The Idea of Chowk
Posted by Nadia_Zehra Jan 25, 2005 07:13 am
Re: # 127
rahulmal :

as you are having a dialup connection giving you lagging time for downloading pages having graphics mostly due to pics of interactors on chowk. So a remide is that go to you Internet Explorer menu `Tools` Go to `Internet Options...` And in it go to `Advanced` And in `Multimedia` section uncheck `Show Pictures` box.
By doing this you will not be able to download pictures no matter which site you visit.

So that would be a good idea to make chowk graphicless than change your browser settings.

I am just checking that what an interact initally scored. I hope it should be `nys`= `not yet scored` , as now the post gets instantly apparent on board.
And how chowk staff is mangaing every interact :
-By checking the content of each and every interact if working well with the conversation going on or with the topic going on.
Or there is an application running which is so much artificially intelligent that can give number by sensing the quality of the interact , but it must be then having many parameters and grammatical and phrase analysis that could shape intellect counting game in a programmatical way.

It seems an advanced Neural Networking application in an Artificial Intelligence manner.

Mr. Gill,

Your post # 41 remindes a famous shair by Ghalib:

Har ek Baat pe kehte ho tum ke `Tu kya hai` ?
TumheeN kaho ke yeh andaz-e-guftgoo kya hai ?

[Not a clever remark intended.]

Anyways,

Below posts of mine were a chronological attempt of compiling Scientific studies in Islamic Era which are refrenced to the topic you have I think might havce put forward in this discussion Forum.
And I am here to sharpen my ideas and idealogies by reading and studying thought provoking research by people like you.
Ruzbihan and the Eunuch

Azure,

Nice Read!

``Its like walking through a naked room which is thought of empty in our scruples, but has every element of substance of life in it, though in an acute manner. ``

I have read in many historical novels that the place of ``Eunuch`` had been as slaves/Low paid Labours in ``Harm Sara`` of Ashraaf. Or they are to act wierdly their original behaviors in a tactiful manner to make people spree money on them.
They depict the society annd they very precisely show the structure of our society. The way we proudly humiliate them and don`t let them enter in our pure peripheries show abjectness of moral and thinking issues.
Disgracing, making them a debasing asset give us pleasures unlimited and strengthen our own shortcomings and falls.

Your story seems to be of a child who is seeking truth under bleak fog of falsity which has created hollowness in him and he is haunted by light which after prism spreads into many color each carrying its own wavelength and strength. And he founds one of such attribute of light...

What is Islamization of Science?

Muslim Scientists in History and Islamization:
Jabir Ibn Haiyan, the alchemist Geber of the Middie Ages, is generally known as the father of chemistry. Abu Musa Jabir Ibn Hayyan, sometimes called al-Harrani and al-Sufi, was the son of the druggist (Attar). The precise date of his birth is the subject of some discussion, but it is established that he practised medicine and alchemy in Kufa around 776 A.D. He is reported to have studied under Imam Ja`far Sadiq , The holyImam Ja`far as.-Sadiqwas the sixth in the succession of the twelve Apostolic Imams. His epithet was Abu `Abdillah and his famous titles were as-Sadiq, al-Fadil and at.-Tahir. He was the son of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, the Fifth Imam.
Imam Ja`far as-Sadiq was brought up by his grand- father, Imam Zaynu `I-`Abidm in Medina for twelve years and then remained under the sacred patronage of his father Imam Muhammad al-Baqir for a period of nine- teen years.
Imamate: After the death of his holy father in 114 AH, he succeeded him as the Sixth Imam, and thus the sacred trust of Islamic mission and spiritual guidance was relayed down to his custody right from the Holy Prophet through the succession of the preceding Imams
Teacings of Imam Jaffar Sadiq (a.s)
The versatile genius of Imam Ja`far as.-Sadiq in all branches of knowledge was acclaimed throughout the Islamic world, which attracted students from far-off places towards him till the strength of his disciples had reached four thousand. The scholars and experts in Divine Law have quoted many ahadith (traditions) from Imam Ja`far as.-Sadiq. His disciples compiled hundred of books on various branches of science and arts. Other than fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), hadith (tradition), tafslr (exegesis of the Holy Qur`an), etc., the Holy Imam also imparted mathematics and chemistry to some of his disciples. Jabir ibn Hayyan at.-Tusi, a famous scholar of mathematics, was one of the Imam`s disciples who benefited from the Imam`s knowledge and guidance and was able to write four hundred books on different subjects.
It is an undeniable historical truth that all the great scholars of Islam were indebted for their learning to the very presence of the Ahlu `I-Bayt who were the fountain of knowledge and learning for all. Allamah ash-shibli writes in his book Siratu`n- Nu`man: ``Abu Hanifah remained for a considerable period in the attendance of Imam Ja`far as-Sadiq, acquiring from him a great deal of precious research on fiqh and hadith. Both the sects - Shi`ah and Sunni - believe that the source of Abu Hanifah`s knowledge was mostly derived from his association with Imam Ja`far as-Sadiq.`` The Imam devoted his whole life to the cause of religious preaching and propagation of the teachings of the Holy Prophet and never strove for power. Because of his great knowledge and fine teaching, the people gathered around him, giving devotion and respect that was his due. This excited the envy of the `Abbasid ruler al-Mansur ad-Dawaniqi who fearing the popularity of the Imam, decided to do away with him.
Al Hayan`s Work:
Al-Jabr Ibn Hayyan (d. 815) regarded as the father of chemistry, said: all matters can be traced to a simple, basic particle composed of a lightning-like charge and fire, which serves as the smallest indivisible unit of matter.

