You Can’t Strip The Army
Posted by Nadia_Zehra Oct 20, 2004 06:55 am
Farzana,

Pakistani women are not at all attracted by men in Uniform. People who have struggled for Democracy in Pakistan are being Educated, Socialist Men n Women. There had been scenes when Bhutto was hanged then raged women attempted to attack on Men in Army Uniform and snatched their badges in protesting rallies.

Military profession in Pakistan is considered a very reliable profession in previous decades There were times when Whole villages men were in Army. So traditionaly women used to remember them in songs...I am talking about World War 2.
Still then the trend is that most army men are from small towns like Talla Gang, Chakwal, Attock, Mansehra etc. So Army has emerged a kind of Baradri. they have their small nuclei bases as Cantonments where they enjoy liberties among themselves. Educational Campuses, Departmental Stories are in their high reach. So their community is on real life basis a strong status in Pakistan. As compared to a civilian who has to work extra to get a car/ educate his/her child and maintain social categories.
Therefore Army people among themselves are economically strong enough as they enjoy handful budjet of Pakistan.
Civillians have to work in their casual costumes real hard... And to avoid comparison Army Cantonments are always a way off city, secured and protected.
There was a trend in Pakistan in which people were so much overruled by army that by seeing any army officer they would say: ``Pak Fauj ko Salam``
Why women love men in uniform?
Reasons are sense of security of job , money and family .
So its money society...

In Zia Regime they gained popularity by name of Islam, Zia did the referendum by saying if you are with Shariah vote me....A Yezeed Slogan Infact if we peep into History.
Therefore people were inclined towards fundamentals for their religious survival which is the only basic aim.
Army men are religiously fanatics therefore they are highly praised and people have an idea that if Army comes to play they will be a religious rule. So thats another reason of their popularity.
Well If somebody has read Hamud-ur-Rehman Commission Report then there would be shocking waves that at what level the Army was playing with women. God Bless Bhutto who didn`t publish it then.
Now Musharraf is another case. There is a big game of survival now. Its War against terrorism and this has no space for democracy...So people are relying on Musharraf`s hold with America.

One Day At a Time

Should Muslims not strive to be good human beings in other months?

This questions bothers in mind of many people. But Fasting is a ritual which cannot be extended in other months as it has been forbidden in Islam that undue fasts must be avoided. But the cause of Ramzan is to develop internal sympathy for the hungry and needy people. If we start thinking in the way that those formal procedures which are essence of ramzan should be applied and carried out in every rest month then we would be killing the theme of Ramzan.
In fast it is confirmed valid if its done fullfilling religious basics and fundamentals. The lesson given in Ramzan should be enhanced in other months like not lying, pray five times a day. Help needy, poor and feel hunger so do productive work which could help in decreasing poverty.
But what we see actual practise is that with start of Ramzan, the prices of edibles (Basic) shoot and uneasiness among poor start rising. Ramzan sometimes is considered a burden then. Secondly you can see shopkeepers selling with good costumes , practising to sell clean goodies but as Ramzan ends they come back to original states.
So the whole matter is that the good things we practise in Ramzan should also be adopted in other months.
This also carries out a valid point towards ``Aiteqaf``. I myself used to see people sitting in total solitude cut off from world so that with least possible contact to world results in max possible probability of Gunah.
But in comparison a man surrounded by thousands of thing in this world but dutifying the things factually and not sinning s/he should be considered more rewarding. So the conclusion is that ceremonies like Ramzan n Shab-e-Qadr provide man/ woman a margin to pray heartedly to God. And this is a silent contact with man n gd, not letting any matter come in between. But thinking that good things should be acted in few times of month is a wrong idea.

So I agree n say:
Have a good Ramzan! No, have a good day! One day at a time for the whole year!
n Ghalib:
Baskih dushwar hai her kaam ka asan hona
Admi ko bhi moyassar nahin insan hona

Munshi PraimChand is considered embroyonic writer of Urdu Novels. I admit I have read little of him, few by courtesy of Tarai Masand Mussafin who published his stuff in Jaraid like ``Guftago``.
This one is nice. Plus do also upload if their is any urdu version of the Novel. It feels good to keep account of old literary stuff.

Urstruly:

Your anxieties towards Zardari and his family hood are not stunning. As most of people have made this pre-focus when chattering affairs of state. Let the time decide who is at right.
”Jail Khanay ki Qaid WA Saoobat mai.n koi Criminal apni saza say guzar raha hai”
If you look behind you will see how much growling n snarling had been done with Monica Lewinski and Bill Clinton issue. Clinton was trapped by Jews in the name of Free Media emancipation. And the whole trial which now seems as juvenile was hot topic of continents then. Hilary Clinton despite of such Media pressure helped her husband in going through those hard political times. However it was understandable that Hilary and Clinton mutual conflicts were bubbling in their personal matters.
But didn’t he give democracy to his country. Wasn’t he the peaceful leader at least I saw in short history of observation of US Presidents.
Army has never concurred the opinion of people of Pakistan. No doubt it is an institution of great respect, dignity and security. But it’s appropriate in its bases. Whatever they guiding principles may be. One day they will have to leave. What space of governing they will leave for populace.
Jis Jageh mera Khait tha waha rait dalta ja raha hai Pani
Mujhay kia farq parey ga agar yeh Darya Utter bhi jaye

