Resist, resist, resist: ‘The gift of a crisis’
Posted by ravian8mm Nov 24, 2007 02:18 pm
“We’ve been gifted with a crisis”, is appropriate account.
The growth of ‘mad persons’ is enormous, blessing coming out of the crisis. More collaboration is required to make a decisive thrust to end this agony. “Keep your anger alive”, the title of some article and truly make a sense in this situation.

we all need to combine our efforts for the restoration of ‘constitutional judiciary’(as of November 3) , because human rights, rule of law, free media, democracy and all signs of liberal society will emerge eventually.

Re: # 2
“The role of Jang newspaper was as a mouthorgan for establishment in the debacle of 1970-71 alongwith its another branch JI.”

Is Jang still mouthorgan of establishement????

“The trend is continuing all along from Bhutto era to Zia era till today. For its benefit it does not care about Pakistan and its people.”

Jang group is taking huge benefits from Musharaff??? Business growth is all time high these days?? They have expanded their reach and earning big amount in terms of ads and Mush is heplping Jang to get more ads from others as well…

“As I said before, GEO and Jang group wanted to be heroes as they did during Nawaz Sharif time”

Yes Geo is becoming hero at the cost of its business. Mir Shakeel will cash this cheque of heroism in future to come over group’ losses.

“For last seven years it has been successful in talking points which has helped the dictatorship”

And now dictator is very much pleased with their performance as he sent token of appreciation through UAE authorities and GEO has started celebrations outside of its offices and journalist are dancing to the tunes of Pakistan police. Geat extravaganza.......

Fair enough!! If Jinnah perpetuated himself against the will of people then would be the same consequences as of Mush'.
Most were admirer (admiration not devotion) of Mush for his policies till he revealed his despotism. He could'nt turn into devotion but lost admiration as well.

Re: # 4
masadi, your analysis is debateable but one must not use such offensive terms for customary respected leader.

There can be lots of arguments but the one major distinction that prevail over every theory of resemblence: Jinnah had/has millions of devotees but what about Mush...hatred by millions.

Nikhat, I totally agree with you, not to commit a sin for being a silent watcher, and the literate people must raise their voice to avoid a failed state posture. Is it enough or we need to do more than that??? The gravity of the situation demads more than just to pronounce.

How to counter??? Any suggestion!!

Yes!! You have expressed the core feelings of the majority. Shameful act against IK… hatred for Mush.... but no leader to follow ...and common man dissociation with the situation.
You are absolutely right that we must all go beyond our affiliations and partiality but to struggle for a common goal ... Get rid of dictator first and then go for real democracy.
We have no chrismatic leader to follow but have some options …BB! Unreliable….Nawaz! noooo….Qazi! never…..IK! unable to mobilize masses. Then what to do in this situation?? Where to find such leader?? We don’t have much option but we have to make a move from cards in hand. The only valuable card is IK at the moment as he is the only pure sign of resistance to the Mush regime and showed his stature so far. He is not much rooted in the common class but have symphethies within. We the ‘e-class’ must move out and support him to make his numbers....eventually the chain reaction starts.
We must step forward practicaly rather than watching the situation and depressing ourselves. We have to take some bold and targeted steps in different stages. Firstly organize some compaign to encourage the people arround us for street mobilization….but “charity begins at home”!!!
