From Agra To Niagara
Posted by Knell420 Dec 22, 2006 03:36 am
Excellent article! Simple and without any gimmicks (something which quite a few writers on Chowk are prone to use) but effectively gets the writers emotions across! Great job, made me reminisce about my past!
What Osama gave Muslims

A very weird article!! What is your point?? You seem to be doing exactly what Bush/Blair are doing i.e. holding one man responsible for everything going wrong with the world!! You talk about how Osama should have worked for the welfare of his countrymen and the Afghans, why??? Welfare is not the responsibility of philanthropists or the third sector (ngos), it is the responsibility of the state and sadly in both the countries in question, the state is completely ineffective and uninterested when it comes to social welfare. So please stop blaming Osama and try to understand the dynamics of the global war on `terror`!!!

The Driving Ideology Behind Al Qaeda

I agree with the premise of your article, however I do find your viewpoint on OBL subjective and uninformed to say the least. But your argument that Islam has been used as a smoke screen to push for revolutionary change certainly makes sense. I wouldn`t call it a smoke screen but more of an ideological basis for a social movement. If we glance at the political landscape of muslim countries, the absence of a out and out social party is notable in a majority of cases and therefore it is no surprise that religious parties are thriving by `selling` the socialist aspects of Islam to the masses.
