This is already happening, although it is not simple as just `adopting a dalit name`. You need a million different documents along with certificates from an executive magistrate or village sarpanch etc. It is only people like gujja, who has both money and connections can pull something like this off.

In the process, the genuine poor dalits are getting screwed as usual.

I don`t think there is anything wrong in principle with reservation quotas. However, the government has to make sure that the benifits of this are available to the poeple for whom it is intended.
