Please read the issues again. Zia was not the focal point. It was the military of which Zia was a member and a leader. Of course he wasn't the first military man to usurp the throne, he was merely the third one. I never based the case on Zia alone. In fact, your posts have validated my claim. As for #1, Pakistan did take the high road and agreed to the UN Security Council's resolution for conducting a plebiscite. Mr. Nehru, who himself took the matter to the UN, worked diligently to circumvent its resolutions.

You alredy know my opinion of Mr. Jinnah's vision and performance under pressure.

As for the Baramula incident, the organizers of the Lashkars forgot the lesson from the Hashasheen (Assassins) of yesteryear - always make sure the man going on the mission is well fed, his thirst quenched, and his desires serviced BEFORE deployment.
