I think it is fairly well thought piece, religion can not be enforced in its literal sense and it was never meant to be. Banking needs to be looked into it in its totality, that the economies can not survive without banking, but, through Islamic banking the intention has been shown, eventually sooner rather then later, the bench mark will also come through. Some of the tools being used in todays financial markets are incorrect, so there is no need to justify everything that exists today in banking sector to comply with economic regulations set 1500 years ago. Islam has clarified the basic principle and then it is upto each country and society to implement them. Currently the financial tools are created for the sake of it, for armchair investors, they neither add anything to the real act of social work and jobs nor offer any significant value and assurance. Keep up the good work mate.
One Dayers and All
Cmon now, don`t be so disgruntled, for a country of 1 billion people their obsession with one sport says something, it says this is democracy and masses want what they want. Yes it has shades of grey sometime but my friend, look around, this sport is still the best and most honest alternative availble for entertainment and creating idols for youngsters. What would you rather have, kids following Sachin and Rahul or kids idolising Laloo Prasad Yadav and Malika Sherawat.

Temporary Marriage in Islam
After reading this articel the term ABCD (American Born Confused Desi) I really understood its tru meaning and what shapes it can appear in.
The question to ask is not what is wrong with Islam, as one can give cruel and barbaric examples from every major religion, the practice of Sati (burning the wife upon the death of her husband) is still prevailant in Hinduism, the attrocities that church has committed in the last three hundred years are still fresh and we should all remember that no other race or religous group has inflicted as much pain as Jews did on Jesus, and this is not even the tip of the Iceberg.
People who indulge in such unfair and barbaric act are a monorty and these are lost souls who (in their mind) are trying to protect their religion and be excellent practitioners of their beliefs. But, in doing so they get blinded to history and considering others perspective.
What you beleive is not the only right path, there is room for others` beliefs to co exist as well, unfortunately both Bush and Ladin are forgetting the same lesson and along with them their supporters and are actually going down the same path, of extremism and ragin war, the underlying mantra is, you are either with me or against me.
Is it justified to hate and blame all christians for Nazi acts just because Hitler was christians, he also did it under the guise of relegion and to start a superior race ``Marshal Race`` or for that matter Germans.

I completely agree with M. Asadi, It has become extremely fashionable and convinient to have a go at Muslims and Islam. Increasingly so called Muslim people in USA have become defensive and in their desperate effort to seem ``modern`` and `` non extremists`` they are going to all lengths to either approve of or justify current social pracices that prevail in America. On one hand they want to belong to Amercian society and on the other hand they want to stay attached to their roots (may be not because they are actually attached to their roots but probably because it is expected that you will be proud of your roots). This is giving birth to the phenomena of justifying relegion through the current social structure, which in itself is undefined, uncertain and changing. If live in partners is a rage today, it was not the case for vast part of history, this is a very new idea, less then 50 years old. What if in the next 50 years it becomes a taboo or out of fashion or socially undesirable, as already the impact that single parenthood is having on society, especailly in poorer people, is quite negative. So is it wise to define Islam or for that matter any other religion, most of them are over 1000 years old, throuhg the current practice of a trend apparent in less then half of the world population? may be not. After reading this articel the term ABCD (American Born Confused Desi) I really understood its tru meaning and what shapes it can appear in.
