Why is Karachi Turning Into a Sell-Out?
Posted by nycoolest Jul 21, 2008 10:37 am
Why karachi walla supports MQM's action??

answe lies in the simple Anu Bhai VS. Haji sahab approach presented in a show I was watching on weekend.

They presented two characters Annu 'Bhai' and 'Haji' Sahab who are running for local mohalla elections.

Anu Bhai has all the ills of the society and has the bharam of badmaash. He does take care of community work by using his power, name and relationships. Out of mohalla he is a maniac, do poondi and drink like a fish... Haji sahab on the other hand, performed 30 haj, always trying to please Allah, give out magnificent speeches to collect chanda for noble causes but don't do jack for community and shut off his door when mohallay walla need him.

who will you vote? :) isn't this karachi's political scene. MQM vs. Jamati
Anti-Americanism in Pakistan and the Taliban Menace

true to its core pervaiz sahab. The monster is eating up Pakistani society under the viel of Islam. Anyone disagreeing with talibs r punishable to death. They have demolished the tribal society by killing 200 khans in fata who could posses a challenge to their occupation of tribal land. Barbarians donot know a thing but hate and bigotry. Its the time of to finish them off or be finished.
Twenty Three Students Expelled From Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad

this is nothing new from jamati. I wonder, if they are they the only political entity in this college.... such kind of incident surely not possible in big urban centers like karachi, lahore and Islamabad where there are different political groups in colleges rather then only one. A rival student group could be able to protect the restricated students from IJT and the principal couldn't be pressured to do such a step. it was unethical.

Mahsood is agencies' man, so he is roaming freely under the umbrella of Jirga talks and agreements. Army want an issue and he is provider of one....how else rogue generals would earn there amreeci dollars in term of aid if there is no trouble or at afghan-Pakistan border??
When he is not needed in future he would turn into another Naik Mohammad in no time.

Ataf Pai, your observation is what we call Qiamat ki Nazar rakhna... good travelogue by you like always. The city have all kind of wonderful races and ethnicities so to call it Mojo airport is a bit extravagant.

Did you not stop by at the Macdonalds inside the terminal?. I believe it is the only Mickey D in the world who outsource its orders to the bigger Mickey D outside the terminal. Their cashiers take orders and run outside to the bigger macdonald, to get your meal. Amzingly the meal comes garma garam which I did not expect after my order. :)
The ‘shoey’ Side of Politics

well written article Naqvi Sahab.

I wonder who will be next in the list of civil society/lawyers 'to do list' after Naeem Bukhari, Tariq Azeem, Farooq Sattar, Ahmed Raza Qusoori, Arbab Raheem, and Shef Afgan :)
Student Politics in Pakistan: A Profile

{Are you some kind of a comedian? These people were from the lot of Al-Shams and Al-Badar, that wreacked havoc in East Pakistan. How can such people form a progressive group?
}

Abay ganjay dozaqi, what does Al-badar and Al-Shams of 1970s East Pakistan has to do with late 80s APMSO in karachi university?? There is simply no connection.

{There were student's group on National aspiration and not based on ethnic superiority}

oh yeah? Which one? and what are their accomplishments?

{Have you ever attended a Mohajir gathering. They almost always start their functions with a religious prayer. ANd you call these what? You consider yourselves as secular.}

Abbay chooran, being secular doesn't mean Anti-Islam.
The ANP Challenge
Posted by nycoolest Feb 22, 2008 01:07 pm
Adam, I agreed and no I didnt mean punjabi nationalism means Pakistani nationalism or anyone needs to prove his loyalty.

ANP had a history of blaming every ill in NWFP to Punjab. As being the biggest in population the punjabis (nationalists or fedralists -- both so intermixed there) are always the major players in formation of national governments. Their acceptance of ANP leader who used to go after them would not be easy, nor does Asfand Yar wali be trusted to forget his anti punjabi nationalist stand overnight.

Khan sahab would rather take the frontier then Islamabad as his last conference with Zardari is hinting. The ANP provincial government will change the name of province to Pakhtoonkhua and counter insurgency by setting up jirgas which would be accepted by all with no issue. Hence they have more chances to fulfill promises to the pakhtoon voters voted for them.

The question is, would he be able to quite Pashtoon nationalism banner and come under the Pakistani nationalism banner...
The case of energy amd development of new damns are also a major hurdle for Punjb to accept him as a new master.

zeemax, these chaps do bombing when they are being ensured that it will be a great service to Islam and paradise is guranteed for this act.

I don't need to tell you that Molvies are the educators who suppose to teach people in the light of Islam. They are suppose to have a collective opinion of what is Jihad just like any other issue of pakistani/world society.

You and I can agree that suicide bombing has nothing to do with Islam and its teaching but sadly there are a good number of poorly educated people who believe it is ain Islam to murder like this, thanks but no thanks to the years of brain washing by Pak Army who is now suffering by their own deeds...

I do think its Haram Moth for these suicide bombers. What's your take on it?

Why not these self prescribed champion of Islam molvies Fazlur Rahman, Qazi Hussain Ahmed and Sami ul Haq say a single word against the suicide bombings?? these lunatics killed innocent in the name of Islam and not a single one of them dares to speak against it is quite questionable.
