Re: # 1248 Sattar2

``...In Quran Allah says that He will forgive apostates who repent...``

Sattar, perhaps, you can shed some light on the verse in the Koran that says that repenting apostates can be forgiven? Does `repenting` mean that the apostate has to `reconvert` back to Islam?

Re: # 1051 Balle Balle Ballu

``...advocating PAkistan to turn it constitution into a secular republic because with Islam at the foundation of the nation`s legal constitution only mullahs have the FIRST right over Pakistan`s leadership!!...``

Could not agree with you more here. We have the perfect secular Islamic state example of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the shortlived Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The constitution is/was officially the Koran in both cases. They have no need for any other text nor for any constitutional amendments. I think that Pakistan should follow that example in toto. Can`t wait for that day to arrive.

``...Sure, the constitution of Pakistan takes as its basis the Qu`ran and Sunnah. But it doesn`t give any Tom, Dick or Harry the right to take action based on his personal interpretation...``

Pray, whose interpretation does it depend upon?

Re: # 1021 Pardesi

``...I mentioned that Musharaff will need to be Ataturk. He changed the constitution to achieve what was needed at the time – modern forward looking Turkey. Can Musharaff do that for Pakistan?...``

Pardesi, check out Ataturk`s biography. He was instrumental in the defeat of the British at the Battle of Gallipoli, 1915. This was a huge achievement that earned him all round respect in Turkey that allowed him through his new found stature to ramrod revolutionary reforms in Turkey. Musharraf, the loser of Kargil, and the victor in the Battle of Islamabad and Supreme Court Steps, has no such stature in Pakistan. He is domestically isolated. He is such a wimp that he can`t even get the children`s library in Islamabad vacated. You put too much faith in his abilities. To expect such a poodle to effect positive change, is being naive.

Check out this intellectual giant`s pronouncements on rape!

Re: # 995 Pardesi

``...Army can save the country from Jihadis but it has to hand over the power to democratically elected leaders and work like guardians of the constitution and country like Turkish army. In order to do that, my Turkish friends tell me, their army is very strict in keeping religious fanatics out of armed forces...``

Paredesi, my dear. Don`t be so naive. Perhaps, you are not familiar with the Objectives Resolution and Constitution of Pakistan. Read my post # 692 and 700. Collectively, they are summarized here:

PAKISTAN CONSTITUTION PREAMBLE
``Whereas sovereignty over the entire Universe belongs to Almighty Allah alone, and the authority to be exercised by the people of Pakistan within the limits prescribed by Him is a sacred trust;``

``Wherein the Muslims shall be enabled to order their lives in the individual and collective spheres in accordance with the teachings and requirements of Islam as set out in the Holy Quran and Sunnah``
;

Going further back in time to the Objectives Resolution of 1949 passed by the Pak Constitutent Assembly, you will see that it proclaimed, `Muslims shall be enabled to order their lives in the individual and collective spheres in accordance with the teachings of Islam as set out in the Holy Quran and Sunnah.`

Allah hu Akbar. Takbeer!

Pardesi, you see, the Constitution of Pakistan is in service of Islam and not the other way round. If Pak army takes your advice to follow the Constitution, they will be bound to uphold the banner of Islam. Also, unlike Turkey, Pakistan has enshrined the Koran and the Sunnah in the Constitution. So, the Pakistan army will never keep `religious fanatics out of armed forces`. Also, do you know what the official motto of the Pakistan Army is? Hold your breath:

``Iman, Taqwa, Jihad fi Sabilillah``. Translated into English, it means ``Faith, Piety, Jihad in the path of Allah (Arabic for God)``

So, how can this Army `save the country from Jihadis` when its own official motto says that that is what it must do?

Right, Zeemax?

I empathise with you especially when you are feeling like you have been badly had.

``if the pakistani army, as i have heard from ex army officers, used israeli ammunition during the 65 and 71 wars?``

Yes, I know. They did. Any more questions?

Re: # 920 Zeemax

``This may come as a shock to you, and many others, but Jinnah was a Pan-Islamist through and through. The purpose of Pakistan was not just a homeland for the Muslims of the British sub-continent, but more importantly to provide a solid base for resurgence of Islam in the aftermath of the fall of the British empire. This process bogged down after his early demise due to political wrangles but has now restarted``

Could not have put it better myself! Bravo. Lead on, we will watch! Actually, what you wrote does not come as a surprise. Nehru and Patel saw through it too.

`Brother`, that will be a new world record for any dynasty/state`s longevity. Are you sure? Or is that just hot air?

Allah be praised for he is just and merciful! Zeemax, this is where your hordes of people `willing to die` will come in very useful. Promise us, this future is not too far away, is it?

Re: # 857 Zeemax

``...That difference is between one group willing to die for their beliefs,...``

`Brother`, very powerful words indeed. `Willing to die for their beliefs`. Ooh my! Runs shivers up and down my spine. However, `brother`, there once used to be an American General by the name of Patton. He successfully relieved a couple of American divisions surrounded, without winter clothing, by fully equipped crack German troops in a battle called `Bulge` in World War II.

Patton (after whose name `Field Marshall` Ayub Khan`s crack troops used armored tanks in `65) also reported said, `No bustard* ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bustard* die for his country.`

`Brother`, the point that I am making (hopefully delicately) is that `willing to die alone` may not be sufficient. `Brother`, we may have a small problem here.

* `Brother`, apologies. I had to deliberately misspell a term of endearment used to describe your jehadi hordes because Chowk`s tender mercies does not allow the original spelling to be used

``...Chaos will follow and the whole region will disintegrate. ...``

`Brother`, don`t worry. What do you care what happens to Hindooland? Those slimeys managed to survive `1000 years of slavery` unscathed, perhaps, they might be lucky again. Carry on the good fight, we are watching!
