How did Hindus Become Vegetarians?
Hinduism = Fuzzy Logic While Islam = Crisp Logic !
and Fuzzy Logic = supra-set of Crisp Logic !
Crisp Logic = {0,1}
Fuzzy Logic = {0,0.01,0.03, 0.41 , ........... .96, .98 ,1}
Fuzzy Logic = Multivalued Logic
Only Fuzzy Logic can cope with increasing fuzziness in 21st century !
Crisp Logic collapses (it cannot cope with the growing vagueness in everything)

What is Hinduism? A Personal View
pakistan should go for "inner jihad" NOT "outer jihad"
infact the principle applies to all humanbeings at both individual & collective levels
even in islamic literature, inner jihad is considered superior to outer jihad.

Shahjahan’s “Moorti” and Other Absurdities in Agra
Shah jahan constructed the Taj Mahal for his beloved wife , who died due to some complication as she was delivering her 16th (!!!!!) kid !. Look at the condition of this hindostan ki mallika ! Guess what ? shah jahan was making his beloved wife pregnant every year/1.5 year ! you call this "royal mughal lifestyle?"
secondly the story goes that he got the limbs of the 20,000 craftmen who constructed the Taj, amputated so that no similar structure is constructed else where ever again
The money that was spend constructing it was equivalent of some 4 years of land reveneues of uttar pradesh+bihar+bengal taken together in thsoe days.
taken together.
keep these things in mind when u visit taj next time.

culture = collective mind
mind = individual mind
individual mind is EMBEDDED within the collective mind
mind # static , it is dynamic-living thing
mind can be found in ONLY TWO states
either it is evolving-growing or
it is devolving-shrinking !
both collective mind & individual mind are struggling to influence-shape each other
muslim culture is more overpowering than individual muslim mind. It shapes-manipulates & uses individual muslim mind for its OWN ENDS (mostly political in nature)
the collective muslim mind does not tolerate being questioned-challenged by individual muslim minds.
It takes "practical steps" to ELIMINATE such minds.
In western societies, individualism rules.
individual minds are more strong than the collective mind (too weak to shape-influence individual minds)
individual minds are free to question the wisdom of the collective mind-cultures.

philosophy = science + religion
religion deals with the "inner world" of man
science deals with the "outer world" of man
imagine 2 concentric circles , smaller circle & its content representing religion
while the space between the larger & smaller circle representing "science"
both science & religion are incomplete with out the other.
synthesis of both is what "philosophy" muut aim at.
in other words, both science & religion needs a culture of "philosophy" for their continual growth-evolution.
muslim culture(dominated by their unique notion of political islam) have a very strong anti-philosophical temper . So the concept of "religion" has remained "locked" since the medieaval times.

Islam as a political weapon in Pakistan
". No rebelion, revolution or independence movemnt can be sucessful unless they have masses supporting them who have a sense of injustice agaisnt them"
were the muslim masses driven purely by a "sense of injustice"?. I believe that the "sense" was limited only to the muslim elite (zamindars, landed feudals & aristocrats) who inherited that sense from their forefathers who lost their priviledges in 1857. like any society muslim society in united india was a stratified society. each subgroup was drive by different motives.

Satanic Verses
you call that ``literature`` ?
It is not worth even the cost of the paper on which it is printed.
total crap !
Why muslims pretend to take their religion so seriously ?
Cant they ignore it & keep moving in life ?
what is all this tamasha of chest beating , screaming for the head of salman rushdie ?
Globalization makes us understand that there are millions of other humanbeings whose beliefs are exactly the opposite of our beliefs & they still manage to do better than us in some aspects !

The Role of Mystics, Artists and Scientists in Human Evolution
Let me make an attempt to define this ``term
to start with ........
Human evolution = process of evolution
development
growth of human ....
mind
thought
all encompassing conceptual framework
worldview
philosophy of life ....etc
which enables man to live in harmony not only with nonhuman nature but also other humans as well irrespective of their differences in religion, race, culture, language, gender, nationality etc

Punjab: The Land of Five Rivers
Indus Waters Treaty has neatly divided the rivers of Punjab, with 3 rivers being alloted to Indian Punjab. Also all the 5 rivers , flow thru india as well.
In that case, change the title of the article to ``West Punjab``-the land thru which 5 indian rivers flow.

Nehru’s Legacy: Time to pay tribute
``By apparently repudiating the need for any centre, and keeping quiet about its shape, Jinnah calculated that when eventually the time came to discuss an all-India federation, British and Congress alike would be forced to negotiate with organised Muslim opinion, and would be ready to make substantial concessions to create or retain that centre. The Lahore resolution should therefore be seen as a bargaining counter, which had the merit of being acceptable (on the face of it) to the majority-province Muslims, and of being totally unacceptable to the Congress and in the last resort to the British also. This, in turn, provided the best insurance that the League would not be given what it now apparently was asking for, but which Jinnah in fact did not really want`` (The Sole Spokesman; page 57).
``The Lahore resolution of the League does not look forward to the proposed regional states assuming immediately, as they are formed, powers of defence, external affairs, communication, customs, etc. This argues that there should be a transitional stage during which these powers should be exercised by some agency common to them all...
Jinnah disowned it and even repudiated the Committee`s locus standi. (For the text of the Report vide The Pakistan Issue edited by Nawab Nazir Yar Jang Bahadur; Sh. Muhammad Ashraf, Lahore; 1943; pp 73-92). It was not unanimous. A leak to the press created a sharp controversy. But these lines in the Report showed keen perception:
``A common coordinating agency would be necessary...; for, under the third principle of the Resolution, it will be impossible to implement effectively the provisions of safeguards for minorities without some organic relationship subsisting between the States... an agreed formula has to be devised whereby the Muslims shall share the control at the Centre on terms of perfect equality with the non-Muslims`` (page 88). In plain words, Pakistan would spell the ruin of Indian Muslims unless it had an ``organic relationship`` with the rest of India.
Jinnah did not wish publicly to concede a Centre. Confident of his tactical skills he thought he would pull it off when the chips were down. He miscalculated. The Congress was not interested in sharing power. His abrasive rhetoric impaired his credentials as an interlocutor.
Nehru wrote in his jail diary on December 28, 1943:
``Instinctively I think it is better to have Pakistan or almost nothing if only to keep Jinnah far away and not allow his muddled and arrogant head from (sic) interfering continually in India`s progress`` (Selected Works of Jawaharlal Nehru; First Series; Vol.13; page 324). He accurately predicted: ``I cannot help thinking that ultimately the Muslims of India will suffer most`` (ibid; page 24).

