I doubt everything and this guy needs to be questioned for his own contradictions....
Mind you I have a love late relationship with this iconic writer and let me assure you a part of me perhaps admires him a lot and admires him much more than any one and certainly more than you……
People like NFP should exist, they are the benchmark for the left wing but in my humble and " confused" opinion Mr NFP does need to answer some questions....
You take his opinion to be an endorsement of your pro Musharraf stance or your anti Imran stance. You are narrowing your opinion to character assassination of anti Musharraf element… The typical approach is that anti Musharraf element is corrupt and self serving……
He is not pro Musharraf.....at least not the way you are ...He is trying to interpret and justify it through class "theory" and through liberalism is necessary at any cost approach….
The implicit idea according to my low intellectual and “contradictory half baked confused ” fcuking philosophy is that….( these are his favourite words...):

Things like independent Judiciary are purely a creation or reflection of middle class anal self righteous mentality…..
Though of far less intellectual calibre than him and having “no knowledge of geo politics”, I would like to offer my humble opinion that at times interests of self righteous anal bastard middle class and down trodden, though not explicitly realized, can actually converge….
And one should be careful when one’s own life is itself reflective of those anal middle class choices….

1. Why do you write in a language which is elitist and understood by a only few......

Why despite your fcuking claims about being a "conventional" old fashioned Marxist Leninist and your fcuking tall claims to speak on the behalf of the down trodden, you have married an elitist yuppy commercial foreign banker..... why couldn’t you find some one from ordinary class for your steamy affairs and for your life partner.... After all in one of your articles you have actually made fun of Imran for marrying Jemima....Mr Paracha .... what about your own choice......

I am sorry I am getting personal here, but having slight "knowledge" of your immediate family, I would like to bring out your bloody hypocritical true face here.....because there are people here who like you because they think you are an "honest and straight forward" person. If public support is the true criteria for truthfulness of an idea, why you claim to be “Marxist Lenisist.” And yet support PPP when it despite retaining liberal outlook has moved away from nationalization……..In fact privatization started during PPP’s first tenure…and yet PPP’s street power and mass appeal is still intact….

So your solution about "disruptive" institutions like Judiciary (which by the way has always always been subject to executive apart for perhaps a few months when it showed signs of coming out of its control) should be razed to the core!!!
And rebuilding be done by an all powerful military strongman. Mr Goldfinger, what makes you think that this is rebuilding in the first place? It is the return to orginal state of affairs. Secondly the whole emergency was implemented to purge judiciary so that Musharraf can have his way completely. So what makes you think that this so called "rebuilding" will be for the country's betterment and not for removal of effective checks and balances. I keep on hearing similar crap about Musharraf being a better option than BB and NS blah blah...
Those two also created problems because they tried to concentrate too much powers in their hands and Musharraf is doing the same in a manner which is far more brutal and will have disastrous long term effects on your institutions. Mind you even if his intentions are "noble", one day your favourite stable and benevolent dictator will die or will have to leave. However even if he dies he would have left a precendent and a legacy of a weak and subservient judiiary which will then be abused for the next and not so benevolent dictator. Too much power in one individual has a tendency to be abused and abusers and their apologetics have a tendency to call it "stability" and essential to prevent anarchy.
So do you want a police state where one day you can be abducted by agencies and you do not have any any recourse to law!!! Perhaps then you will understand what this "stability" is all about...

The Proposition It is an interesting and complicated take on so called taboo subjects...
I would like to pose a question to the author here. Why in women there is a tendency to actually find men like Mr Iqtidar instinctively attractive despite even knowing the nature of such men or shall i say because of that?
There is apprently a conflict between rational part and instinctive part of women. Rationally women, particularly, after women's liberation are fully aware of the need for equality and freedom. But at the same time, people like Mr Iqtidar despite their treatment of women are successful with them. Despite advances in feminism why Mills and Boon hero remains a darkly dangerous archtypal of a Male Chauvanist who forces his woman to love him and uses his predatory sexual urges to subject her to his whims.
This conflict needs to be sorted out before any genuine progress is expected in a movement towards equality. Equality after all is achived not only by reforming society and individual male mindset but also by changing female mindset.

The central question is that whether ordinary Pakistani deserves this treatment where agencies can abduct you at their will and you do not have any recourse to law. Incompetence of NS or BB does not justify brutality on citizens and snatching their fundamental rights. Nor their incompetence or corruption justifies that police start beating lawyers on the street and worst their incompetence does not prove that kanjar Musharraf is the right man for the job.
