Music: Here It My Way
Posted by foggy1 Jan 15, 2009 11:44 am
you have written about Pink Floyds music.inspiring.animals.i want to comment about your fairly recent article about pink floyds music and what it does to a target audience and why!?
dawn Sunday november 30 2008 floydosis FLOYDOSIS by nfp On understanding their popularity
nfp in your article i like the following gems-
-the question asked today is;why would so many people buy albums about madness, depression and suicide?
-and in the end, just ......to......the concept of madness in post-industrial societies.
-even though the purpose of the paper was to deconstruct........to..........a majority of young schizophrenia patients that he came across were all said to be heavy listeners of the music of Pink Floyd..
What ‘s with music?nay it is why ‘s with music?do tell true, if you are reading this and are normal.how much time would you like to/can you, give to a mentally disturbed person.if asked otta mentally disturbed person be given a sympathetic ear, for his outpouring.you would be the first one to say yes,but can you, do you, have enough time?no you are pressed for time, you have work to do, and the list goes on and on.if the mentally disturbed person is your family or acquaintance, sure you can give time, but then after repeated such patient hearings, you will feel he will never heed what you say to encourage, to improve, to make him come out of his shell.but that is the beauty of it.he just needs someone to listen to him, and he feels wanted, and thats enough to go on with life, as functional as he is, not a social burden yet.if he cannot have you as his “friend, he has pink floyd.he can listen to his music again and again.you cannot give him so much time, as pink floyd can.as yet i am talking of the positive psychotherapeutic effect)pause and think.he is just one of the many mentally disturbed.so many people will not have access to normal people like you for help.but these so many may have pink floyd.but if people like me and you drive the early schizophrenic to desperation, then the song of pf can drive him to his suicidal end, which only he thinks is justified.
(let us go to the pink floyd times).the above shows a thin line between disturbed and mentally disturbed young men and women.it is easy to go from just disturbed to mentally disturbed.but no mentally disturbed person would like to go back to being just disturbed.it is less hurtful to stay in the niche created for the mental component of mentally disturbed.communication is too difficult for a mentally disturbed person with the rest of the world.one in the west.such a person is usually very lonely,in his house, be he a single occupant or with his family.sparks of life burst in the the excitement of a dysfunctional family.but the excitement is unpleasant.do you think if people talked to each other like the words of a pink floyd song) even for 10 minutes, with tones of understanding, empathy and caring, people would feel less disturbed, more wanted and excused?but people do not have the time, the patience, and woe if they see you on the other side of normal-they at once assume the superior tone, start ordering you around, criticizing you even sometimes bullying you.why do you think people bury their noses in gardening, reading or some other activity suited for a recluse?good normal people(the practical down to earth, proper and hard working type) just dont understand the disturbed young men and women.
Now Picture Floyd Times; Like a child who holds a soft cuddly toy to go to sleep-these mentally disturbed youth cling to the music of pink floyd. they seem to think exactly what the words of the song say, they understand the meaning, their feelings are in the song, the music supports them, soothes them, they have been UNDERSTOOD.they could not be wrong.what they think, is being listened to by billions of others. the most important and successful group in the world is conveying their thoughts and feelings, to the whole world.and pink floyd understands them, therefore the whole world understands them.even if they cannot communicate what they go through to anyone, someone has already done it on their behalf, and it seems right.suddenly they are not alone.so they can sleep a sound sleep, their dreams dancing to the tune of the pink music, carrying them lightly, lifting their spirits, away from the jars, jibes and jabs of the unbending world.indulging their intimacy with the music to take them hi or lo at whim, so that they love to fall asleep.without floyd they would be insomniacs.tomorro, when they wake up, and see at their office or their dysfunctional family, the negative-to-them archetype, they wont point a finger at him.floyd has already done that, they will just smile faintly, look at them, with the song in their head saying “pf knows all about the people who are hurting you. if books can be companion to folk, so can music.

