Saving the Female Fetus
`` life starts when the first such cell is created - i.e., at conception. ``
I don`t think so.
Female foeticide is NOT same as legal abortion. First of all baby is willingly conceived and is not a result of carelessness and post abortion the couple will again go for pregnancy until they get a male child. This is why it is so grotesque.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong in having abortion of babies likely to be born with malformed limbs etc. Else it will be torture to the child and the parents for life long. Even without possible defects, abortion is OK if the pregnancy is result of carelessness and the baby is unwanted.
And about legal abortion...We have the technology, nobody is getting hurt and an unwanted life aborted!
Where is the problem?
By the way what is ‘life’! A concept understood by ‘Mind’ (Mind is not Brain) and when mind is not evolved where is life?

Salim, you are wasting your time. Sometimes obvious is the most difficult thing to prove. In Delhi a socialite, Jessica Lall was murdered in front of 400 guests, yet all the accused were set free by court. If anyone sees nothing wrong in Modi, you just cannot do anything about it.

``....and sanctioning India and Pakistan for their tit-for-tat thrillers in 1998, why doesn`t the West discuss Israel`s own arsenal of nukes?``
You are being naive Salim. The world isn`t fair, deep down its still might is right. In the case of Iraq, except for 50% Americans and Tony Blair, most of the world knew the WMD claim was bogus, yet the Americans were able to cobble up a coalition of half a dozen nations. Iran is a threat, with nukes unacceptably so. Israel isn’t an ally. Consider North Korea, why is so much flexibility there? Because Japan and South Korea are expendable albeit reluctantly.

There is one problem with this reservation policy. It creates a class of elite within the ‘dalits’. All the reservation jobs are recycled within this group.
My suggestion; carry on with the reservation policy but disqualify the families which have once availed the benefit of reservation.

Is Iran Headed for War?
Iran is asking for it. This war isn`t going to be like Iraq war for occupation. Just the destruction of its economy and nuclear infrastructure.
By the way, does any one have any doubt about Iran’s nuclear intentions?

US–India Deal and Kashmir
The assumption that America can exert substantial pressure on either India or Pakistan is misplaced.
India is unhappy that America is not exerting enough pressure on Pakistan to dismantle terrorist camps in its territories while Pakistan is unhappy that America is not exerting enough pressure on India to sit down on negotiating table with Pakistan over question of Kashmir.

This stupidity of intellectuals digging into religious text and showing to all and sundry that religion does not sanction these barbaric practices is beyond my comprehension. Simple argument is that as sensible people this is bad in law, any law, regardless of God`s word. It must be understood that Quran means precious little to non-Muslims, just as Gita or Vedas are garbage to non-Hindus.
I tried to read Gita several times but couldn`t go beyond a few pages. Right in the beginning there are references to ``Varnshankar`` (crossbreed) in very derogatory terms. And Hindu`s claim it is word of God. Modern science tells us that crossbreed is good. Period!