He discovered as many as 19 elements and is credited with correct measurements of specific weights. He perfected chemical processes such as distillation, crystallization and sublimation.

Ibn Hayyan was the first to distill vinegar into acetic acid. He introduced the relative solubility or insolubility of substance in solutions. He was the first to use glass tubes, tubes, and bottles on a large scale.

He mastered the use of chemical purification processes: distillation, sublimation, precipitation. Along with al-Jaber, they were regarded the founders of Chemistry as an exact science.

Mr. Gill,

The interpretation of Hadis itself could be taken a scientific statement. As Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said:

``Ana Madina tul Ilm Wa Ali un Babuha``
- Mai.n Ilm ka Shehar hoo aur Ali (a.s) us ka Darwaza.

Now Prophet was a knowledgeable person and he recommended Hazrat Ali to be followed if to get benefit from his intellect genuinely.

These things are still confused in human minds as we can`t gulp the two terms, Islam and science together.
I could recall a shair which very accurately points this aspect:

Insaan ko Bedar to ho lainey do
Har Qaum pukarey gi, Hamarey hai.n Hussain.

Mr. Gill,

A very accountable effort towards a topic which had been a source of contradictions and controvercies in all sects of Muslims. But I am really amazed to read your research.
People believe that Islam is a religion and Science is a progress and Islam is rigid code of life leaving all of its roots and propagation in ethics in very conservative manner. And development in thought process has been stagnant in its believers. However its true when we see that West without concentrating to ` Label of Religion ` has worked for the benefit of mankind. And this puts questions in our minds that why not muslims induldge in care of even the basic human rights. Sir Alexander Fleming discovered Pencillin and saved thousands of lives but till his last times was a humble person saying that any mould from a housewife`s kitchen flew to my laboratory and made by discovery.
We Muslims, stress too much on our identity and ``Haqooq ul Allah`` in general, however ``Haqool ul Ibaad`` in our religious are more rewarding in Allah`s court. What stops us from Growing, organizing , liberation and development are our own prejudices. We have made our lifestyles in such manner that hinder our developments.
Just look around in Pakistan, people are overloaded in transports with pathetic means to travel. Women are in worse situation. We are an agriculture currency and we could make a vertical growth in this field but we don`t put forward ``Land Reforms`` for benefit of farmers and to produce more products. But our Jagerdaars and Politicians need Latest Models of Honda Civic, Toyota Corrolla. There is no atmosphere for a person to feel free. The Labour in Pakistan is such degrading circumstances that its really to cry on their plights. Science is to make efforts to make livings better for a common man in development stages. Then when common man takes part in progress of a country then the horizons become broader and necessities come to become more customized and you come in a cycle of inventions and research in ares critical in those times fullfilling needs making needs selling them and making other feel them.
Religion never stops us to teach our daughters higher education and work in R&D organizations.
Science needs a platform to grow. And this platform is built by common people who enjoy fruit of their labour. The scientists are working day and night they are not in search of God but they are utilizing their brains which teases them to work in multidimensions and one day they will discover the God. Then the religion will be decided.
The “D” Word
Posted by Nadia_Zehra Jan 18, 2005 10:01 pm
I am really inspired by your ideads and your looking through our social metaphore which could cange by efforts by courageous people like you.

Marriage is a tie till you come to end of your life. And if hampers your identity and self respect than people just linger with compromises. However a proper settled decision keeping in mind all aftereffects including the belongings (kids, parents) should be duly taken. So ``D`` action doesn`t led more worse plights.
The way of taking divorce is also not properly handled. It seems as when woman/men is totaly bleak from sufferings and when the whole society knows that they can`t live together or there are so many solid reasons tan a woman can be guaranted a divorce otherwise she is thought with wrong ideas.
However separating is just as important decision as binding in marriage is.

This was really a good read.

Keep Your individuality and struggle going on.