sanatani ,
u mentioned about raja roy.
plz check the background of this chap. he was a feudal from the chittagong hill tracts(CHT)
which inspite of being 97% nonmuslim population was awarded to pakistan. He died in 1975. But before his death , he bitterly regreted his decision of backing pakistan & abandoning his own people (the chakmas).
An IAS officer(with chakma background) had an oppurtunity to interact with this chap & has mentioned him in details in his memoirs.
The same story is about Jogindranath Mandal(an SC/OBC ?) who died exiled in india !
In the Land of the Pure, they were nothing more than ``token figures`` , Jogindranath realised it much early & that Roy much later.

Master Tara Singh (the sikh leader) had admitted in an interview before his death in 1967 ,that the decision to drive out all muslims was taken only after the slaughter of 3000 sikhs in the rawalpindi district in march 1947 by muslim leaguers. Sikhs knew that Jinnah wanted the whole Punjab & he would make all kinds of offers(?) to avoid the division of Punjab.
But no sikh was willing to TRUST Jinnah. It was decided to evacuate/withdraw all the sikhs/hindus from western most punjab(rawalpindi sector). But the problem aroused as to where they should be rehabilated. They had no idea as to where exactly the border line would be drawn. They simply had to rehabilated in those areas where sikhs/hindus were in complete majority. what about the lands/property(immovable assets) which they had to leave behind ? A way had to be found to replace them .
The only practical solution was to drive out the muslims from eastern punjab by all possible means. And it was executed with all the might , that sikhs could muster. Afterall it was a life & death matter for them. Sword was met by Sword. The chain reaction that it triggered , engulfed the entire punjab.
Jinnah & ML leaders did not expect this development & all its unexpected side effects.
Manto is crying over what they as muslims lost.

Even Jinnah with all his personal material success could not mentally adjust to live under hindu rule.My hypothesis is that it is the inherent doctrinal differences between Islam and Hinduism, particularly the emphasis in Islam on spreading the faith, that prevents us from accepting the other side
Jinnah`s grandpa was a hindu baniya , who converted(or was raped & forced to convert to islam around 1830-1840. 2 decades before the final axe fell on the mughal raj in 1857)
Mohd Iqbal has a kashmiri hindu brahmin ancestors !
Note that both were converted hindus , later accepted as leaders by the muslim community , which by & large itself a community of converted hindus.
Do fundamental doctrinal differences establish themselves within 2 generations , after the conversion ? Did their interactions (social , economic if not marriage ) with their relatives (who did not convert) ended with the conversion ? Was he rejected & treated as outcaste ?
Note that the hindu traditions did not vanish overnight . You will notice in most photos of his unmarried sister sister Fatima in saree (looked at as hindu dress) till her death in 1960s

The legality of the plebiscite was recognised by your govt when it carried out a similar exercise in Junagadh ... where the document of accession - for all times to come (your language) - was in Pakistan`s favour.
Manto,
plebiscite is merely the means of ascertaining the wish of the people in a state
Was the decision to partition India , determined by plebiscite ? NO
Jinnah opposed it for obvious reasons.
If it had been decided by the general public, pakistan had absolutely no chance of emerging on the world map at all !
only 10% of the indian population were allowed to vote & only 60% of them ie 6% actuallyvoted in the crucial 1945 elections. They decided the fate of the other 94% !
was that fair ?
when the beginning step itself was not fair , how do the pakistanis expect fairness in the subsequent steps ?
Where muslims are in a numerical majority , talk about plebiscite !
and
Where muslims are in a numerical minority but with muslim rulers , talk about instrument of accession ! (jinnah was unable to enforce as they were surrounded by indian territory)
Congress`s method was the same !
Where hindus were in a numerical majority , decide by plebiscite !
and
where hindus are a numerical minority but with hindu rulers, decide by instrument of accession !
keep beating your breast & cry if Jinnah & his muslim cronies failed to enforce their will in the princely states of the then british india. Jinnah had a clear cut policy on dividing british indian territory, but no policy on princely states ! Jinnah lost here

From his posts Mantolive seems to be a old man, age ~ 60 years definitely not younger.
pakistanis look at the whole world thru islamic glasses. There is no chance of any change
atleast in the next 50 years (pak govt is crowing that it is making changes in its pakistan studies curriculum). so the hate will continue atleast for some decades more.
If they continue to see things thru the muslim-hindu prism, it is their problem.
indian policy must focus on making the pakis understand that they are dealing with the indian state representing the indian people. As matters stand, india will never abandon its self interest & there is no question of handing over kashmir . The instrument of accession sealed the fate of the territory for all time to come.
that pakistanis are ex-indians is a fact that they themselves dont deny. But they are hardly
friendly with us nor are likely to be so. our philosophies are very different. plz look at how the concept underlying muslim thinking has evolved since 1857