i think i somehow wrote my comments meant for this article in the televiban one.so now bear with me somemore as i cross over to the following from chowk.stop breathing now! Sunday dawn december 14 2008 nfp

he “nite keelab and the pampered girl child scen e was a main ingredient of our pakistani films in the days of yore.it used to provide the much needed excuse for family entertainment, the families who went to see the movies were adoptive of a peculiar philosophy.they had to bear(hardly)the s cene,as it was something which bad people do.this is what goes on in the world generally, and it is a part of the story.film stories thrive on showing the tussle between the forces of good and iniquity.if you get entertained by such rollicking frolics, it is not your fault.everybody knew what was coming.the pampered one is going to learn her lesson.after that she will quit the keelab dance style.and do some decent, semi classical stuff, which then everyone will feel free to comment about, and appreciate, and compare the popular film artistes as to who is a better and more decent dancer.travolta indeed!the nom sounds magnetic or may be electric-as in “volt for?.....

now for some thing similar about elektronic media boom.
by nfp mirror, mirror, nfp naked lunch images Sunday dawn 7 december 08

“this bubble-like prosperity and an overstated feeling of economic and political empowerment that this class of urbanites felt also elevated them as becoming the economic and conceptual drivers of the new found electronic media boom in india and pakistan.but the irony is that this bubbled prosperity did not make them more liberal, egalitarian, wise or progressive.instead, it made them feel a lot more insecure....
i feel suppose they had turned into all these liberal, egalitarian, wise or progressive.would these qualities still have been used to strengthen the feudalistic nature of the society? and the caste ridden structure of the sub continent. as for the elektronic media control under the masked hypocrisy of these societyies all these good qualities may have been seen projected in the media.
“.............did not necessarily turn it into a progressive batch.i think the only progressive path taken by those who control the electronic media is to find out more ways to improve the design of the vanity box which the media has become to show off their vain glorious power in politics and other fields.well i dont care where the progressive element comes from.it would be good if it is enough to go round to give the entire nation its basic facilities;health education and to keep them together a transport systems without fail or strikes.health is the most important concern for it has its preventive side too.which acknowledges and wants to ensure (anyone listening?) that every citizen of pakistan must get good food, nutrition and water;;no separate department needed for this.

