And then there was The Impeachment Issue…
Posted by sammywiseguy Aug 10, 2008 03:43 am
@HP..

you are from the same lot as mr. tahmed. Mush is not my hero. He has many mistakes to his name. I never deny that. I didn't say that Zia should be brought back. I never said that Nawaz and Zardari should be ousted right and exiled right now... I didn't assign a time to it, that's just a personal opinion.

And you are stupid if you think I'll stoop to creating many nicks and praising my own article.

Thirdly, the impeachment might be a 2 to 3 week process, but the effects will go beyond that. There will be repercussions. Don't come squabbling with long posts just cause you hate Mush and can't get it though your heads that the article wasn't about supporting mush.

@tahmed32..... i have been reading all your posts and honestly your constant bickering about basic rule of law and rights is getting tired now. I DIDN'T WRITE THIS ARTICLE TO DEFEND THE PRESIDENT. OR TO SAY THERE SHOULD BE NO IMPEACHMENT PROCESS. Let's get that clear and on record.

The coalition want's to carry out an impeachment. GO AHEAD. But at least stabilize the short term factors of the country ECONOMICALLY speaking, and put in a Concrete plan for a long term.

By the looks of it you are well read. Surely you can understand that when I say timing, I AM NOT DEFENDING ANYONE. Tell me, doesn't it bother you that this Impeachment now and the judges dilemma ever since the elections has so obviously been at the expense of a gross ignorance of economic management? If this country's economy's not stabilized and no effort is put into that, there will be nothing left for the RULE OF LAW.

Zardari and Nawaz Shariff in my opinion should be ousted and exiled from the country along with their political posse dating back to the 90's. If Mush is impeached right now, and since the process is going to start, IT WILL GIVE RISE TO OTHER FACTORS AND FURTHER WORSEN THE ECONOMIC SITUATION. When the economy is in problems, you don't go start waging other internal wars. You try strengthening. Ever heard of the word 'Planning'? Look it up in the dictionary.

You are seriously a very, demented person if you think this struggle, which is a very politicized struggle and one which is so oblivious to the plight of the common man, is necessary at this point in time.

@ahmedmadani..... i wasn't racist....when i said 'Dark Prince' ...for crying out loud i meant his evil side ... not the colour of his skin. The skin colour doesn't concern me the very least. no....i am more concerned with his ideas and plans for the plundering of Pakistan which he will no doubt have on the top of his list.

@zakaulhuda .... thank you....you have gotten exactly what i've tried to say.

@circular argument...let's hope there isn't a situation that needs kiyani.... or makes him feel like it needs him.

once again I am not arguing for any dictator. All i am saying is that when such problems are on the verge of creating chaos, WHY add more problems?

@frizz ... thank you.

@tahmed32 ..... hastily written perhaps. but you seem oblivious to the point I am trying to make. I'll leave out my own opinion on whether the President should be impeached or not. As for the judiciary, yes it should be independent. And as for the point you make ... good governance....well my friend ... Good governance does come at a cost, but GOOD Governance doesn't mean that you keep at 2 things which need to be prioritized much below other issues. Does good governance mean that you sacrifice economical issues in order to correct two things which will not solve the country's problems. NO!. Good governance is like management. This isn't a classroom governance 101. It's a country. Where there are more important things than the president, zardari, sharif and ch. iftikhar. Neither of them is bigger than the entire nation. If you want to talk about pre-requisites, fine lets talk about pre-requisites. But I can assure you, even then, these 2 issues won't make it to the top of the list. The pre-req. for Good economic Management would be good management at the top. And that doesn't mean petty political issues. That means running the country smoothly. That means, when you say on the first day VIP's will be simpler in their security measures, YOU DON'T give 20 POLICE MOBILES to some one IMPORTANT coming to an event in Karachi. That means you look at threats of the northern areas being overrun by militants and the countless lives that they are affecting. That means you invest in your country's infrastructure and not walk out of the federal cabinet within a month of it's inception.
State of Pakistan: What Can Pakistanis Do

@ all

The easiest thing to do is bring out negativity isn't it. And then linger on and on and on on it. Just use that brilliance towards a constructive debate. Maybe something positive and worthwhile can come out of it.

@ tahmed32

Sir, I never referred to having a better intellect then someone working in the fields. For all I know their might be brighter minds then myself, you or the next chowk.com writer(time waster). I merely pointed out to the capacity. And like I said, survival is the first thing that Humans have to get out of their thought process. Once that's done, then you can use your God Given Intellect at higher levels.

Salaam to everyone.

Thank you for first of all, commenting on my effort. I am still new at writing, so therefore I take all criticism positively, even if it wasn't given in that same light by some.

I am not going to start replying to everyone who has been consistently interacting on this article.

I would however like to make one thing clear. This article is not an 'attack' on overseas settled Pakistanis. Not by a long shot. If that's the feeling people get, then I apologize. The point I tried to make was simply towards one step or solution to benefit the country.

@ tahmed32. True, I should practice what I preach. And true, God gave everyone eyes, ears and brains. But unfortunately, not everyone, given their circumstances or situations is in a position to use the gray matter to it's full capacity or potential or towards a direction more than 'making ends meet'. Survival is the first instinct. If you are comfortable on that, then you think beyond. I firmly believe in that.

`My Money is with the south africans this time`

It is clear to me that the analysis on tha pakistanis is a non-optimistic one but rather a hopeful one. Other than that , after reading all the other interacts , the author is not Saying Pakistan Will win.

I agree with England thou, they won 3 in a row against australia under a miraculous spell of good luck. Pakistan is the dark horse as the article says.

And yes the South Africans look the best team to win it at the moment.
