Musharraf the Out-smarter
For some reason the following quote comes to mind:
"Never argue with a fool. He will drag you down to his own level and beat you with experience".

Sir, I do not believe in quantifying complicated socio-political issues in simplistic percentage terms.
And while I have serious issues with American foreign policy, I do not believe in vague conspiracy theories.
And I think personal insults have no place in a civilised discourse.

Musharraf the Out-smarter
A few days before 12 May, the MQM took out a huge procession against the mad fanatics of the Lal Mosque. That struck a chord with those (non Urdu-speaking)Pakistanis who fear the Talibanisation-Saudiisation of Pakistan.
Then the MQM did 12 May.
So now we have a choice between mad fanatics who kill in the name of Allah, and street criminals who kill for the petty politics of gangster Altaf Bhai and the ISI.
Not a very appetising choice.

There is nothing ethnic about the opposition to Musharraf.
For the first time in the history of Pakistan there is an intense anti-Army feeling in the Punjab, traditionally the Army's support base. And this is the best thing that has happened to Pakistan for a long time.
The only ethnic dimension to the situation is the violent support the MQM has given to Musharraf. By doing so, it has alienated itself from mainstream Pakistani thinking, squandered any chance of becoming a political party with a national appeal, and proved (on live tv) that at its core it is a group of criminals willing to kill innocent people at the behest of the ISI. This is the second best thing to come out of Musharraf's dirty politics.

Don't know about the Indians, but if we had "raised Dacca" and punished those responsible, we would not have had to suffer the likes of Colonel Jafri today.

We bloody civilians will share your enthusiasm for Musharraf's "smartness" if you promise to give up your habit of surrendering, like you surrendered to the Indians in 1971 and to the Taliban a month ago.
But we want a real promise, not a "Fauji promise", like the one Musharraf made to 160 million Pakistanis in 2004.

Colonel Jafri, how about "out-smarting" real enemies on the battlefield, for a change? We bloody civilians will share your enthusiasm for Musharraf's "smartness" if you promise to give up your habit of surrendering, like you surrendered to the Indians in 1971 and to the Taliban a month ago.

It gives the reader an insight into the Pakistani Army mindset that the Colonel considers dishonesty, blatant lying, destroying state institutions, breaking one's oath, violating the Constitution and defying the Supreme Court traits worth admiring.Pakistan has been ruled by people of this dishonourable and petty thinking for the last sixty years. ZahraJ, Mullah monsters were created by Pakistan Army and the ISI for their own selfish institutional interests in the first place. Let them sort out the mess they have created over the last 30 years in the name of this jihad or that jihad.

Can anyone post a link to Faraz` famous poem ``Pak afwaj kay naam``? I heard it once; it is a masterpiece.

Now that the people of Pakistan (including the people of Punjab) have shown that they are fed up of being treated like dumb cattle by the generals of Pakistan Army, the judges have a very clear choice: the people or the generals.

Agreed.
There is a lot of fake racist pride in Iran which has been exacerbated by the unpopularity of the current regime. Some Iranians go to the extent of saying that the current regime is an ``Arab`` regime, which is plain wrong. Everything bad that has happened to Iran is blamed on the ``Arabs``, which is nonsense.
Islam and the Arabs have become very convenient scapegoats for young Iranians.
The most naive of all Iranians are second generation American-Iranians most of whom have never visited Iran.

Iran will be the first non-Arab country to get rid of Arab cultural imperialism. The signs are obvious.
