The Disturbed

Very good!

Just one disconnect. Not enough reason for doctor suddenly asking for sister’s email id and telephone no.

And last line is redundant.

Dehendriya manobuddhi ahankara chittani naham
Chidanad rupeya shivoham shivoham

-- Adi Shankar

Deha( body) indriyas ( senses), manh( stream of thoughts that doubt, consider and discard various options) buddhi( stream of thoughts which are decisive), chitta ( stream of thoughts involved in reasoning, analyzing, inquiring and speculating, ahankara (I – the consciousness present in every being) naham (I am not)

I am distinct from the body in which I dwell, from senses through which I perceive, from manah, buddhi and chitta constiting my Mind with which I think and decide, from ahankara which gives me consciousness of myself; I am separate and formless being who is only associated with these entities or I am the soul, or the jiva.

Then who I am? Chit( knowledge) anand ( bliss) shivoham(a brief statement of Shankara’s advait or monoism) I am shiva who is the form of bliss associated with knowledge.

(Commentary by V V Subrahmanyam of Rajahmundry ,Andhra Pradesh)

What is the basis of twins paradox in the context of theory of relativity?
It said that if one of the twins moves away from earth at speed approaching the speed of light while other remains at earth then the twin at earth will grow slowly rather than the one moving away, why?

Re: # 98

I was refering to GT`s infinite number of cats in boxes. What I meant was how this 2/3 alive and 1/3 dead probability came about.

Only prosperity brings liberalism and tolerance (generally, there are exceptions though). The reason being, in abundance people tend to be magnanimous besides rule of law is conducive to maintaining that prosperity.

Re: # 96
Thanks GT.

Your explanation leaves me more confused. Why 2/3 and 1/3 probability? Why not half dead and half alive?

Re: # 94

``In other systems, why criticism of individual viewpoints should ``cause pain`` is hard to understand``

It is not hard to understand. First of all Mind is abstract distinct from brain, something like a software and pain is kind of a boolean state just as pleasure, with degrees intensity. If we can understand this then pain and pleasure will mean nothing except that it is easier said then achieved.

Re: # 7

If death is an interface to some kind of after life then that after life must by qualitatively different from this life else purpose of death as an interface is meaningless.

And if parameters of existence after death are different then concept of hell and heaven are bogus because they are merely extension of existing life.

Art is about aesthetic and anything that provides sense of aesthetic exhilaration is art. Interesting phrase ‘sorrow of death’ contrasting with athletic action images.
Absent in the Spring
Posted by kalihawa Feb 6, 2007 08:54 am

In the beginning a sense of déjà vu (Village of Women); some laborious reading so far up to

“A sense of thrill had filled him all through. He opened his eyes and smiled. There was spring in the air. It was…………”. An old joke manifests:

An American and a Briton walking together, laconic Briton comments, ”Spring in the air!”
Incredulous American retorts ”Why should I?”

I give up and look at the interacts. Back to reading the balance part. Now there is fluidity in narrative with pieces falling into place.

Absolutely stunning ending.
Well done!

Re: # 24

You have changed the term. Not being honest does not mean lying. In all such exchange essential thing is intention.

Beats me!

Your pathological dislike for Sufism is incomprehensible. Honesty is not 0 –1 state there are hues to it.
