Conduits
I think you have made many conclusions without going into finer details.
Firstly, I have been responding to the articles of Jawahara in a particular way, I think she understands that pretty well. Unlike other writers on the Chowk, Jawahara writes about something which exists on the Mental Plane and not on the Physical Plane. She does not write about India/Pak, Politics, Religion etc. but she writes about mental effects like changes, blasphemies, diaspora etc. To understand the mind of such a writer, one has to go inside his/her world otherwise you may be writing many things but they may be inconsequential to him/her. Jawahara represents a particular group of diasporic Indians which are not only small in numbers and people like Jawahara are still smaller. Therefore, a person who is not diasporic either will have no interest in Jawahra`s thinking or if he wants to feel that way ,he has to make some kind of juggelery.
You found my Post at No.3 crazy, I found your comments on that funny. No such conduit exists for me. But to feel about what Jawahara is feeling, I had to construct one, howsoever artificial it is, and experience it first hand. So first I constructed that artifical conduit which took me somewhere, but when I could feel it, I abruptly abandoned it and commented at Post No.4. If I had not created that Cosmic Conduit, it would have been hard for me to visualise what Jawahara is talking about.
Lastly, you seem to have some problem with my ID. Dont lose your sleep over it. I have stopped interacting in Chowk. I have decided that I will only interact with Jawahara on this forum and with nobody else. So if you dont like my presence, either you have to skip atleast Jawahara`s column or ask her to relieve me so that I can say good bye to chowk for ever.
Have a good day.

Conduits
Such conduits start from the real world and end in the fool`s world. The person entering such conduits does not know where is going, what is he doing or what is he upto.
Simply put, just waste of time, energy and space.

These are some of the dangerous points of ``conduits`` which I mentioned in my Post No.4.Such conduits start from the real world and end in the fool`s world. The person entering such conduits does not know where is going, what is he doing or what is he upto.
Simply put, just waste of time, energy and space.
Conduits
These are basically ``get-aways`` for us. They take us to what we miss in our lives. Thats one point. Secondly, we humans are always looking for change in their lives. These changes are not easy to come by. You cannot change your job or your house every now and then. And when the changes in our real lives are not possible, we do not stop. We bring them about in our mental lives or in our dream-worlds or in thought -process. These conduits represent nothing but our desire for a change.
I dont think that there can be any positive or negative side of these conduits. They remain in our minds. They cant change us normally but yes..they can play havoc with us if the longing for something or some place is too great. That it starts affecting our normal lives. Entering the conduit during bed-time is fine..or rather it will be healthy..but entering the same conduit during working or say during driving can be dangerous.
All in all ,I feel that these conduits are an essential part of our lives, a part of our self. They have remained with us always and will remain so.
Nothing harm in them. They are to be enjoyed..but yes..with some caution.

Now to your question as to why do we make such conduits. The answers are complex though not impossible. These are basically ``get-aways`` for us. They take us to what we miss in our lives. If I had such a ``conduit`` or a ``gateway`` or simply``get-away`` where would I go?? America, Germany, Japan.....ammmm..no. I think I would expect my conduit to take me somewhere with a lightining speed and when I am out on the other end...I find myself.....wow...right in the middle of the Universe with galaxies, stars and planets shining in the dark sky all around me. I would stand on a meteorite with my hands stretched and move freely in the space. Sometimes, I would sit on the head of a comet and move around aimlessly. The Earth would look a blue spot at a great distance. Would I return back?? ....ammm No. Zameen ki roshiyon sey aasmaanon key andherey zyada acchey hain( The darkness of the skies is much better than the lights of the Earth). I will continue to swim in the vast ocean of emptiness..do I expect to meet someone special there.....whom on earth we know as God. If I do meet Him, would love to take a long interview ..the most unique interview ever in the histories of interviews...Wow,,kitna maza ayega...and that too when the creator is in the front of His creation.........and answering questions.......