i am curious to know the number and types of ADS which interrupted the flow of these talk shows.any How now some talk about the present. nfp sunday 23 11 08 images dawn some serious thoughts about fashion. what do the “fashion economistas say about the influence of the anorexia nervosa bevy on the catwalk;upon the world of tailors who are eager to copy the topnotch fashion designs, for their middle class clients?and the world of clothing and textile, which these clients buy from to substitute for the best available, as regards the fall and the feel of the fabric, which will make their tailor’s effort worthwhile and look “exactly (delusions notwithstanding) like the top fashion gear.also the world of ADS, for keep slim herbal drinks;and the clarity of the golden drop of cooking oil, which ensures no matter how much you drink er....cook in it, you will stay fat free and cholesterol say paak.and look so nice in the clothes fit for a slim model! is it not a large “economo scenario i mean the entire world of tailors, fabricians, ads, slimming agents and do not forget the accessories and package deals!.
Muslim Psyche After September 11, 2001
Posted by foggy1 Nov 29, 2008 06:37 am
after reading your article about the psyche as it stands in the islamic world post/11,i feel the differences which were existing though undefined have been brought to the surface.and people are somewhat forced to show their polarity.yet i would rather that i get my full dose of humanist views from humanistic psychology.this is the only region of psychology which would not play the role of just psychotherapy.(like couch therapy or stool therapy (behavior especially of animals being trained) no kidding! it can be applied to other fields as well.
all those areas which require training of personnel; especially in all those servises which deal with humans in one to one situation, or closely and intimately like nursing, teaching in schools, tailoring, and the world of fashion and more; well as i was saying and i will say a bit more; like in hands on training, volunteer workers, inter ns, unskilled workers and where work capacity increase technics are applied all these and more similar should be given a thorough drink deep of a series of verbal lessons.these lessons should be of psychology.humanistic psychology.(Social Interest and a Positive involvement in the community are hallmarks of a healthy personality)
But the best place to teach humanistic psychology would be the schools.(HUMAN beings are creative, choosing, self-determined decision-makers free to choose the goals they want to pursue).the earlier, the better.i am not saying that the class teacher should open a big book of psychology and start reading it to the earlier- than- toddler- stage babes(PEOPLE can be trained in this direction starting in infancy).
but in the hands of a good teacher,i have no doubt this too would be possible.what i would like to say is, it is expected that a fully qualified teacher has done her psychology.and humanistic psychology if taught in a way that awakens the child to respect each other’ s thoughts and feelings, and the way they look at the world, would lead to better lessons learnt in a school day.
take for instance a girl as good as gold, sitting amongst noisy brats.suddenly finds herself the target of teacher’ s objection.you there!stop talking then along with the tittering naughty ones she is labelled “bad girls.from then on she literally joins the club.talking in class, being naughty and not paying attention to lessons.sigh all that glittered was not gold.! it should be made easier for children to face such situations bravely.(“ IF we don't have a faulty lifestyle, we will progress together to help society)if a psychology teacher is there to show them, as a guide, a confidant, these children would learn the most important lesson in life how to be human when the rest of the world is behaving like animals or strange naughty creatures of the fairy world!(GOOD intellectual functioning produces solutions to problems which make sense not only to the individual but also to the group)! if a psychologist could team up with selected prefects and a few other teachers who boast of psychology in their qualification(in pakistan) and form a team who counsels, intervenes at the right time, and a team open to anyone in school who wants to say what is on his mind without fear, the children will not have any maladjustments. also as we know, many of our pakistani families are school-to-home type, they do not allow their children to go out of school for even school related activities, like trip to the zoo or their school competing with other schools.for such children to satisfy the urge to participate in welfare activities their school must do something.(WISE socialization is achieved not through repression but through social interest)it should provide platform for social uplift work.they could learn sign lingo and teach deaf and dumb children. they could see to it that each and every child of the school’s menial workers gets education.they could have a drive to donate a constant and consistent amount to pay for their fees, costumes. and text books.learning to accommodate and tolerate other children say with dyslexia, all these will give the children satisfaction and complete humanistic view of life.sensibility will prevail in good governance, if all the children get their share of good education.
(the quotations in brackets are noted from an adler’ s lecture which i luckily came across.)

talk shows here do not mention any students anywhere.any way after reading your "blood Campus " i had to put in something here.students union yes.studentsunion elections yes. politics no.
i remember the times, when politics was a matter between the political parties and their student wings.the student unions had committees which had members, and any student with talent or interest in any field like writing, sports, photography, oratory, so on was without bias fairly accommodated.the student union elections, was an event full of excitement and fun.we waited with bated breath for it.student unions should have their elections as soon as possible.the pre-ban tradition will return soon.no need to wait for a code of conduct to be formulated.why then do i say no politics.because nowadays if you do not say that, the asses will assume that you will favor politics or you do not mind politics occurring on the campus. a “say no to politics is a-(post zia) deterrent.
Reckoning Time for HEC
Posted by foggy1 Nov 1, 2008 11:53 am
This article is excellent. like many of your other high calibre ones.there are a number of very sensible solutions i agree with.but i like this one as the best, for i find it basic and easily possible if it is addressed.re;because bad teaching quality comes from having teachers with insufficient knowledge of their subject, it is important both to have better teacher selection mechanisms and to create large scale teacher training academies in every province". I suggest that “tags should include the words “madcap and “grinding teeth. It is heartbreaking to read what students are writing about HEC’s letdown.cut in grants to universities is going to have a tough effect on the students' higher study plans.still HEC would use all its resources and think tanks to keep its word to the PhD professors and scholarship students at all cost.now it is easy to see all new and upcoming universities will have to be on their own to make their new institute research- enabled to say the least.and build their own infra structure which can ably support research program.the LABS, the equipment, the library, the internet infrastructure and facility should all be ready and available.
next thing is the research program, for M.phil and PhD.this ball should be in HEC’ s court, only when the research program is duly on the valid anvil then must HEC step in.the university should be ready firstly with all the students admitted, the topics for research chosen, and the highly paid PhD professors appointed as their guide and mentor.that done, apart from the initial financing to cover the cost of preparatory and the indenting of any research program, the rest of the grant should be given instead of lumpsum, in adequate intervals phased out over the entire course.the feasibility of which should speed up by leaps and bounds, in the expected estimation and assessment of the sustaining and supporting cost continuously.the phased out grants should be prompt.period.for this a viable grants committee should be involved actively through the research programs of all universities, and never be allowed to collapse.this will have to be a very conscious effort by all departments concerned.speed of research work should be rewarded if it shows to be accelerating.breakdown in research progress due to teacher or student is another story and should be considered for solving problems, on a “quantum physics calculator -’y’ “ level.no kidding.