Cheers,
Sometimes…

Some thoughts for Faiz triggered by discussion on-board
Well talking about Faiz’s poetry I must add that his famous poem sung by Madam Noor Jehan…
”Mujh Say pehli si Muhabbat meray mehboob na Mang”
is a slow convertion from Love for a woman to Love to a country. This kind of love poetry was not common before in Urdu poetry.Where Ghazals and poms were distinctly for a person , if an object and clearly if for a country in the form of a Tarana.
As Faiz said:

“Chamkay jo Salasil to Dil nay yeh Jana hai Subh teray rukh pay bikhar gayi ho gi.”
“Teray Honto kay Phoolo ki Chahat mai.n hum, Dar ki Khush Tehni peh Maray gaye”

So country is depicted in the form of a blooming lovely woman and the political condition at that time was rupturing its beauty. This theme got highly supported among literary circles where groups of liberals and democrats fancied themselves with these provocations. However well I feel is that we lacked the true essence of Patriotism which is above beloved and human sentiments and emotions. Faiz a free thinker put down it in the form:
“Aj Bazar mai.n PaBajola.n Chalo”
“Utho ab Matti say uttho, Jago meray Laal”
“Intesaab
Aaj kay nam aj kay gham kay nam..”
“Africa”

The flavor of love was so immense thatr people also liked:
``Raqueeb say``

There was openmindedness to extent of Religion and its sophisticatedness.
And when he wrote Marsia, we wept as we read Meer Anis:
``Marsia-e-Shabbir``

And there were anti gods..athiest in him :
``Wo Butto.n nay dailay hai.n waswasay keh Dilo say Khof-e-Khuda Gaya....
Wo pari hai.n Roz Qayamatai.n keh Dilo say Roz-e-Jaza Gaya``
Sometimes…

Do add this work in translation as this poetry had a charming effect on minds of thousands of people in subcontinent for decades.
A person unknown to Urdu won`t ever enjoy this piece of translation done by Mr. Naqshbandi.
Let the People Meet

(In Pakistan, the demand for Indian visas is as much as 1500 – per day - from around the country, according to Kamal Parvez, Press Attache at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.)

-Amazed to read this statistics...

Indian`s practised a very ruthless attitude to Pakistani visiting India not less than a decade ago. And people very silently and patiently absorbed the uncultured behavior in their own country. It was like going to Israel (Khuda na Khwasta). And I feel Pakistan goverment is also responsible for this alongwith. The diplomatic news were always tense then. And we often used to read that the current High Commissioner of India/Pakistan has been expelled from the respective country because of found in illegal activities against the country. And this used to create series of retaliations from both sides. And nobody never cared for negotiations.

Now We can hope for better...

But one thing will always remain in back of mind is that the people who were directly connected with that part of land had suffered in the previous years since partition of this stiff/cruel behavior both sides.
An End

Fara:
A good read and you have well bodied the emotions.
Remindes me of a nice but old poetry:

When I have fears

When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has glean`d my teeming brain
Before high-piled books, in charact`ry,
Hold like rich graners the full-ripen`d grain;
When I behold, upon the night`s starr`d face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour!
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the feary power
Of unreflecting love!--then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.

Mubakr:

Well an interaction long after from ilogs…
You write very well and have poured factual face of our society...
Apart from constituting legal work on these issues we should also rework our attitudes. I have observed that men have a typical mindset that I should have to only give honor and that owing respect to a woman who has biological relationship of sister with him.
Thus any other woman with whom he has communications and interactions or even they are in the boundary of same physical peripheries is not to be respected.
This attitude can be seen in markets, transports, college/universities. With this deep notion in oneself, the man rags of womenfolk:
“Wo meri maa, behan ya baiti nahi”/ “Mei.n sirf apni maa, behan, baiti ki izzat karta hoo.”
In order to avoid such vulgarity the fundamentalist group of Islamic country try to educate just only the women to cover themselves and avoid insulting behaviors. I think only avoiding doesn’t work, we should be strong enough not to let anyone hamper our corridors.
When we look at families then there is a general trend that boys are one to misuse the freedom, liberty. But a girl is threatened not to practice small emancipations. She is repeatedly revised her organic nature and its oddity in sphere of men world. She has to think in a way where she could adjust herself in the predefined makeup of our cultures.
She is more precise towards her appearance than boys. So she loses confidence in early stages of her life. However grooming in her definition is called as to suppress her ideas, and feeling to be come in self described modesty. However boys how much vivacious they are thought to carry this animation forever.
When we would be able to scratch the symbolisms of being a self-effacing creature and would think people around us owing due respects then we would be able to comeout of such traumatic incidents.

Your article made me think. Best regards for the New year.
Eternal Love

Faisal,

This piece has a very resiliently fresh impact and cohesive in redefining love. The semblance with primeval sentiments embosses love as a matter tangible in sense of meanings real .

However going through it I got strayed in one point: Tthough this can be considered a muscular aspect of the article making the effect carried in a very overwhelming way. But the motive or grounds it had is been unfamiliar to me.
If you could enlighten:

…Putting the pistol down, he gathered himself as a singular cohesive mechanism and standing up from the once blooming terrace lawn walked over to their bedroom.

What I have outlined is that taking account of a weapon seems to be a sort of helplessness in this scenario, like a failed attempt of suicide in these circumstances. And this state has empowered love.