Balochistan Militancy -- An Insider\'s View
It is almost Six years now since my infatuation with Pakistan started. Why did it start--simple-infatuations occur on their own without any reason. During the last six years, everyday I have tried to study Pakistan, its people, its policies etc. bit by bit. I contributed in different Pakistani websites, under different names-of course, obtained the views of Pakistanis etc.etc--you can simply say it has been a kind of a Research Project.
I feel my research is now getting complete. Though, I wanted to write a Book on Pakistan, but that would be only possible if I can visit Pakistan, meet the people ,talk to responsible people etc. to have the first hand knowledge. Otherwsie ,my favourite work will remain based on hear-say only. I dont know, whether my visit to Pakistan would be possible during my lifetime or not.
Now, due to other pressing assignments of my life, I think I will have to take a break from my research-work on Pakistan, for say the next five years or so. Though I will continue to ``study`` Pakistan but will not ``think``. I have to save my mental energy so that I can utilise it for other responsibilities that are coming up in my life.
But before I end, here is the result of my study about Pakistan and the projection for the country for the next 30 years:-
1. Pakistan is still not a conventional nation. It is a “nation-in-the-making” and will continue
to remain so in the next 30 years.
2. Pakistan Army will be playing an important role in its governance in the next 30 years.
3. Without a strong Army, the country will not be able to maintain its territorial integrity.
4. There will be fissiparous tendencies emerging out in different regions from time to time,
but they will die down as Army will be able to handle/control them.
5. Democracy will keep on coming and going for another 30 years. Democracy will not be
able to sustain itself without the back-up of Army. The chances of Pakistan becoming a
truly democratic nation in the next 30 years are bleak.
6. The chances of Pakistan being ruled by a Taliban type of a group are also negligible.
During democratic periods, religious parties may form the government but not without
the help of either democratic parties or Army.
7. India will continue to cast its huge shadow over Pakistani politics, people and its culture.
A lot of national time and mind will be consumed in countering the effects of India. The
relations with India will continue as they are today. Kashmir will not be resolved and
both the countries will remain arch rivals of each other.
8. Pakistan will come under increasing pressure on economic front. The going in economic
front will not be that easy because of globalization and intense international competition.
9. Unless Pakistan carves out a field of specialization for itself, it will be very difficult for it
to sustain economically.
10. Pakistan will also find itself in tight-spot in the West-Muslim World equations. So far the
things were easy in Afghanistan but in future Pakistan will be required to take clear
sides.
11. Overall, the next 30 years will be the same as the 30 years between 1970-2000 barring
occurrence of another Bangla Desh.
This is what I can foresee the future of Pakistan for the next 30 years. The only thing ,I have not touched upon is how long Prez.Musharraf will continue.
Assuming that he lives, my assessment is that he will continue well past 2007 and upto 2012. In case ,he crosses 2012, then he will remain atleast upto 2020. It may so happen that he may make arrangement with political parties that he will conduct free and fair elections and allow the elected Prime-minister to work independently but with some kind of power sharing between him i.e. the head of the state and the government.
At the end, my best wishes to all of you in Pakistan. I have found you to be intelligent and well read. But more often than not ,you are horrible as a group. So try to live and work in groups—with your families, with your friends, with your neighbours. The only difference between you and Indians to my mind is that Indians make very good groups-that they will shed all their individuality for the sake of their group, make compromise and live in the group. But that is generally not the case with you—you are much more individualistic.
All the best to you all and those at Chowk. Bolta_aaina aab nahi bolega. But those of you who are here--
Happy In-chowk-xication.
Enjoy.

With due respect, I can only say that with whatever resources about Balochistan available with a common person, one can only say that the situation in Balochistan is pretty bad. It is definitely not what you are saying.
I think it would be better that responsible persons in Pakistan like you also accept it and do something about them. Else, if it cools down on its own then good otherwise only God can tell whether or not it will turn out to be another East Pakistan.
By the way, best of luck from my side and hope that what you are saying is indeed true.

``strange how the paki haters diss the paki press and then liberally quote from it when it suits there purpose ``
I take objection to your above comment. Dawn is a respected newspaper amongst Indians (I think you are one of its staffers). Though, Dawn has an anti-India stance, that not withstanding.
My point in pasting your editorial in the forum was to know the truth behind Balochistan. Well, what do I get of it, that can be debated.

Your article and views expressed in the interactive forum are in variance with the editorial of DAWN which has been published today.
Dawn writes :-
THE guns reportedly fell silent in Balochistan on Sunday. Given the fact that no truce has been agreed upon formally by the two sides, one cannot be sure that the fighting will not start again. The province has been in the grip of an on-again-off-again civil war for over a year, but since December, when the conflict intensified, hostilities have been uninterrupted.
It further writes :-
Today the country faces a dangerous situation. The underlying causes that have created so much unrest in Pakistan’s largest but most sparsely populated province have not so far been seriously addressed. .......... the two sides have come to be locked in a confrontation that could prove to be devastating and also make a dialogue even more difficult to initiate and conduct. Nevertheless, this is something that has to be done because problems of this nature cannot be resolved at gun point.
It is also important that the government addresses the grievances of the Baloch in all sincerity so that the economic and political backwardness of the province is removed expeditiously.
The above editorial clearly shows that the turbulence in Balochistan is not on the surface as cliamed by you. It has its origin in the very bottom i.e. at the common man level.
Now whom should one believe???

Definitely ,you should know better.
But the thing is an area comes into focus of international attention when a state deploys its ARMY to control the stituation. That itself means that all other remedies available to the State have failed and the state is at ``war`` with the region/area/province to maintain its territorial integrity. This is not true for Pakistan but also for India.
But looking from here in India, the picture in Pakistan appears to be more dismal(whatever may be real truth). The Indian army in Kashmir and North-east is not fighting with the people there--it is rather fighting the insurgent groups. I have not been to Kashmir but I have worked in North-east India so I know the situation first-hand. In North-east, the Indian Army has been deployed to fight the insurgents like ULFA etc. who appear from nowhere, do their acts and disappear. The army is always look out for their bases, their sympathisers etc. but there is not an all out war going on there the way it (appears) to go in Srilanka and Pakistan.