your trait talk.it is typical, perfect.unmistakable.even in a crowd you would pick them out, and say “its them!besides, such a good display of rather good looking snapshots.that shows care and choice!(specially Ardeshir and Imran).
tricks of the trait.you have used them before in more serious vein and in issues requiring insight, such as psycho-social issues.it is very important to understand whither psycho-social evolution, as per succumbing to or surviving internal and external forces.would that all political parties without exception, look into your articles.if they see a poor reflection of themselves, then they must take measures to improve their image, for the sake of good governance and healthy politics!say, measures like having a cabinet in the cabinet, containing remedies and solutions to correct one’s appearance.if they see their image as ‘dirty’ then they must know they are labelled as ‘dirty politicians’.so they must get the full range of face, hand washes and cleansing agents, to correct their image.if their hair appears uncombed and deranged.then they have resorted to pulling each others’ hair out.unbecoming political behavior!.they must apply a good hair styling and grooming and nourishing gel and get a peace loving look.if sore eyes, sore skin and sore lips, then get soothing eyewaash, soothing healing skin cremes, and medicated lip cremes and gargarismas (if foul words did accompany too much loose talk).
in these articles(nfp’s) we have a free expert opinion on the current sociological picture.and how it gets influenced by politics, or vice versa.we can see the roadmap and we can see ourselves actually moving in the direction of an evolution.we have the power of bringing to a standstill all movement, or to change the direction to our liking or drift till we become victims of change.
why dont we take advantage of this’free social commentary’.in the days of yore, people could not picture the historical change.now news dailies have put people in the daily moving picture.though sadly commentators of comprehensive ‘’social’’ change are but an available few......

theme parks-who will direct the non-english speaking tourist to these places.if he is pakistani italian or pakistani from beverly hills then what are his chances?
the ethnic group that is called martians, any chance of any martian being a victim of favoritism?
you forgot that tourists like to visit places.these are called tourist spots.climate is fine. but people and religion, the culture and the politics cannot bring you the ticket nor get you the bus to go to these tourist spots.the department or the ministry of/ for/ tourism otta.people-are very hospitable.religion-like ansar burney’s motto=help the ‘musafir’.culture very hospitable and food and food streets!politics well, maybe they have a say in what the ministry of tourism does!

it is a riot-this article.so National Formula Pharma is offering remedies.what is the remedy for being not sensible?when people are in the “sensible mode, they are clear that all forms of suicide are wrong.trouble is that those who blow themselves up do not think that is suicide.so when the sensible get confused and cannot distinguish between “hara kiri, kame kaze, self immolation, self sacrifice and simply putting to sleep, they must just run back to their stand-point-which says suicide is wrong.if they do not do that they will get paranoid and even withdraw from reality.