Their rules will die with them. And that’s why whenever people’s government comes into play people carry bleak opinions about its future and prosperity. The democracy doesn’t establishes in two three years of time frame. This is also empathy that no leader has completed the whole time span of its governance.
Beynazir is accused of disgracing nation by exposing information outside country. Then I say Western media knows more than what our public knows. What we are trying to hide? Military viciousness, suffocation, denouncing of public opinions, corrupt elections, self proclamation by unjust referendum….

By urstruly:

``zardari was the biggest mistake of her life ``

Such low pathetic comment on relational terms. There might be thousands of couples living mistaken lives. Some people think that just critizing relationships and housejobs can be a topic of political discussion. Such arguments leave no room to grow in politics.

If Zardari would have any such things in his mind he would have flown to Jeddah or somewhere else like Nawaz Sharrif in first instance.

After closing every door to Democracy people are saying no hope only loss, No cause... Military is the only hope to cling for survival. Such shallow perspectives...

I see those people who have never put a single vote in the country talk abou its future and
democracy. What a pity...

Well, The article is not that strongly written or the circumstances are nowadaysa taken such turns that voices are looking feeble. However the interacts are more interesting to read.
As a Female who herself is a in a profession is urging Ms. Bhutto :

#15 by cipram on October 10, 2004 7:22pm PT
banazir,you missed the bus.
so be silent ,and take care of your children.

.
.

I can only say Democracy is a slow process as it takes the children to grow up.

And another female made such a personal comment:

#9 by xeneb on October 10, 2004 2:36pm PT
...numbers and ratios dont make you a political leader. popularity means nothing, a point which has been proved time and time again through beauty pageants, the new fad of reality television and even political misgivings, such as the mockery of the demcratic system that the US is accused off.
benazir bhutto, NOR the pp is the voice of majority of the people of the country. oru masses do not have voice. they have temporary political bandwagons that they jump on and off, because of personal loyalties, money or circumstances.
...

Well I think its numbers and ratios which make up the democracy otherwise it is dictatorship which have we suffering since long. So you are also outlandishing the rights of poulation. Democracy cannot be achieved in a few years with few faces. Let the people make decisions and then have the consequences. You cannot deny the truth that PPP upn defeat in 93` as well had the biggest number of total votes of Pakistan. And this Party has a history of burning struggle against army. And very brutually its memebrs have suffered institutional resistance of Army. By blaming BB you cannot sideline the efforts of this party and its struggle towards Democracy. And if time is hard nowadays then we cannot quote that ``Army can give birth to stable democracy.`` What we lack is the People in participation of Rules, Policies and their opinions are trashed by enforcment of Army. Well what economy is getting? I am seeing they are taking debts after debts.

nice!
[Random Thoughts]
But I am thinking translation of some words are not possible. Because there doesn`t such thing exists in the other culture.
Take the example of Scarf in the first misra seems not going as appears in urdu--Anchal.

The glimmer of the red scarf corner in the soft green light.

-sabz maddham roshanii me.n surKh aa.Nchal kii dhanak

Anchal gives a very liberal meaning of a decorer, stylish and relaxing piece of garment.
Unlike Scarf that portrays a meaning of Hijab, Cover, Comfort and very religious. :]

So the customs attached to that object in one culture are also alien in other culture. Carrying out the same translation:

Creases on the dress, the scarf`s corner also tilted

This doesnot show the meanings as exposed:

-silvaTe.n malabuus par aa.Nchal bhii kuchh Dhalakaa huaa

kal
kaunsi kal?
jO guzar gaee
ya jO aa’aye gi?

...Hmmmm Ironic and Threatning . At the same time blessing for tomorrow.

firearms
guns kill
no, people kill
pity, no one asks the dead

People ask the dead, but technology has so empowered men and its freedom to use and sabotage. People do go into shocks.
The reason behind this behavior that you have mentioned is that destruction ratio is much bigger than its stoppage. Level of justice has falled. So immunity level of people to accidents and incidents is developing higher then towards peace and tranquility. Security zones are not solution to the problem. Balka men disarmnemt and their belief to be at peace should be a main objective.

Temporal:

Poignant Poetry.
I could only sum-up my Hallucinating Hysteria which I result by bounded media :

I am Taken away to streets and roads .
Faces Rushing through
As Blood through veins.
Each one ruptured.
Noise, Blast to a chaos...
Sudden Shock,
All Die Down..
The calmity is fearing.
Heart is what I only earing.
I don`t hear guns any more.
But fresh Blood soiling marks.

Your poem BEGGAR`S FACE - I and II create the same sensation as reading a Noon Meem Rashid`s piece.
