India’s Nuclear Fizzle
Posted by nokia Sep 7, 2009 04:59 am

Instead of being hateful towards others, and trying to score with oneupmanship, why don't you try to look into alleviating problems of your own dispossessed?

Haha!! Yaar GF, instead of pointing out how I was wrong in my post, you cleverly sidestep the issues and point to the poor in India. As I said in my post before, India has made rapid strides in the last 2 decades by achieving an almost 9% growth and this has brought several people out of poverty (if you check figures for the last decade) and while this is certainly not a spectacular achievement, it shows we're headed in the right direction.

There was a time when Pakistan was looked up to by the Asian tigers as the role model to emulate. Today, it is an international migraine. Can you honestly say Pakistan is faring better than it was a decade or two ago?

Well, fortunately for a start more of them have managed to stay out of the gutters that most of your unfortunate countrymen live in.

Nice comeback GF yaar! Unfortunately oratorial skills are no substitute for hard facts. And the sorry fact is that Pakistan has been termed the international headache by your own friends the Americans and as a consequence, billions of dollars have been poured into your country so that you don't become a bigger headache than you already are. Wasn't it your President who once remarked that American aid offered in return for Paki cooperation in the war against the Soviets were peanuts? Beggars cannot be choosers but how courageously Zia spurned the alms the Americans offered?

And despite all this, more and more Pakis continue to struggle to find viable means of living and either turn to the gun or choose to make the gutters their homes. No wonder Korangi continues to grow and flourish at a rapid rate.

GF yaar, there's not much to choose between India and Pakistan. Really, both are in the gutter; except that while India is looking out of the gutter, Pakistan continues to look in. And that is why despite teething problems, India continues to produce men and women of exceptional abilities who shine bright on the world stage competing with the best.

Other than in news related to terrorist plots and incidents, what have Pakis done to become noteworthy?

Ironic yaar GF, for a self-confessed atheist, you've brought into cow cr@p peddled by the followers of Jesus rather quickly.

As if you and your masters have every right to speak for the world.

I thought it was you who you have masters everywhere you can find them? If it is China to the East, it is the Saudis and Yanks in the Middle East and further west. No wonder you cannot think like self-respecting individuals and always project your way of thinking on to others. May Allah give you some self-respect because you cannot have any on your own!

Pakistan has a clearly defined identity. It is a collection of Muslim majority provinces in the NorthWestern corner of the subcontinent.

Yeah Majumdar bhai, and Africa is a collection of countries inhabited primarily by people of African origin.

Well folks, I'm not going to get dragged into the Gandhi-Jinnah discussion because they serve no one (at least no one in real life). Pakistan's first and foremost problem is not the terrorist problem. This is merely the symptom, the real cause lies in the lack of a clearly defined identity, and not one leader has done anything to define one for it. That is the true tragedy. Hopefully someone will do it for them, because Pakistan is well and truly running short of time.

I am afraid Pakistan's Baba-e-Qaum was right all along and our Baba-e-Qaum was a fraud of a most gigantic proportion.

Majumdar bhai, as someone wise once said opinions are like THE part of the human anatomy where the sun never shines, everyone has one (thumbs up wala icon).

That is why Beej bhayya, the chowk's foremost Gandhian, can speak glibly about nuclear winter. Cos he is safe in USA.

Majumdar bhai, looks like Gandhi's glamourous lifestyle still gives you a heartache, but that is no reason to unnecessarily drag him into an unrelated discussion. You're turning out to be Chowk's resident Shakuni :-)

Well done Yasser! It takes courage to own up and you have displayed just that. Some day, I hope you'll own up to the fact that I have been right all along and you were wrong on our other favorite issue too :-)

PS: Harish here.

Hey Salil, great to be talking to you. Good to know you're still in Hyderabad. As for our Hyderabad, only one who has stayed here long enough can appreciate its eccentricities along with the beautiful aspects of it.

I was at Koti at the time the blasts took place at Gokul. The scenes were so ghastly I cannot describe it. Maybe another time when the shock has worn off sufficiently.