Dear nfp you never sound alarmed without reason.ref;;"the result:the emergence of warped, drawn out lecturers on tv.....&....."even though recently a once liberal english daily...."
i checked it out afterwards,"scanning" a number of talk shows ,and found you were right.there is a definite change in the trend of the talkshows, recently, and it is definitely lopsided and monopolistic.as if they are saying if you dont like the local flavor of the talk, go switch to international TV channels and hear the range of opinions you want.

some focus needed.interesting terms more clarity wanted."long winded scholar talkers" on the tv screens-why are they long winded?who do they have to please, why ?are they trying to make their point in the lobby of people who might call them not modern. are they guilty of enjoying the fruits of modernism namely their jobs on the most modern media watched by a comparing international viewership?
what is an aggressive apologist stance.and what direction does the aggressiveness take.
convolutions-are they making it round and round to tell the moderns on whose side they really are or are they telling the opposite side they have to stay somewhere in the middle in order to communicate with both.come on nfp they could not be on a majority of talk shows really.
Olympic Dreamers
Posted by foggy1 Sep 1, 2008 11:03 am
I found this quite amusing;"rather than calling it a play they call it a ‘workout’.Also you wrote ‘’I have met a number of competitive players in my practice, who, either become anorexic, got addicted to drugs or experienced family breakdowns as they could not keep a balance between their personal, professional and family lives.’’
Such big dream dreamers, and when something goes wrong, then nightmares. What no mention of Freud, and the couch, when there is so much talk of psyche and the dreams? To the variety of patients frequenting the psychotherapists clinics I see now, the competitive players! With the olympics attracting focus of attention, i was into thinking of the sport psychologist being with the team of competitive players, along with his colleagues the sport doctor and coach!.So not to forget the psychotherapist’ s clinic is the place where his clients come to him, at least when they come back from China, that is the olympic China.Such an increasing variety of patients. One feels such a variety of patients ought to have the right to choose their own psychotherapists, chiefly from the point of view of the psychotherapeutic approach which would suit them.I remember the case of a girl, who was dreading (suicidal; imagine if one attempts to commit suicide just to avoid a visit to of all the folk, the psychotherapist!!!!) a visit to the psychotherapist. The family liked him, he believed in dynamic therapy. The (educated)girl just wanted someone who would help her sort out her feelings and thoughts. With her family it was just that they would not listen to what she had to say, they had no time for her.Their lifestyle was busy, she had no solitude, no time to think things out.Besides being a large family, there was not much privacy around especially in bedrooms.Reckon girl athletes would want to exercise more choice!.I know of a number of people who like the old fashioned couch therapy.
Eclectic clinics would be, i feel the ideal answer. The other day i came across this,Silver medallists at the olympics seem to perform what psychologists call an upward counterfactual-they compare themselves against someone better off than them.Bronze medallists seem to perform downward counterfactuals-they tend to compare themselves with people who did worse.)So since anxiety belongs to almost everybody, such a clinic would do well to rent out a floor to deep relaxation teknics-aroma therapy, color therapy, soothing sound and “quiet therapy.Even hypnotherapy. And all the therapies that go round the main principle of “meditation.A beauty clinc, which makes a person look good, with a nice make-up and a becoming hairstyle-add to the effectiveness of psychotherapy, I feel. And maybe-a room for a “playout(to remove anxiety from a workout??).
Anti-Americanism in Pakistan and the Taliban Menace

