Losing the Battle, Losing the Faith
Posted by quest Oct 11, 2008 02:14 pm
whats the point of this author? sounds like he loves his blind-faith so much that even the events like islamists blowing up his country is making him more blind! and he blames the security forces of a poor country like pakistan trying their best by being out there with their limited resources loosing their own lives every week.
If only Ehtisham Iqbal could open up his eyes to the dangers of supporting islamists all the time.
That's the tragedy, if people of pakistan were generally against taliban, al-Qaida and fundamentalists we would'nt have this issue today.

Dr Afia Siddiqui\'s Case
Posted by quest Sep 8, 2008 07:33 am
Why don't put pressure on your local MP's and send official delegates to US to talk to the right people? what's the point spreading anger and frustration and encouraging extremism?! Innocent always suffer in Pakistan, most of the time by Pakistanis and sometimes by their closest ally USA. Not suggesting that Dr Afia is innocent as only a fair trial can prove that.
Why Zardari Should Be President!
Posted by quest Sep 3, 2008 07:06 am
The man is so controversial and notorious that for the sake of goodwill of the country he should not be made president. Some neutral figure should be the head of state.
However, I guess since he is not using force to declare himself president but using majority vote he sadly deserve the post. You have to give him credit for being the smartest criminal in the history of Pakistan.
Free to Breed

good article especially the comments about the TV hosts who are being sympathetic to terrorists.
This country is burning and a big blame can go to mullahs. The religuous services should be limited to funerals and marriage events. There is no other service a professional mullah can provide to add value to the society; everything else they do is destructive.
Neoliberalism and Madrassas: An Unholy Connection
Posted by quest Oct 27, 2007 01:09 pm
Very good Essay, however one question remained unanswered, where are the free Madrassas getting fundings from? We may blame SAP but isn't it also a case of some elements using this loophole? Are there islamists parties funding such madrassas to gain street powers? and who are funding them?

Problem with Islamists are that they will do whatever they want, no matter what. They call everything war and everything is fair in war ..atleast for them.

There is nothing wrong in getting views from people of all back grounds.
Preventing More Lal Masjids

Pervez Hoodbhoy is spot on. I also think that one reason of increased extremism in Pakistan is Gen Zia`s 11years. The generation brain washed in 80`s is now mature and resourseful and actively destroying the nation.
Allama Iqbal and His Women
Posted by quest Jun 11, 2007 07:37 am
It was good reading, goes to show that the great Iqbal was also a human being.
I`m not surprised that a man so creative had difficulty adjusting to the environment of controlled society and how ironic that his poetry was all about praising a religion that`s obsessed with `total control`!
Prophecy and the Mullah: Hotel Mohenjodaro
Posted by quest Jul 4, 2004 03:46 pm
Mullah should only be their to perform services on fridays and feunerals. Any other ideas mullahs have should keep it to themselves. End of the day all religions are fake, no point believing in one just because you were born in it.
Sex is Bad
Posted by quest Aug 14, 2003 10:17 am
RZaidi, Islam is not too different from any other religion. Sex is one of the most important issues in Islam. Whether its sex discrimination, sex punishments, sex stories, sex manners, sex laws or sex with 70 Hoors as a reward hereafter.
And those who do not practice or belive in Islam can not make Islam look like uncivilized barbaric religion.
Searching for Identity in Our Little Corner

Very good article. I hope one day they teach more Astronomy and World History in Pakistani schools than Islamiat and Arabic to discover our origin.

(AP) Pakistan has banned the latest issue of Newsweek`s international edition, saying an article on new interpretations of the Quran, the Islamic equivalent of the Bible, is offensive to Islam.
The information minister said Thursday that customs authorities have been ordered to seize copies of the edition.

hahahaha!oh my god!!!

I am glad I made you laugh:) I wish I had the same history teacher that you had. Forgive my spelling mistakes I am not good at spellings.
So considering you are right when was that most of the world`s population living around what is now called the Middle East? I mean what period or time? and was it before or after the Noah`s Flood thing? I assume your history also explains the great flood of Prophet Noah`s time.

(Are you serious? You do know that India and China were named India and China looong after the Prophets had come and gone, before that most of the land in the world was connected to the Arabian and Persian gulfs. These were all divided into various countries! Also, when Adam was sent into the world, he is said to have been sent to the land which is now called Sri-Lanka! )
It doesn`t matter when they were named India or China. Why didn`t a messanger came to the people who lived there? He would have been more productive had he been to china or India rather than Arab/Israel
As far as Land in the world is concerned that was connected many million years ago. Which is not relivant here. i.e. If u mean physically connected.
Adam in your theory was a first man on earth. what good he is in sri-lanka for the srilankans? Moreover, do you now believe your ancestors were srilankans?
