classical animism has permeated in our daily life with the profusion of praises and references to the ``almighty`s will``????
Religious Conservatism and Science
Posted by ballukhan Nov 13, 2006 06:49 pm
This is the final assault by the scientific thought on these marginalized mullahs and priests. They failed since Galileo`s inquest. They would fail again!! These mullahs and priests find themselves unemployed because they cannot push their mind control agendas on modern citizens due to technology and science. Their stupid thesis of ``God`s Will`` controlling the outcome of events is a discredited theory that they want to revive so that they can justify their criminal behaviour and 9/11-s in the name of ``God`s Will``.
The struggle is between the conservatives who would like to use religious prejudices to control human intelligence and scientific creativity in the name of ``ethics`` and ``morality``.
This is the last bastion- and these conservative mullahs and priests cannot stop scientists from developing such technologies which directly CHALLENGE the theology of these conservatives.
The question is -

Can we let some theology decide what scientists can and cannot do??

Isn`t this going back to the dark ages and accepting the supremacy of the mullahs and priest`s stupid theology??

Re: # 13

I would say that you are suggesting a functional view of animism and paganism.
Nothing wrong with that thesis, but I could see that you stopped yourself from extending it to all the great ``religions``.
Why??
Is that because our own prejudices appear to be protected from sucn a functional analyses of ``religions``.
Let me state again-

ALL RELIGIONS ARE ANIMISTIC!!

and calling one religions as ``false`` and another as ``true`` is only to state one`s prejudice!!

Only choutiyas would suggest that US is responsible for foisting dictators in countries like Pakistan.............that is nonsense........these dictators have come up because of the internal dynamics of these pure Islamic lands . To suggest that the coups , e.g that by Musharaff, was engineered with the help of US is like stretching our intelligence or even to suggest that US was distributing sweets on the streets of Islamabad after the coup is even more stupid suggestion................

The fact is that US has NOOOOOOOOOO control over these internal dynamics of Islamic purelands...............if that was so US would have got OBL and other terrorists hiding in Pakistan by now............this is another blame game and a favourite conspiracy theory foisted by the corrupt civilians , compradors and collaborators who have been profiting from the untramelled powers they share with the dictators.........................those who hoist this conspiracy theory want to hide THEIR OWN UNDEMOCRATIC, CRIMINAL ACTS BEHIND THIS CONSPIRACY THEORY of dictators, Criminals and Psycho Islamists coming to power because of US...............

These `educated` criminals from Pakistan are now getting exposed as the main actors and the puppetmasters behind the actions and workings of the criminal Islamists world wide..........

``Public fever in US, Britain and some other coalition countries is hitting their leader’s popularity. Their corrupt and the fallacious international relations have generated so much moral stress within their own parties that a large number of the legislators are now inclined to revolt. ``

pipe dreams of the wannabe jehadi master dreaming of starting a global ``revolt`` by sending a few trained jehadis at their POK camps to the so called regions of discontent.

Miyan........... first go back to your barracks and eat your rations like a honest military man than act like that Pakistani dictator`s boot licker who knows everything about world politics just because he has trained a few jahilyas in his camps to blow themselves up.

Animism and Mythology
Posted by ballukhan Nov 11, 2006 05:24 pm
``In Anthropology, these ‘approaches’ are generally classified as:

1- Animism
2- Mythology
3- Religion
``

Much of the classification and calling ``religion`` as an ``advancement`` to pagan-animistic thought is nonnsense. Simply because the body/spirit dualism is the basis of all religions.

Take this ``animistic`` thought away from these religions and you find all the great religions from Christianity, Islam to Hinduism falls falt like a pack of card.
All religions are animistic, anthropomorphic and superimposes human qualities on an external non-material entity called God/Almighy/Allah/Ishwar etc etc. This dualism of world/god is same as in the animistic dualism of body/mind or body/spirit.

Infact this dualism is very ancient and has been the basis of Platonic and Greek Matter/Form dualism.

Now consider the anthropomorphic bearings of the ``Classical `` religions. We superimpose the human emotions and attributes on the divine entities. What do you mean by ``infinite`` mercy/compassion/knowledge/understanding/power??? What do we mean by something happening because of the almighty`s ``will``? This is pure and classical animism that tries to explain a material event by taking recourse to a non-material cause (the ``Spirit`` or the ``Will of Almighty``)

The anthropomorphic bearings of the animistic classical religions becomes evident the more we read it and find the ``infinity`` speaking in our ears!!!

Wahabism in Centers of Learning

Way back in 1953 when MAulana Maududi was arrested he was called the ``most dangerous man`` in Pakistan...................now his followers have multiplied and populated themselves all over Pakistan turning it into the most dangerous place on the world..............

Re: # 138

A lot of perversion has taken place in the name of ``Classical Scholarship`` . Who decides what is `Classicial `` and what is ``Heretical`` Scholarship? Maududi Saheb`s works was indeed the paradigm of ``Classical Scholarship`` - why do you not ask the Jamat followers?
OTOH some of the new tafsirs may turn out to be path breaking. Most pious muslims and modern Mufassireen are realizing the need for modern tafsirs that are in sync with the modern times.

The message is indeed final but not the interpretation !!...............with the modern education you can do better than quoting over and over again from the ``Classical Scholars`` after all the almighty indeed shows the signs everyday to you and you can `read` them with your modern knowldge than ask the ``Shaykh`` all the time what these signs mean..............

Re: # 141

I am sure Hamid Saheb is no recommending daisy cutters for all of us........he certainly prescribes it for the literalists wahabists............the real problem are these chest thumping , sword brandishing ``pious`` type individuals who think they own the Pakistani constitution because they can quote from that choutiya Maududi.............they certainly need to be sent tp lunatic asylums - call these asylums as Gitmo or Commie style ``Correction Centres`` or whatever you want .........we need to send these mullahs (and some of these ``Peers`` and ``Shaykhs`` as well ) out of the civil society of Pakistan...........

Re: # 117

1. The Cohesion is the result of an elaborate system of forced piety, using peer pressure to subdue dissent in religious discussions, open espousal of belligerence and threats of violence to maintain a specific interpretations and exegesis - all of these are easily seen in African or Asian tribal orders some of which are alive. Many such tribal orders still believe that the earth is flat and the whites are devils because of the the forced ``consensus`` over these ``matters of fact`` which were established by their traditions. I doubt Max Weber`s analyses would work in such cases.

2
whahabism is like a child`s belief that the ball disappears and the then reappears when you hide it in a magical way and that there is no persistence of this ball. It is this simplicity of literalist interpretation that makes people believe is all those mythical entities that they visualize in their minds. It is easy to `understand` and hence its immense popularity but falls flat on analyses simply because of its insistence upon a literalist interpretation of the revelations it is open to empirical falsification.

3.``With every Muslim now a proud mujtahid, and with taqlid dismissed as a sin rather than a humble and necessary virtue, the divergent views which caused such pain in our early history will surely break surface again. Instead of four madhhabs in harmony, we will have a billion madhhabs in bitter and self-righteous conflict. No more brilliant scheme for the destruction of Islam could ever have been devised.``

More conspiracy theories!! Shaykh Abd al Hakim Murad is obviously going to lose his prized position as a ``Shaykh`` . He is going to stop getting those funds from the gullible muslims who dotes these Ayotollahs and Shaykhs. Obviously he is going to create this doomsday secenerio about Islam which would even without this `Shaykh`` continue to show light to the billions of faithfuls spiritually and would not remain a hand maiden of these Shaykhs and Mullahs.