the psycho-social makeup of society is very much disturbed, especially in the rural areas.in the urban areas things are not going that well either.people are politically confused, they are disappointed and frustration seems to be closing upon the whole populace.all the more reason why the urbans would set their own house in order as far as education is concerned.
on the top we have HEC and its encouragement for research, at the bottom we have the school dropouts.valuing human resource ought to be done from the bottom level.the government’s chief role ought to be to see that schools form their own groups who concentrate on drop-out issues.if the reason is financial, or non-availability of transport, textbooks, uniforms, and so on,the government and the school groups should work together and help the affected school children.
then these school groups, especially in the public SECTOR schools should keep student’ s perfrormance always in the forefront of their agenda.they must see which students are WILLING to study, this is a most important criterion.next a range must be established, in which they should start out from an average student who has never failed, to good students and finally excellent students.these students should NEVER be lost sight of.they should be made to perform from good to better and sky is the limit.they should be helped out financially.scholarships must be easily available, but only for the excellent students-if more and more students are encouraged to get distinctions in their papers, they all should get scholarships.the National internship program is good, and students from pre-matric section must be included, trained and given stipend.later they could be selected as paid research workers for any of hec research activities or projects.boosters at Ba, Ma, BSc and M.phil levels must be provided, till these students reach PhD level safely.Medical education should be given a separate and special fillip.URDU medium good students ought to be given the opportunity to study comprehensive english, through a free course, and they should be given the opportunity equally to their english lingo counterparts.
needless to say the school groups should keep in view the schoolmasters, who have put in a long servis, are devoted, teach well, the students love them and love to attend their classes, the students understand their lectures and easily remember them.these teachers are broadminded, they encourage students to read other books as well, browse the internet for knowledge, and do not fly into a rage when the student tries to explain the lesson in his own words.such teachers must be honored, celeberated, rewarded and decorated at national level.they should be given paid leave and opportunity to complete their Ma or phd even.their retirement plans should be solid, and they should retire with a handsomepension.they must be given bonuses, health insurance and lots of endowments.during their servis they should be given lots of opportunities to join as a senior research worker in hec’ s any ongoing research projects.
good and stable education is needed to remove ‘’superstition’’ from religion.good educated persons are forces on the good side and are necessary for a nation’ s survival, in the face of gross rumor mongering and killing of innocents.
The Wrong Mix

Honestly why do so many -isms need the vehicle of socialism?i am forced to think that owing to the current status of political scenario and the existing peoples complexion of poverty and need which may obstruct the simple delivery of basic necessities. owing to the reigning -ism and its tussle with the -isms of the oppositional slant.then emerge the groups who are ready to give help to the people any -ism they maybe colours their social theme because these people are active socially and can actually reach the people. here i would like to mention another -ism which i feel has an erratic influence.I would not have got it from history textbooks. At least not with the easy read and pleasure of registering through an interesting article.Even if the textbooks carried a commentary on the subject.Am referring to the article ‘’Trouble in .....’’in Dawn Sun 8 Jun 08.So Bohemian culture did change ,alas.Got to see the new strains that developed, under the magnifying analysis of nfp.But no one can match the classic bohemian spirit et al.You wrote, ‘’those creative, eccentric and idealistic people who were ready to hit the depths of economic depravity and face establishmentarian and general social scorn for wwhat they believed in. The first bohemians were the true bohemians,I say!!
Wealth has a habit since time immemorial, to buy talent to please itself. In so doing the talented has to conform to the demands and conditions provided by the wealthy, to work in.Not all artistes can conform to this rigidity and there are exceptions. Then comes the question of the posthumous phenomenon.when the rejected artist, thrown out, or even ‘’offed with his head’’, by the offended provider, after his death achieves a resounding and scintillating fame that livens up the galleries and museums till eternity. This fact, has rubbed off on the collective conscious of the peoples, nations and families of both the volatile artistes and their wealthy employers who sacked and rejected them at whim;and themselves are lying forgotten in ignominy, while the art/ists/istes achieve everlasting fame-immortalized.All this resulting in your term;’’clever economics’’.Now the art/ist/iste is indulged by those who patronise his work. The one who indulges gets two benefits i think. One, the creative genius’ work and the common man’s adoration for being such a generous supporter of the cause of art and their ideal artist/iste.If the artist/iste is a firebrand, gregarious personality the bigger the cycle of popularity. As the hypocritical attitudes of the members of the society are lashed out against; the poor folk can identify with the oppressed who are the victims of such hypocrites, and they cannot feel alone.
Now your question,{...} ‘’Was it actually capitalism getting hold of it to knock it out of its poverty embracing idealism?’’ my answer is that obviously, definitely seems to be the case.
Yes,where are these eccentric, creative people now?they are all over the world.Today’ s world accepts their entity more. They are wanted, they are followed and they are better understood. They need not belong to a small piece of land which may be the poor intellectual’ s utopia, the place where bohemians live. They may be scattered and the whole world belongs to them.
