You are witnessing a first-rate Punjabi, male muslim, chauvinist used to giving unsolicited `sanctimonious Koranic sermons` undergo an insecurity-induced stress attack. His conditioned reflex (when apprised of unpleasant facts) is to paint you as `enemies` full of `hate`. This empty head is one of the biggest reasons why his country is in such a mess.
The dodo bird went extinct because of an inability to adapt. This Chowk dodo bird appears to be the last of its kind too.
(for those who care to know the facts, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil (a Pakistan citizen was one of the five original signatories of Osama Bin Laden`s infamous fatwa sanctioning the killing of American civilians. A former PM of Pakistan, with Musharraf`s blessing accompanied Khalil to negotiate on behalf of the Pakistan government at the Lal Masjid talks. Anyone else find this situation to be a bit curious? or full of hate? And yes, no surprise, Khalil is also on India`s most wanted list for other jehadi actions that his henchmen carried out in India)

Not if the earth penetrator weapons that the US has developed are used. Then the odds of successful pre-emption are nearly 100%. Hardened bunkers are not easy to hide.

Your analysis is wrong. West Bengal`s share of India`s GDP is 6.7%. It`s population is 7.16% of India`s. Therefore, its per capita GDP (nominal or PPP) are in line with India`s overall per capita GDP (since 6.7% is so close to 7.15%) and not half of India`s.
Therefore, Bangladesh`s per capita GDP is much lower than West Bengal`s.

``...(Bangladesh) it`s gdp per capita is above west bengal...``
Really? Bangladesh`s per capita GDP is $1700/yr. For India, it is
$3800/yr. W. Bengal is one of India`s most industrialized states and its GDP has to be less than half of rest of India to be less than Bangladesh`s. That is simply not possible.

US Administration Report Cites Al Qaeda Havens in Pakistan
Six years after the Bush administration declared war on al-Qaeda, the terrorist network is gaining strength and has established a safe haven in remote tribal areas of western Pakistan for training and planning attacks, according to a new Bush administration intelligence report to be discussed today at a White House meeting.

``They opted out but did not want to rejoin India. ``
Your original contention was that `Partition was beneficial for some`. Rejoining India is not the only criterion to measure that by.
Plus, now you seem to be qualifying your response by `other Bangladeshis` (those who prefer to stay in Bangladesh). That seriously weakens your argument. How many `others` are sufficient to make the case? Is a 3rd partition now necessary? You are on a slippery slope.

``Muslims of Pakistan (including Bangladesh) have benefitted tremendously from the creation of Pakistan.``
If that was the case, why did the Bangladeshis want out in `71? Why are they thronging by the millions illegally into India? Why is the reverse not happening? Why is India building a fence at great expense to keep them out?
Mull over this a bit.

Invalid argument - there is an elected Parliament and due process under the law in India. Mere existence of armed insurgencies is not oppression.

I find this whole discussion about oppression in Pakistan quite amusing, and reveals the extent to which people are willing to delude themselves by ignoring the facts.
PM, do you believe that the Bengalis were oppressed in Pakistan for the 24 years that they were part of the original state? Do you believe that Balochis are oppressed in Pakistan today? What about the residents of the Northern Areas who have no representation at all in the useless National Assembly? The region`s lack of representation in the Pakistani parliament has placed it outside the mainstream politics of the country, and is a major cause of frustration among the local population. Unlike Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Northern Areas is governed directly by Pakistan as a de facto colony.
Do you believe that the blasphemy law has been selectively applied to oppress minorities? Do you believe that otherwise normal people self-immolate as the bishop John Joseph did? Let me refresh your memory: Bishop Joseph, a prominent human rights activists, shot himself dead inside the premises of Sahiwal sessions court in 1998 after a 25-year-old Christian youth, Ayub Masih, was sentenced to death under blasphemy law.

Faruk:
There was nothing in your post #241 that would have led anyone to conclude that, `it was OK for hindus to burn muslims families in their homes in Gujerat because muslims burnt hindus in a train in Godhra ...blah...blah...`
Only an idiot like Tahmed would have jumped to the conclusion that he did from your post #241. Your response (#250) was intelligent because you did not fall into the trap that Tahmed had laid for you, namely make a stupid allegation, and then drag you into a `debate` that was irrelevant to the matter at hand. Tahmed`s response does reveal his insecurity though -- and his insidious nature.

``To me there needs to a madrassa and a mosque which preaches and practices the good in Islam...``
If you read those books, you will conclude that violent muslims are acting quite `rationally` and in accordance with what they are taught. Follow the hyperlinks on the images and read the reviews. Also, check out this article by Tom Friedman:
Islam`s self-identity is that it is the most perfect and complete expression of God`s monotheistic message, and the Koran is God`s last and most perfect word. To put it another way, young Muslims are raised on the view that Islam is God 3.0. Christianity is God 2.0. Judaism is God 1.0. And Hinduism and all others are God 0.0.
