I'd second that sir ... it is amazing that every article about Pakistan attracts so much Indian interest! .... lately there were some articles about India and you'd hardly notice any Pakistani presence there

Jagjit is just great! ... I watched Mirza Ghalib recently and I felt finally someone did justice to Ghalib's poetry .... especially "hazaaron khwahishein aisee ..."

if you are referring to your support for the american invasion of Iraq .... I wasn't totally against it myself ... but for different and perhaps more idealistic reasons than Georgy W ... for now I'll have to say Good night to you and leave you in the company of futile and monotonous counterarguments of some of your old friends (with the notable exception of hamidm sahib, of course)

[[if you consider Saddam a "Great Hero", why did you move to Australia (where they dont believe in "Great Leaders") rather than to Iraq under Saddam? This hypocrisy does not suit you either.]]
I am no hypocrite sir and believe strongly in all the things you seem to hold so dear to yourself .... unfortunately your muslim brethren are intent on proving THEIR point .... when MY COUNTRY (Great Britain) grants assylum to a Somali kid, without knowing that in years to come the same Soamli would try to blow up his 'own' countrymen and property in the name of some god or another! ... of course in the TRUE spirit of his faith
other obvious examples of the Saddams of their times can easily be found in the lives of AbuBakr, Umer .... not to mention Hajjaj bin Yousuf and Maimoon-ur-Rashid!

in THAT part of the world, THAT is the only language people would understand ... I personally reckon Saddam was a great leader who kept his country UNITED at all cost ... pretty much what the US is struggling to do now at great cost to its self-esteem!
a true "ameer-ul-momineen" if you will!! and I am afraid in this regard 'history' would vindicate my argument against yours any day!

[[Nothing that I have alluded to since I joined chowk ever proved a conspiracy theory.]]
I am sure what hamidm sahib stated 'proved' the above too! ... you have never 'proven' anything but certainly have 'alluded to/implied' the conspiracy theory on many occasions.
I am at a loss in trying to understand exactly what your point of view is Ijaz sahib .... you seem to have this desire to come across as "more Pakistani than the avarage Pakistani" for some reason. I have never seen to condemn any of these atrocities ever but always put forward justifications for them which I find incomprehensible ... at best you take a very dispassionate (rather pragmatic) approach .... commendable at times but then someone should have the audacity to call a spade a spade ... right?
all this (from time to time) coming from a seemingly well-informed person such as your good self, I thought I'd point it out, though I am sure only you know the truth!
Is there something about you we don't know?

I only wish these morons have the moral courage to acknowledge the fact that there ARE these elements in our midst, more than capable of carrying out such atrocities, and take responsibility for their existence .... and also have the guts to take the necessary actions (or advocate such action) against such elements ..... My question to all Pakistanis is what are you going to do about it? ....
.... unfortunately with denial one is prone to absolve oneself of the 'responsibility' .... hmm... responsibility; a concept that appears to be alien to our culture in the first place (perhaps ... though I remain optimistic .. cautiously!)

What makes me sick is the excuses we tend to see on forums such as this; worse, comparisons with 'christian' fundamentalists and the usual rants about 'proxy' american involvements ..... it is denial at its worstI only wish these morons have the moral courage to acknowledge the fact that there ARE these elements in our midst, more than capable of carrying out such atrocities, and take responsibility for their existence .... and also have the guts to take the necessary actions (or advocate such action) against such elements ..... whatever happened to the TNI sir? no need anymore?
one quick question ..... does acknowledgement and ownership of the TNI title imply that there WAS a need/room for "newness" and "improvement"?
Regards.
will check your response later

..... we can either sweep it under the carpet and coccoon ourselves in our own little worlds (new OR old) or we can actually think and attempt to provide realistic solutions to the problems ..... and that only comes with acknowledging the "problems" and facing/fighting them with courage .... including the appropriate use of liguistics such as poets/writers etc have done through the ages ... especially in our part of the world (perhaps because they had so much to talk about! ... another digression, sorry)
on the other hand, if the purpose of poetry is merely a collection of nice (and polysyllabic) words that rhyme well together .... than that's probably OK too ... only let's not use it for any "purpose" but for the linguistic beauty herein
will talk soon ..... Khuda Hafiz for now
