The Freedom of Empathy
Posted by cayenne Aug 5, 2005 12:58 am
Umair....Answer me honestly and this question is posed to you with relative to pakistan alone?.

Are you really free in Pakistan?.Can you openly challenge the constitutionality of the prevailing system of govt. in a court of law?.Can you openly drink alcohol in a designated area such as a bar, as a lifestyle choice?.Can you criticize your President in public?.Can you worship the `God` of your choice without let or hindrance?.Do you have choice, and do you exercise that choice in determining whom would conduct the day-to-day affairs of your country?.Are you REALLY free to take the freedom you cherish when you want and to BE free, as you want to be?.

Please don`t bring up any other country(India included) in your response, should you be kind to do so.

Sincerely,

Cayenne

India`s GDP (actual) is about $750 billion and Pakistan`s is about $91 billion, acc. to IMF.I`m not comparing the two. This is after all an Indo-Pak forum, for the most part!!.

#5 Excellent response!!!.Competition has done wonders for the indian auto industry. What it has done mainly is to unleash the potential on indian auto makers, putting them on the global map of auto producing countries. The TATA Indica is an example.Sold in 20 countries , the current model pictures is actually on it`s way out( been in prod. 5 yrs), with a new model launch expected next year!!.Base price Rs.350,000.00, and that`s what the 800 costs in Pak!!.TATA motors alone sold 179,000 passenger cars fiscal 2004-2005!!.

This is just one indian homegrown manufacturer.Competition is all good!!.When will pak`s learn??...........

TCS should be reprimanded for doing business with Pak.NOW THEY want sugar!!.Pak has lifted the 4 year ban on indian sugar `cause they ain`t got none and guess where they can get some??.India.BOUNTIFUL INDIA.Guess what??.We ain`t gonna give.Unless you give us land lines to Afghanistan.Till then you can continue to pay high prices. When it`s convenient they come groveling. What next will they want?.OUR LAND , at this rate.Fresh, is what the Paks are!!.

Forget about the loser games of the paks and their insidious, selective insinuations. We indians can hold our heads high anywhere. We are making a mark in all spheres, including automobiles, something not associated with the subcontinent.Indian automobiles are beginning to ply the streets of Asia, South America and Europe.North America is not too far behind. The following vehicle is designed with a global audience in mind.Coming soon to a TATA dealership near you........

Paks can continue to deal with jehadis and pay ten times what we indians pay for groceries, beg and borrow from their western masters, kill their minorities and make a laughing stock of themselves in the world arena.Keep up the good work pak!!.

Changing Muslim Hearts
Posted by cayenne Aug 1, 2005 11:23 am
I`ve been bleating about this but have been either ignored or derided for saying so.But, when are other muslims gonna learn from indian muslims??.Indian muslims, the second largest diaspora in the islamic world, have made a mark in all spheres of human endeavor, in their homeland and abroad and as indian citizens, welcome in all the nations of the world , without let or hindrance.

From our President, various federal ministers,Governors, CM`s, officials, artists, musicians and technocrats, IMs have become brand ambassadors of India all over the world.Living amongst our diverse population , which they are a part of, they have learnt tolerance of others, while imbibing their doctrinare faith. They, i believe, have struck the right balance between faith and practice.Only Colin Powell made a public comment about indian muslims in a positive way, while attending a hearing in Congress on islamic extremism. He said India has almost 200 million muslim citizens, yet they don`t get involved in wanton acts of hatred.

India has the second largest Shia population after Iran.Yet you don`t see sectarian violence, like in Pakistan and other islamic nations.I do not for one moment, purport to be a spokesman for indian muslims.I only state what i feel in support of my indian muslim brothers and sisters. In India, due to open nature of our society, we have space for all.We listen to the stern warnings of our priests, mullahs, pastors and gurus , keep them happy and then go on our merry way and do our own thing. The state offers us the protections and civil liberties that the religious zealots cannot impose on us.Only the Supreme Court Justices of India have the final word on our well being. All this is worth consideration by pakistan, if it wants to change it`s image , undo the damage and become a progressive member of the international community.

How about the anguished families of 9/11, mine included, the anguished families of the US naval ship disaster before 9/11, the anguished families of innocent Israelis killed in the intefada, the anguished families of the palestinians killed in the same intefada, the anguished families of innocent indian kashmiris killed by pak trained terrorists, the anguished families of the innocent victims of the london tube blasts. We could go and on , can`t we??.Selective anguish exhibited above. How trite!!!.

BeeJay

I`m sure she`s a wonderful person and has/is done/doing work for the upliftment of women in Pakistan. My comments were based solely on her words in this article and her attitude vis-a-vis India. It stinks and therefore she does too.Nuttin` personal.

This is what progress to me is.Not talk.It is about choice.Whither lifestyle choices or durables. The US is great `cause it affords choice.India is well on it`s way.I love cars. Many may not. These are two indian cars my wife and i drive. It reflects our personalities. Both were designed for the indian consumer in mind.Same for all other durable goods.India is progressing `cause it now offers it`s people choices. And, the people want to participate and partake of the choices being offered in their own backyard. And that is why India is growing in stature. It is the economy `stupid`.I wonder when Pak will learn!!!.
