Actually Naqsh's quote is again one where slap a sheikh in front of the Imam and you have a sufi variety.
I have read some of Ghazal's work where he continues to make wonderful sense until it comes to women. Then he is a surprising mullah. The reason is simple. He was a legalist. At odds with sufism really.
As for Naqsh's claim that all sufis are scholars of sharia, and are mullas first. This is so laughable that if I were a sufi, I would kick Naqsh's ignorant ass back on the streets to join his "Sunni" brothers. I can bring MANY examples of sufis who were not mullas.
Also note. He had quoted earlier that Shias's do not have anything similar to sufism. Then I showed him the sufi orders that are from Iran (majority shia), and he said, yeah, but the orders are not shia, they only took influences from Imam Ali. Okie dokie. Poor Naqsh continues to slide and dice things the way it can fit into his narrow world view.
To start, here is a lineage of sufis that, well, are learned scholars, but obviously not mullahs: sufiorder.org, and look here for thier silsila http://sufiorder.org/silsila.html
And there are tonnes of these examples dating all the way back into history. In fact, the only mullahs I encountered in my sufi studies (a smattering of books here and there, I am no scholar), weree the naqshbandis. I promptly looked elsewhere for being close minded is not the reason I looked into sufism.
Naqsh, I would hold out a glimmer of hope for you, but you seem to have checked out your logical faculties and become "like a corpse" to your teacher.

even before I read your post, I just "knew" that I have now become a lower spiritual caste. I got cheated out of the non-caste status. damn it all. I must start a naqsh appreciation thread to appease the gods and walliullahs

yaar, sufism is much misunderstood due to our learned mullah naqsh.
I would invite you to read up on the sufi order international. Krishna and Buddha's teachings are also included in thier philosophy.
I don't consider sufism as primitive. In fact I considered that path to be enlightened (not the only path of enlightement, mind you).
VRV, I agree with your example. The creator is reflected in our grain. Even a blade of grass can lead us to the ecstatic truth.
Note: I am not a sufi. Nor do I follow the universalists.

You, however, have redeemed this name.
Indeed, you have laid bare the game of chess that my mullah bretheren are too ignorant off.

re: ilm. Yes, the prophet did not consider the quranic revelations to be the only knowledge that muslims should seek. One of his sayings asks muslims to go and seek out knowledge even if they have to travel as far as china. So the importance of gaining knowledge is stressed, as is hijrat (travelling). For mingling with other cultures and observing the world at large would offer much learning. The early muslim explosive growth in mathematics, astronomy and chemistry were based on this very principle of traveling to seek out knowledge.

oops I did it again. Harsh language. no apologies necessary now. You know this is a repeat occurence ;).
And it is "sub theek hai" variety, not the "saarey theek hai". aka "all is well". aka heaven and hell, it is all in your head.
But I am no sufi. Nor do I play one on chowk.
I am worried about you. Your kind are really the disfranchised diaspora, the lost kids of pakistan, who do not know thier own culture, nor do they fit in to the one they live in. They desparetly cling to whatever angry rhetoric mullas espouse.
It is funny that you only mention one side of your heritage. wtf???? this is a common disillusionary bullshit hindu convert families have. Please. One side of your family were kuttar hindus.

first, my apologies for using harsh language against you.
That withstanding. All you are missing is a hook on your arm, and abu-hamza as your name, and I can see you raving in the streets of London.
There is a HUGE difference between sufis and the scholars of sharia. In fact the scholars of sharia were always wary of sufis and have declared them heretics often.
Get yo head out of the mullah's ass amigo.

dude, please. Naqsh represents a very narrow mullah frame of mind.
Although I take offense to your various insults towards Islam, I can ignore them when I put them in context.
Naqsh is really on a roll here. Sufi my foot.
This guy is so anti-sufi and so fundo mullah, he has lost it completely.
It is okay for the rulers to have concubines according to naqsh.
Every woman has a demon with her.
fuk off naqsh with your brand of convuluted islam.
Mohar I can forgive, for he knows not. And what he knows is the crap you are spewing naqsh.

thanks to the rantings of echoboom, I went and checked out your website.
2 things I noticed.
1. Unlike Asma Jehangir, you do not look angry in your pictures.
2. Wow, you are a prolific writer.
3. (okay so I noticed more than 2 things) the humanist thing is becoming like a smiley cult isn't it ;)
Anyway, keep up the good work. I will check out some of your work if it is available locally here in Cali.

Thank you for the clarification of not using the brain etc....you my friend, have enlightened me. I thought I wanted to follow sufism....but no, you have disabused me of the very notion of sufism.
Well I am not an orthodox muslim. I am not an athiest or agnostic like our gentle friend dr. sohail. There is no other option but for me to start my own order of sufism.
The one that does not practice orthodoxy, uses ones brains, and follow Islam ...metaphorically.
