Losing My Religion
I have a, ``Hindu Rajput`` last name. Have had it my whole life. Still have it. Never had any problem explaining to anyone in Pakistan, where it came from. Not a single person in Pakistan has ever asked me. In fact, so many Pakistanis, themselves, had a similar name........
I can understand you desire to indulge in such an exchange of ideas. It seems to be the common trait amongst many on this site. But, please, can I make one request: At least try to be original!! I can tolerate nonsense, even it is directed at me, personally. But nonsense, without originality that is so off the mark, it just ruins a perfectly nice day............ ``]
Mr. Romair, Sir, I did not intend to ruin your perfectly nice day. Man, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed again? I am sorry for offending you with my personal experiences about Paki discomfort with my Hindu Rajput last name of ``Chauhan.`
Right here on Chowk itself, I have had at least two Pakis call me ``Hindu.`` I have also had numerous slurs directed at me by Pakis corrupting the name to Chuhan - an obvious association with rodents.
I am glad that you have encountered no prejudice for your Rajput name. Maybe you have Islamized it or there are many more Pak Rajputs with that name, e.g. Bhatti.
Regardless, it is not such an important matter for you to get your jihadi blood boiling. Just one friendly piece of advice, my friend Romair - PLEASE DON`T BLOW YOURSELF UP JUST FOR THIS TRIVIAL ISSUE.
Thanks,
Salim

Pakistan-Afghan Relations in Murky Waters
babu,
Stop being selfish! Please, just reunify these four provinces back into a united India. This single act will solve so many problems:
1. Kashmir impasse
2. Cross-border terrorism
3. Sectarian violence in Pakistan
4. Runaway defense expenditures
5. Communal strife
6. Threat of nuclear war
and the list goes on.

Pakistan-Afghan Relations in Murky Waters
Thank you for your timely and well-written essay about this third most fateful mistake in Pakistan`s history. The first was Partition and the second was alienating East Pakistan. By meddling in Afghanistan right from the late 70s, here is what Pakis have accomplished:
1. Alienated the Tajik, Hazara, and Uzbek people against Pakistan for generations.
2. Played an unappreciated host to millions of Afghan refugees over 25 years.
3. Ruined Pakistan`s peace and tranquility with the introduction of a ``Kalashnikov`` culture
4. Worsened the already delicate Shia/Sunni relationship within Pakistan by importing anti-
Shia attitude of the Tally Bans.
5. Created the worst interpretation of Islamic values since Wahabbism by helping Tally Bans
6. Became identified with 9/11, Tally Ban, AlKayda, and other detested events and groups.
Next time we decide to help our Muslim brethren, let`s make sure that our actions will actually help them AND us. Otherwise, let`s mind our own business and clean our own house. BTW, this advice may also apply to Kashmir.
Thanks,
Salim

Thank you, my friend. Who says fatwas aren`t fun? :)
If I made you laugh, then it makes my day.
Let me also compliment you for this excellent article in which you do not shy away from bitter truths. You confront the issue head-on, and judging by the approaching 500 post mark, you have been very successful in generating interest.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks,
Salim.

I can understand your situation. With a Hindu Rajput last name, it was not easy to explain to many Pakis that I was born a Muslim. BTW, I think that Baig is a Turkish title. Good luck with the ratios. :)

Pakistan was ostensibly created to preserve Islam, provide a haven for Muslims of the subcontinent where they could practice their faith in peace, in unity, with their lives and property secure. With the notable and sad exception of Modi`s Gujarat, India is much closer to than vision that Pakiland.

I have good news. Pakis, eat your hearts out. I have just stumbled across a fat fatwa. According to the famoous fundo mulla rock star, Shariah Qairy, it is totally Islamic for Kashmiris to be part of India. You see, the lovable and amiable President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam is a Muslim and a pretty good one at that - the strongest drink he has had was a glass of fermented coconut milk in MudderAss. As long as India has a Momin as head of state, India is considered DAR-UL-ISLAM and not DAR-UL-KUFR. OTOH, Mushy, while equally lovable, has been known to ingest a couple now and then. Also, he has been known to keep canine company right in his own house - thus preventing the visitation from angels to the President`s House in the Land of the Pure.
As long as Kashmiris pray for the health, wealth, and wisdom in their Juma prayers for their president, it is totally Halal for Kashmir to be part of India. Of course, India would have to have a Muslim President for this to continue - talk about job security.

It is a shame that I have to switch nics to get my viewpoint expressed. Will Pakistanis Listen and Act?
The bone of contention between Chowk and me is simply a combination of freedom of expression and nepotism. They do not agree with me, my opinions, and my tactic of responding in kind to insults hurled at me by their favorites. There are people that Chowk favors (Scout, Saminasha, Sobia, Temporal, JohnGalt, Atif, and others) who are allowed to say whatever they like without incurring Chowk`s wrath or having their messages and threads deleted or censored. The same is not true for others, especially me.
Thanks for listening.

No, I am not posing as a Muslim. I was born one. I am forced to use multiple and confusing nics to confuse Chowk Staff. This group of tyrants is adamant on suppressing my views, deleting my messages, and erasing my threads. By changing nics, and trying to mimic ``acceptable`` noble personalities, e.g. Mr. Rsridhar, I am able to temporarily confuse the demagogues.
I hope you understand. No harm intended.

I reiterate. As detestable as they are, the illiterate Mullahs are NOT the problem. Rather, it is the so-called ``educated, liberal, quasi pro-western, progressive`` Pakis who have led the nation to ruin. The debacle of `71 was entirely created by them. This struggle has nothing to do with Islam, Pakistan, Kashmir, or anything else. It is a simple case of looting the poor country. These progressives want to get in power and establish their oligarchy. English for them, Urdu for the poor. Whiskey for them, polluted water for the poor. Meat for them, daal roti for the poor. US/UK higher education for them, madrassas for the poor. Comfortable heaven on earth for them, 72 houris in paradise for the poor. Servants for them, servitude for the poor. Birds of paradise for them, what the bird left on the rock for the poor. Salim

What is this? Something is not right here. Saladin was a Kurd of the 12th century and not an Arab. His empire vanished in the next century. Pan-Arabism did not materialize until the 19th century mostly led by Christian Arabs in Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine - against Turkish rule and in support of British, French, and Italian hopes. I think that you are skipping over a few centuries with that wide brush of yours.

I have always responded to you in kind. Now, please don`t make an ass out of yourself on this forum as you have on UP.
